- As my subscribers know, I've sold my BMW E64 650i, and I've bought a BMW F12 650i. This video is all about my first days after buying the new car - how fast it goes, what to do with all of those 8 gears, what's the same as the E64 and what is completely different (more or less everything)
I'm really happy to see that the E64 went to another enthusiast. And the new 650i looks great, that spec is gorgeous! Hopefully it will give you lots of trouble-free motoring!
First off a big congratulations on this one Timm. You picked the car of my dreams, again. Red, Ivory/dash and the low mileage is just to die for. When you get tired of it, keep me in mind. It would do me nicely in Thailand.
Having had a couple of 6 & 8 speed BMWs, you will grow to love the reliability of the 8 speed and the smoothness, just wait. It beats the 6 speed hands down. This also comes with Auto-hold, which I miss in my E64 650i.
All the best, enjoy.
Thanks Kim, very kind of you. I've only just discovered auto hold, now that's clever!
Hi Tim, Nice SO happy you now also have an F12 I sold my very nice Jaguar XJ8 (which has the same colour scheme as your new car) as I wanted a convertible again. Have followed your channel for ages as the E31 was a young man's dream car but realise I don't have a Garage and skills to keep it up, I was close to buying an E64 ( 630) but in the end I bought an F12 640i -2011 driven 20" miles only. Very pleased. Really looking forward to hearing what tricks and tips you will come up with on the F12
It's great to hear from someone who actually likes the F12, all I get is doom mongers!
Lovely car - awesome colour. Wish you many years of happy motoring and great content for us to view!
Awesome Car Tim! If there's one thing I would say to do to the N63 V8 is to put a Lower Temp Thermostat in it. (85c Preferred) you can get them online, the factory one is (105c) which is far too high. I've owned the E71 X6M which has the S63 V8 and most of them problems your going to run into are heat related issues. Trust me been there done that & I wish I had done it earlier. 😂
Love that 8 speed ZF. Big step forward.
Congratulations Timm. Awesome car.
My son is crying about the e64 going! He loves mine so much!
Congratulations on your new purchase. A decent step up in terms of quality which was never the E63/E64s strongest aspect!
What a great pick up, what a gem! I went fron a E63 650i to a F13 M6, both manual (USA) and love(d) them both. Very different cars, and the engines have entirely different personalities. Newer iDrive is a huge upgrade. 😊
Liking the F12, very nice.
Thanks 👍
Congratulations on your new purchase Timm - an interesting review too!
Thanks Tim. Love your new car!
Lovely car - look forward to seeing more of it
WELCOME Tim. Mine 65 plate in white with black seats. We have the same interior though.
Beautiful car. It will be interesting to see how the mpg is vs the old machine. I wish you many safe miles of driving. All the best from Prague !
I will do the same, when I get tired of my 645ci 💪🏽💪🏽
Glad to hear you're enjoying it, I thought you would. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive mine.
I'm surprised your vehicle didn't come with the HUD. I suppose the subtle marketing differences between the UK & A&NZ right hand drives.
Have you plugged bimmercode or carly into it yet? A lot more options to customize.
Beautiful car indeed Tim!! Best of health to enjoy it and I look forward to future content!!
Now THAT, is a rare and beautiful thing on our UK roads! You seem to have an enviable knack of picking nice colours, and I love how the wheels, trim, even interior hang it all together. Loved my 640d, a very similar spec, no doubt. But the 640d had the full digital 6WB dash, which I didn't really love TBH. My current M6 has the half digital/half analog dash your 650i has, which I much prefer. I know what you mean when you say about the e31, and e64 feeling a little old/tired. The old 8 series is one of my dream cars, but having owned 3 x 6 series now, maybe one shouldn't meet ones heroes? A classy looking car, for sure. It suits you. ;-)
Now I have to buy an F12
Beautiful car 🚗 👍
Thank you 👍
Love your car. I have a 2012 bmw x5 lci . Individual finished off in rubin schwach metallic. Like a purple on black love it. Each time you remove one of those engine braces you will have to use new bolts. Dont forget .
