Ottawa has it all, it is a beautiful city with a marvelous architecture, clean, organized and very safe, people are also very friendly. worth to visit!
Truly, last statement won my heart. Canada has everything from lush green forest to snow clad mountains. In short, Canada has nature in it's pristine form. Love Canada from India ❤🙂
Pros and Cons of Ottawa as a resident: Pros: Relaxing atmosphere, wilderness just minutes away, transit system is decent, good museums, small town feel in a big city, mostly everyone is friendly, rideau canal in winter for skating, plenty of local parks, 4 distinct seasons, employment is generally strong but pigeonholed into certain sectors - cost of living is low compared to bigger cities. Cons: It's way too cold in winter and it lasts too long, the city is largely silent in winter, lacks an obvious style (something that says - Ottawa), city maintenance is too slow, not enough festivals, government workers increase rush hour by 2 hours (really needs more roads), if you aren't into sport or the outdoors there isn't enough to do, and the city is really spread out. Conclusion: If you love the outdoors and embrace every season but also love friendly people and small cities this is a great place for you! For me it is a good compromise, I just have to make it through the winter and I'm fine :).
UPDATE: Ottawa is no longer the 4th largest city in Canada, it is the 6th largest now. Calgary and Edmonton are now both larger than Ottawa in terms of population.
Bobby P false. Ottawa is still bigger than Edmonton. Only Calgary is more populated. It’s the 4th most populated, behind Toronto, Montreal and Calgary.

Ottawa, the city where 1/2 of Discovering was born! We always visit friends and family and we love to go back! A great tip for visitors is to visit Ottawa during the "Ottawa Tulip Festival", which gives lots of colours and fun to the city, where tourists will find lots of events going on too!
Queen Victoria chose Ottawa as Canada's capital because it was situated between Lower and Upper Canada, and as well, because it was far from the American border; Toronto, Kingston, London, Montreal, were too close.
@123benny4 NO She Didn’t stop lying on my Canada. Canadians chose Ottawa as a capital together. Basically Ottawa was chosen cuz neither Montreal & Toronto were suitable as either were too anglophone or Francophone. OTTAWA was a mixture of both and between the 2 cities & it happened to be a little far from US border. Montreal was always the financial hub of Canada from its founding by Jacques Cartier via St. Lawrence River until the 1940’s (now it’s Toronto) so being close to US border became less of an issue.
