DIY Cable Cam for gopro, [remote contoll, brushless motor]

- In this video i'll show you my cable cam it's not 100% finished yet but it's ready to use, i just work a bit more on motor vibration at low rpm.
Component i use:
-aluminium frame with two wheels
-1:10 rc car system (1489kv sensored motor & esc) there is a bit too much rpm, if you got motor with less than 1000kv it will be perfect for direct drive
-2s5000mAh lipo battery (7,4V)
-stepup circuit for power the videotransmitter with 12V
-RC filter to power videtransmitter
-reaceiver&transmitter Using only 3channels of 12 on my futaba t12FG
-DYS 3axis gopro gimbal

This is awesome! What did you use for the drive wheel?
Just a 20-25mm aluminium wheel direct on motor shaft, that wheel got a groove size of wrope, and than anotger tiny grew(3mm wide) where come rubber o ring, for better grip to wrope.

it's a bought gimbal (DYS Smart3 3 Axis GoPro Gimbal with AlexMos Control Board)
I wonder what can be the best way to tighten a cable in a large hall/venue (indoor) without attaching to walls. I was thinking of heavy crank stands, or is there a better way?
huh i don't got any idea how to mount without some infastructure... maybe you can use some heavy crank stand, but there is not small force my friend, i tighten rope as i can here but few runs and camera was almost in the grass, because rope is stretched in a few runs, so i must tighten it every few times.
Im planning on building one of these for using indoors as well. Let me know if you come up with a good way to do it. I'm thinking wooden stands with weight added to them would be sturdy enough.

I am willing to built a same device like yours. Today I started with buying a 6 channel remote + reveiver and right now I am looking for a 3 axes gimbal.
Could you make a short list of the electronic devices you used please. Maybe direct into the video description not only in the answers of some comments. I mean it is alright to read them all cause there aren't so much but if the useful information were right under the video it would be perfect.
Unfortunately I didn't get all of the words you said cause your music is so "loud" even in your speaking parts.

hy, thanks, i edit the description, if there something else just ask, about motor i can't tell you wich is perfect, because if you want to go fast there was problem in slow movement, and if you want smoot slow movement, the end speed wasn't fast, there will be perfect if you make some quick realese coupling for motor so you can change the motor depend on what result you want heave.

All true, but you don't need exactly this parts, i choose it, because i got it from old pproject, battery i used from rc car, receiver you got by the transmitter you buy, there are thousnd of different reaceiver and all got the sam function, ESC (speed contoler) you must bought depend of motor choose, but if you take 80A there will be enough power, maybe look for some outrunner motor for less KV (outrunner can get with less than 900kv)
if you got some friend who playing with rc models, ask him about and he will tell you how this going...

it's problem in motor, i didn't try yet but i think brushed motor will work better, because it got much more torque at low rpm, brushless motor somekind loose steps if we overload it into low rpm so it make vibrations, like car engine...
But with brushed power there coud be problem on high speed, lot of consumption, heating...
Perfect choose will be some servo motor but they'r very expencive

@@cristianosox the best solution will be brushless motor and a transmittion with two or 3 gear, and servo for shifting them, i thinking in that way, but project stuck on that point, because barley filming outdoor so only use 1-2 times per year.

This is like a mini spider cam. Really cool project. Just to clarify. You modified the remote to control the Gimbal?
Walter Wu thanks, yes i use 3 channels, one for control the main motor and two channel for controll the gimbal.
tintek33 so you need to change the frequency to match the Gimbal?
Walter Wu no the transmetter and reaceiver is basic rc for control rc plane, boat cars... Gimbal don't got the buildin reaceiver, it only got ppm input so you connect the gimbal and reaceiver wit pice of wire.
tintek33 cool. If I ever get round to having those parts may do something like this. Let me get my connectors for the battery then will try the osmo battery first

Thanks, it's hard to say because component is old and were expencive those days, but today lets say...
Gimbal about $50
Motor, esc $50
Battery $20
AV transmitter and reaceiver $30
And a bit more electronic lets say about $10
Lcd and remote got from other project but remote with reaceiver can be buy for 20-30$
Lcd 10-20$
And a frame is diy, let's say $50.
But as i say i got everything from rc models and older project so i don't buy nothing for this project.

Sure, but there will be more vibration duting low rpm, maybe even brushed motor will be better.

MarcoCanalePerola It takes like 10 minutes to draw the sides of the frame in cad and if you dont have a laser cutter or cnc you just gotta do it the old fashinoed way with a file and angle grinder.

Tar Károly thanks, yes you can use this gimbal, you just need enough power motor and esc, there is nothing to programming except trabsmitter for some limits or speed adjustment.
Thanks, then what do you use is not enough to move such a gimbal? I'm sorry I'm starting in electronics. If I guess the bigger spindle I need a controller that I can control with a remote control. How do I get the engine and the gimbal control?
gimbal and motor controller (ESC) connect to reaceiver (2 channel for gimbal and one for motor esc) reaceiver come together with transmitter.
If you don't know much about this type of electronic, find some local friend who work with radio contolled models (cars, boat, mlticopter whathewer, they all got ESC transmitter, reaceiver and battery.)
