@Pen or Sword, which one? Most LIers have a love/hate relationship with their home. Overall, the quality of life for the average LIer whose family has been there for generations isn't what it used to be - most people have left as a result. LI is expensive with some of the highest property taxes in the US and it is very overcrowded. Most older folks end up moving out of state where they can actually afford to live on a fixed income of social security benefits and retirement savings. The large influx of illegal immigrants from Latin America has also had a huge impact on the demographics and culture of LI over the last 15 years - take that how you may. If you go for vacation, make sure you visit the north fork or south fork - these are the popular tourist destinations for a reason that are insulated, for the most part, from the negatives of LI. I could go on, but hopefully this gives you an idea of where Christian D is coming from.
I was born on Long Island and loved driving to the north fork and Montauk Lighthouse. I moved away 10 years ago and miss the beaches. The beach were I am is not good. I love hearing the ocean waves. Thank You to the people who put this video together. It popped up and it surprised me. 😊

MONISH HR - Both. All these places really do have all these beautiful things but Expedia leaves out all the ugly parts. PS, "whether" as in "whether or not" is spelled "whether" and not "weather", which refers to the climate of the day.
Having grown up there I'd say a little of both. Anytime I go back, like this summer, I'm reminded why I don't live there anymore. A week of humidity and the worst mosquitoes I'd ever experienced, had me, my husband and kids (who were born out West) racing to get back to the West Coast beaches we frequent when we want to escape our Las Vegas home and 111° degree weather. Oh well, no place is perfect! 😉
