Alphonso, your drawing videos got me through my heroine addictiion. I know this sounds odd but I'm not joking, your lesson kept me sane. The encouragement to draw kept me sane. I know you're busy with a family but I would be an as Sholes if I didn't try to meet you. I live in LA, CA.

Pink Floyd was very talented. I'm good if I copy a tutoral. Otherwise, my drawings are wonky. I wish that my parents made me take art lessons when I was a child. I want to draw, so eventually, I can maybe go into watercolors. I am not having fun, as I'm too critical.

Thank you so much. I have watched half a dozen videos on hatching before I came to this. It annoyed me so much that they could not just show off the basics. Your videos really do the trick. It's admirable how you manage to pass off so much information with the kind of high quality graphic productions that some other art youtubers have. Greetings from Norway.

Thank you very much for these videos...i sketch with black ink all the time so i decided to view your "basic drawing and fundamentals" videos and i continue to learn more and more as I go. this video in particular has just open my eyes and really showed me how to think outside the box. i was doing some of these techniques without actually thinking about them. So this video has brought it to the forefront of my mind. I also understand "form" clearly now... and at the same time learning about "basics shapes" and "form" is also allowing me to understand "value" and "value changes" as well. I can also see that although you're using pen and ink this can also cross over to pencil as well. So very excited to now understand this information and realize how important "attention to form" actually is. I guess it just took a while for me to find a video(s) that spoke in a language i can understand through the use of something i love to do all the time. lol....thanks a lot. I really feel i should be paying for this information lol.

WOW!!! I really appreciate your detailed explanations and logical reasoning as to how, why, and where to use these particular shading, and lining techniques! I REALLY want to "Master" the pen and ink shading and drawing techniques, and then use those skills to make designs to be engraved, and/or, acid etched into sheet metal, or solid metal, ( as in gun, or knife) engraving. I think it's lind of "magical" to make a 2D surface appear to be very 3D in appearance! Many Thanks!!

Hi Alphonso, I want also to give back to your generous advice, Notice in 16:16 in the layer section, the second layer that you applied, by coincidence, gave the impression of depth a 3d effect, I guess because you applied shorter and shorter line as you went to the center, imagine the drawing is bigger, it can be seen as in the middle of the woods, you can add a creature or a house etc in that center, or around it.. and give a dramatic or scary effect , or nightly view etc. thanks for the tips

Hi Alphonso, Thanks for all your tutorials. For Inktober2018, I've decided to learn the basics of drawing with pen and ink everyday. This tutorial is for Day 1 :) Thanks again, Min
Maybe you could do special Inktober lessons for beginners :)

These are terrific videos. I'm a beginner and have watched two so far. Is there an order in which they should be watched?

I like your tutorials! I have a question: my hand doesn't work well with horizontal lines, should I rotate the paper and draw as a vertical line or keep practicing on horizontals? Thanks!
