Just picked up my first brass finish zippo. Been carrying the same brushed chrome one for 20 years now. Almost exactly 20 years later, a beautiful armor brushed brass Zippo is ready to roadtrip. I had expected after 20 years to see some brass color showing, but even after two decades of traveling and adventuring, it looks pretty new. Ha. So, I gave up. The brass looks classy and the armor case feels great in the hand. I'll have to try these mods out. I never had any issue with anything going too fast on my chrome one, but if I can get more than a week out of it on the road without a refill, awesome! Cheers. 🔥
@@ZippoFanatic77 I already love it. It's the one I was planning on ordering, but my local cigar shop happened to have it today. They didn't have it last week. It called to me, and once I held it I knew it was the right one. I really like the extra weight of the armor and that they did a brass color insert. I'm excited to break it in for a few decades and see how it ages. I'm really enjoying your videos. I've been watching them the last few weeks. Great stuff about a great American product.
I've noticed that zippo does an amazing job with their chrome plating process, the brushed chrome is probably the most durable finish of any of the zippo lighters.
Just started getting back into zippos and you're channel has answered a ton of questions I had especially with the hinges I thought I got a dud but good to know thats how they come
I told a co worker today about the bag trick cause he said I love zippos but they chew through fluid , I told him about it and to watch your channel for how to do it and you can get up to two weeks , up here at least , he was like damn ima have to try that
Just to let everyone know why Cotton Bacon has less of the smell is because it was meant for wicking vape, we don't use those square cottons cause it has been processed, we prefer natural cotton, it' fluffy and it holds a huge amount of liquid and overall it's a good quality cotton, been rocking it for years and yes it works great on Zippo lighters as well 🔥🔥🔥
Buy VM&P Naphtha it is the same as Zippo Fluid, but at 1/3rd the cost! Another trick is to cover the outside of the lighter with a section of bicycle innertube. Find an old innertube that will fit snuggly around the outside of the lighter. It seals the lighter, so the fluid cannot evaporate. Just roll it down to open the lighter and use it.
Man I didn't think about changing cotton. My zippo is 2012 and I never changed it til now because I used to vape and it isn't cotton bacon that I just used. But it's organic and all that and man it holds triple the fluid and now it lights up with just one flick. Also trim the wick as well so it's like brand new again. Thank you. Can't wait to see how long it lasts now. Before I had to refuel every other day and I'm a pack a day smoker and I also light up candles as well with my zippo. So good looking out and I'll let you know when it's time to refuel it to let you know. The cotton name is Native Wicks premium blend cotton
Man I ordered that Cotten bacon, so weird that the Amazon driver was asking for my DOB to give me cotton lol! This stuff is great! Thanks for all the work you do. Invaluable. Cass piper ☘️
I think the reason they asked you is because cotton bacon is a wicking material commonly used for vaping, and the rule is that you have to be 18+ to be able to purchase anything vape-related. So i think that's why they asked you 😄
Yep, supplies for the consumption of nicotine. Next thing you know, Our Government of a FREE country will regulate caffeine... Then you will get 'carded' for a Coca cola or coffee. And get a DUI for Driving under the influence of a 'regulated stimulant'.. A couple of years ago, the public school was teaching my daughter that nicotine and caffeine were 'Drugs'. Spot on. Politicians in the good old USA love the power of being able to tell their "subjects" what they can and cannot do. After all, they're all knowing perfect beings unlike us commoners.
Does the shorter wick trick help reduce evaporation when you are not using the Zippo? Alsi what do you think about using teflon tape instead of the bag trick?
If you want to save a lot of money here is a tipp: In Germany we have something called Barber Cotton. It is much cheaper 1kg is ca. 15€ its a huge bag and it comes in a very long strip which is very easy to use. It works as good as the expensive Cotton Bacon
@@elcapitan428 no speacial brand if you are from germany go on amazon and order Friseurwatte (I prefer the brand Efalock) if not do the same but order barber/ hair stylist/ hairdresser cotton (i dont know how this is called in english), it should be a 1kg bag for 15$-20$. The cotton should be a really long string with a diameter of ca. 15cm. It will last 100 years or more. Its nearly impossible to empty that bag.
Hey Zippo Fanatic great vid. Repacked one of my Father's old Zippos with Cotton Bacon Prime. Need to get more fluid and see how she does. Question: I have a Zippo with the name "Ray S. Koltz" engraved on it. Any idea who this is or was. I've done some searching and no luck. Also the top of the Zippo came off. Everything still there. No dents, kinks or other signs of abuse other than excessive wearing of the finish. The brushed finish is 70% intact with brass showing big time. Any advice on how to reattach top? Greatly appreciated. Liked and subbed.
@Zippo Fantatic 77 From your vids it seems that you`re able to hold more fuel with Cotton Bacon, which will of course last longer. My question is, if you put in the same amount of fuel, as you would with the rayon, does it still last longer?
do you have to replace cotton bacon? The original zippo cotton never has to be replaced but whenever I read about cotton bacon it seems to be for vapers who constantly have to change it out.
Does shorter wick affect the ignition process? Will I need to strike it more times? Isn't it going to behave worse in windy weather? If you know any guitar players ask them for empty packiging from strings. It's basicly a thin aluminium foil (I think). It's indestructible and hold the insert perfectly. Worked better for me than the bag. Please make a video about flints and how often it's really necesarry to change them. Thanks!
Hey! As a minor with a zippo I like to take care of it, but having cotton only reserved to people who are 21 or older I cant buy this "highly absorbent cotton" everyone's talking about. Do you think dental cotton would work? Maybe even better possibly?
What you said about all vaping cotton being the same, have you tried a brand called firebolt? None of my local vape shops have cotton bacon, but one of them has a brand called firebolt
Can i use Kendo cotton instead of cotton Bacon? I have a bag f Kendo that I have left since I tried (unsuccessfully) to switch from regular to electronic cigarettes, and now I don't know what to do with it ...

What do you think about the rubbers what you can buy on aliexpress this onec what you set on the botom on insert i orderit them and what but meaby you alsow try yhem
They're good for awhile but you need to keep replacing them, they're cheap enough to replace but don't leave them for a long time with fluid in the lighter. Eventually the lighter fluid will cause the plastic to break down.
Isnt it just smarter to use bezene? I use it instead of zippo fleuit cause its way cheaper, like 1.85 euro per liter. Plus it works the same asin same smell and flame.
Cotton Bacon ,is a game changer. Save fuel and buy it.
How much is it?
@@kova1577 Like 6 or 7 dollars.
I use BPMods vape cotton. I'm testing it.
The inner material from tampons also makes a great packing material for zippos.
