After watching numerous cigar rolling videos, one thing is for certain and that is no one has a full jar of whatever it is they use to stick the ends together. It’s always basically empty.
My late father enjoyed a good cigar every now and then, I loved the smell at Christmas when Dad had a cigar in the evening. Good memories, that looks like a lovely cigar.
I don't know what I expected but this is not how I imagined Cigars were made. As a strict non-smoker, I was waiting for you to add Tobacco into the leaves as I only knew Tabacco as this substance that is cut into tiny peaces. Only when you started rolling up the leaves did I realize that that was the tobacco.
I expected the internals of the cigar to be pieces of leaf too, but it makes sense that it is done this way, when you think about it. Rolling the leaves and packing them together ensures the layers are all the same direction, promoting air flow and a consistent burn.

Never thought about rolling my own cigar, I might have to give this a try! Do you have a source you recommend for the raw materials? Nice stick by the way!!!
Thanks! You could get a cigar blend kit at wholeleaftobacco.com to get started. If you're on facebook, join the "Cigar Rollers" group. It's an active group with lots of rollers.
Thank you for these video my friend. How did you learn to roll cigars? As well how long did it take before you felt like you could roll a decent cigar with a nice wrap?
I enjoyed watching and every step was pretty nice except the one critique…deveining. It was a shame to see half a leaf trashed. If you wrap the mid rib around your wrist after plucking the top third getting it started. The result would be much better or simply use your chaveta to cut along mid rib. On a positive note, filler binder had the right humidification and the wrapper seemed to be cased properly as well. Nice oily and good stretching technique when applying the wrapper. No loose seams. A little less leaf than I usually bunch in a 48 but looked ample for a decent draw. Also liked the flag and cap work. Good placement vs too low. Well done!
Which leaf variatals were you using for each component? Were they all sourced from the same plant or was each leaf from a different source/region? I mostly smoke Nicaraguan maduro blends from Drew Estate but there are a few Rocky Patel and Gurkhas out there with Sumatran wrappers that I found to be especially flavorful and pleasant smelling when lit.
why is such care taken to seal one end of the cigar with extra pieces of leaf when the other end is left unsealed, and the sealed end is cut off before smoking anyway?
Because and only just in case it doesn't get unroll and stay in shape even though the professionals won't cut the seal completely just two narrow cut in positive shape
Can someone tell me if the buzz is different in a cigar than in a tobacco pipe. I recently smoked a cigar took my time and everything i didnt feel a thing. In my experience cigaretts and black and milds hit harder than the cigar i smoked
I'm not a smoker myself, just a fella who likes learning about other peoples hobbies. from the little i know of cigar culture, the flavors and scents are the the most important, nicotine effects take a back seat. i could be wrong though.
As a pipe smoker i find pipe tobacco more pleasing to non smokers, its not as harsh as some cigars are (IMHO). Each has their own ups and downs. Pipe tobacco is generally much cheaper and it lasts longer, altough pipes can get expensive if you really indulge in the hoby. It much depends on the personal preferance and budget.
Tobacco pipe= more immediate effects due to the amount of smoke volume capable... packing is also a part of that Cigars buzz are slow and mellow meant to relax and be enjoyed.
As a completely thick heathen and a life long none smoker, I have to ask does working with the tobacco leaves leach nicotine into the skin, I would love it if someone could explain ?

Yes, those leaves are progressed in a very complex and special ways

I never knew I love seeing this stuff! I'm not a smoker but I would love to smoke one of those!

now imagine rolling up and packing tens of these per day, its no wonder cigars are considered luxury goods.
just 10? hold my beer
@@xXTheOnlyDompsXxmaybe he meant packing tens of the cigar molds cause I'm pretty sure that cigar rollers will make up to 100 or more cigars a day

Wow! Perfect! Question: What's the difference between regular cigars and Cuban cigars and why are Cuban cigars illegal? Just curious.
Because USA doesn’t like Cuba lol
Cold War politics baby, otherwise the actual difference is mainly mild flavour stuff

yes.

Why you glue the round piece on the end then immediately cut it off. Excellent job btw👍🏾

I save most of it, and then roll cigars with the scraps as filler.

Put it in a pipe maybe. Ive seen indian videos where they like mince the tobacco leaf and mix in some type of power then tuck it in there lip.
