- We set ourselves a new goal to build a smooth, lightweight cable cam that is small enough to fit in your day pack and able to accomodate a GoPro HERO or similar action camera.
Here's a little more how-to instruction - maiamedia.co.uk/2012/03/how-to...
We made a bigger version 12 months ago. You can watch the video too - • DIY Cable Cam for Moun...

That was great. But a few improvements could be to still have the camera hanging and attach 1 to 3 kg of weights below it to make it more steady. It will take out the high frequency shaking and it will help it roll along the rope better too. I would suggest this to anyone making their own cable cam. You could do this with any cable cam to make it more steady
Hi Maia Media
I just make one by myself and it was super cool. it works so good !!
Thanks alot for sharing the idea :)
Yeah, we used skateboard wheels because they're a little thicker. We secured the skate wheel to a drill bit which made it rotate and then applied pressure using a sharp object. You need a friend or a good clamp!
Looked amazing, I really thought the results where great :)
great! Thank you for sharing!
you could also try using the rachet from a set of tie downs to crank it tight
Now I get it! :) Thanks!!
That's so epic.
Cool! I think it needs more weight coz the GoPro is too light.
I think you guys are gonna wanna build a replica of my Highball Blog steadicam (for GoPro, compacts and DSLRs)
Great Idea man! I started with it but can't get a good "canal" in my rollerblade weels, should I use skateboard weels? How did you do it?
Great video! Where was it shot?
Hi - We just stretched it by hand and tied a truckers hitch at one end. Good luck!
Hello Maia Media really enjoyed your video "How to make your own DIY Cable Cam GoPro" on RUclips.
I tried but could not get here in Brazil, found the Internet a few pieces you use.
Please could you send me the linke sites in the USA where I can buy the following parts that you describe in your "I'm Blogging"
3. 1 "ball & plate with 1/4" male threaded post
4. Double socket arm twist
5. Dimond based plate & 1 "ball
Thanks and a hug
Bily
What materials did you use to assemble this?
Hi ;)
Can you tell me what you use to stretch the rope in to the tree?
Thanks :)
can you tell us the name of the soundtrack? thanks!
Can you message me your email? I am trying to build something like this for my business and am just not crafty enough to build something like this without absolute intensive instructions. I would be inclined to pay generously for a cablecam that is customized for what I need. It probably won't need to be as big or extensive as this one, but I still don't know enough to build my own.
cool.
Gravity. Looks like the cable is set at a slight angle going down the hill, so it just flows smoothly from top to bottom.