Beautiful car Timm, shame about those scratches on the infotainment screen though. Hope you find a magical solution to that.
There is no magic solution to get rid of the scrathes (DON'T TRY !) - but, you can put some PPF on them, or some matt film, which also will hide the scrathes and at the same time, protect it - better do it now than later
Congratulations Tim. Lovely looking thing.
Lovely motor, shame no comfort seats 😢
congratulations on the new 650i, beautiful car :)
Congrats good sir! Great color on a great bmw grand tourer
You brave Timm👍 those are worst v8 engines bmw ever produced slightly better from 2014 but still with their issues.
Lovely car! This colour suits you well, Timm
Hi Timm this is Alvin your number one fan. I have a question for you did you have a funeral service the the E 64😅😅. The new car looks great, and you seem happy with the car. What will be your first repair/video on her?
ALVIN! There you are, great to hear from you. I hope nothing needs repairing for a while!
That looks amazing buddy. I could eat the colour 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹😁😁😁😁😁😁
Sad to see the E64 go, very interested in the F12 journey.
Your wheels are refurbished I think. These only came in the darker Ferric Grey with CNC cut to the face of the wheel, never in silver.
Suggest to look into an XHP upgrade for the gearbox. Allows you to adjust the way it operates and it gets rid of the nervous way Sport mode feels. It also doesn't dump it to running at about 1100rpm as soon as possible when the cruise isn't set.
Enjoy your new car Timm, looks gr8 👍
Lovely car Timm you always seem to get the right colour some power in it enjoy it hope it hasn’t got lane assist kerching if you ever need to get the tracking done ha ha
Thanks Timm, I do love my E64 650i for it's immediate response as the last of the non turbo motors. But I'll be keen to see how you get on with the F12. And my V12 E31 isn't going anywhere soon....
VEry nice, happy safe motoring
Fabulous looking car Tim, beautiful example without doubt. Don't talk to me about car electronics! My E46 has suddenly started playing up with K Bus issues, absolute nightmare. My Foxwell NT530 scan tool is coming up regularly with K Bus fault on the dash (KOMBI) module. If it happens to be correct, that may just condemn a really beautiful car. May have to try and get my head round INPA or ISTA in order to dig a bit deeper.
Congrats! Use it in good health!
Beautiful car, I have the same colour 640 but with the 3.0 diesel and I LOVE IT!
They are fantastic cars, if you ever want to drive it’s diesel cousin Bertha as I call her is at your disposal!
Hope you got a good warranty with that N63.
wish you only happy miles with the new 6 series
wonder how much time left, before you start tinkering with the car ... may reflash for the ZF 8hp, sports steering wheel ?
I'll soon be putting my 2007 e64 on the market. Just hit 30k miles
I think that usb you can plug a hard drive of usb stick with music.
Got one under the armrest of my 3 series with a hard drive plugged in.
Is that Petersfield station!?
It is!
Good video! Are you interested in reviewing car maintenance tools?
That new 650i looks the business! Such low miles ! I hope it was a bargain! Looking forward to watching your new clips with this car.
Bad move Timm, will make a good toy once the mechatronics give you grief not to mention sleeved block! looking forward to your fixes :-)
That’s a good looking car.
Great purchase.... Nice colour. Is there any scuttle shake on these?
Lovely car Timm and with that mileage it looks and should behave pretty much like a new car. Will there be any need for YT content?🙂
A few of questions:
1 Does it have active anti roll bars? My e63 650i has, and that transforms the way the e63 behaves. (Much much better)
2. Is it heavier? I hear it’s lost the Alu doors, bonet, composite wings and boot
3. Does it have electric steering?
Looks awsome, but the N63 in the F12 650 has worse issues than the N62 in the E64. But this will deliver good content :-)
61 Plate is that 2011?? I had a F01 2014, did they do all of the stuff to the engine ? , the plastic breathers , well don't breath on them they do disintegrate had to replace a few on mine. it looks nice was wondering what you ere gonna do about the color , like the red!!!. Regen braking??? you mean the alternator comes on when you are braking and or when it needs to ? its so subtle I could not even tell did you disable the stop start? that used to annoy me , The B7 doesnt even have it , I guess that could get away with that, they put a nice metal cover over where the switch is !!!
Does it have air suspension ?
What is a bit strange is that my 2014 F13 has physical dials for speedo and tach - I wonder if it is a US thing?
this one did too, only the background is LCD.
A closer inspection shows physical dials with back-lit numerals. The LCD is smaller and is at the bottom of the cluster
Tim does this car growl like the old 50's??
An overzealous person who does not know the legislation has removed your beautiful British number plate with the EU Flag and GB on it.
I recently had a number plate made for a car that did not have the GB and European flag in it. No problem. I drive around in cars that have these all the time, crossing borders to France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and even into Switzerland which isn't even an EU country.
This is what Ai had to say on this giving as source HonestJohn UK:
No, it is not illegal to drive in the UK with an old EU number plate that includes the EU flag. If your car was first registered when the UK was still part of the EU, the number plate is still considered legal. However, since September 28, 2021, British cars must display a UK identifier sticker (replacing the old GB version) when driving abroad.
I don’t have the UK identifier sticker and I wasn‘t stopped once. Not on the UK border nor on any other I crossed since then. I will never ever put a UK sticker on in. I rather take the risk of paying fines.
What's the "Auto H" button below the gear shifter?
Auto handbrake. When the car comes to a standstill, the car will automatically apply handbrake, tap the gas it releases
Are the english number plates different from every where else in the United Kingdom?
No but the first letter signifies where the car was registered
I remember the days when I enjoyed driving, and now I’m driving a 4 cylinder 2.0 👀
Looks like Avery nice car especially for one with low miles.
N63 "Hot-Vee" worst engine BMW ever made. I wish you luck.
Thanks!
Good, better, best❤ F12 looks so awesome.
Change the steering wheel first amongst other things Tim
For which one?
A stolen M sport
Definitely carbon fibre M sport one of course
Well, I dont get it. Why you downgraded to F? That engine is a nightmare! 😅
Yes, LOTS of problems with the N63 engine :-(
The main drawback of the BMW N63 engine is its reliability. Early versions of the N63 (2008-2013) suffered from several well-documented reliability issues, including high oil consumption, turbocharger failures, and valve stem seal leaks. Later iterations (N63TU onwards) addressed some of these problems, but they’re not immune to issues altogether. Customers also reported other various problems and failures, such as coolant leaks, carbon buildup, timing chain issues and fuel injector failures. Some of these problems can be very expensive and difficult to fix, and may require extensive repairs or replacements. The engine also has a high maintenance cost, as it requires frequent oil changes, spark plug changes, coolant flushes and other services.
You’re driving around on incorrect number plates 10:07 Peugeot 508
Well done! First to spot it!
Congratulations - nice looking car
BUT !! Take really good care of that engine (I'm sure you will) - they are subject to a lot of problems
Now, I know that your car has very few miles on it, but still the service AND repair history would be interesting. If you would like me to, I would be more than happy to pull a complete service and repair history directly from the BMW servers (just PM me the VIN number)
Thanks! I'll look after it well. VIN is WBALZ32050C579242 it was sold as FBMW service history!
@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation I just pulled the service and repair history - nothing alarming, other than service overdue "time wise".
Btw., you have a recall on the drivers airbag
If you send me your e-mail addresse, I can send you the files / screen shots.

@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation It's actually a strange options list - it has BOTH the 90Ah and the 105Ah battery on it ? I don't suppose that there are two batteries in the car ? 🙂
A090 90 Ah AGM battery
A105 105 Ah AGM battery
Is it a different car or just the number plate ?
I suggest you watch the video before commenting
@@NordicAdvRider I suggest you do one !
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
DVLA thinks your car is a Peugeot.
Well spotted!

Seriously,Tim??
