The Cannon is the Best Invasion Weapon - Elden Ring

- In terms of natural invasions, the cannon by far is the most effective tool at winning them, at least below meta level. With thoughtful usage of it, you can easily ambush and take out a take with 1-2 well-placed shots, especially if you have a cliff to knock em off. Even at close range, you can release it on reaction to any action they do, making it difficult for inexperienced players to counter.
This video is just a footage dump of a few invasions where I primarily utilized the cannon, and thus has no more commentary. I have much more footage left over from various things that I may not be able to find a proper video to make from, so you may want to expect a couple more of these footage dump videos as I clear my drive.

And then one weirdly dressed dude arrived in the Lands Between and changed all that.
Light bows can also use the effects of greatbow arrows (the damage isn’t increased however). To do it, equip great arrows in arrow slot 1 and regular arrows in arrow slot 2. Then queue an attack that uses the arrows of slot 2 and immediately press the button to shoot the arrows of slot 1 before the animation ends. Using this you can equip golem arrows and do the same amount of knock back as a canon but it’s horrifically more spamable.
inb4 this gets patched like 4 months after it's popular
The cannon is good but have you tried rivers of blood its weaponart is really underrated imho and if that doesnt work theyres a special helmet swap tech you can try out ;)

Whenever somebody says "Miyazaki hates invaders" I point them to the cannon
I look at it more like if there's a 3v1 the gank doesn't push forward because they have the numbers and have no reason to, and the invader doesn't because they're alone and will just get blendered on 1 bad call so the optimal thing is for both sides to do nothing to not waste resources. But the cannon, much like Millwood in DS3, has an AoE and high damage even at ranges where the game doesn't even render the other player forcing the other players to either wait out several hundred arrows or start approaching. At the very least this forcing of interaction makes invasions end more quickly making the experience better or at least "less bad" than it could be
@@axis8396 Absolutely, and tbh this is one of my few frustrations with the overall invasion mechanic.
In the early days of a Souls game, all your invasions are organic - players are trying to advance the level, so they have an incentive to move forward. As the game ages however, players are often there just to gank. Then, there is 0 incentive to move forward. So, you end up with the shitty equilibrium where nobody wants to be the first mover.
My (admittedly not great) idea was for something like 'bonfire fog' which would slowly spread and envelop the level. This would incentivize the home team to start moving.
You have to force the host and his squad to move, rather than the invaders, because gankers give up the least by moving (the 'least cost avoider' solution).
3:12 This annoys me to this day. The projectile hitting an obstacle that isn't within the reticle
i've played a lot tf2 with the soldier, and still hit my face with a rocket (the proyectile with the normal rocket launcher cames on the right of the screen) , but i never thought i would find something even more annoying and weird as the arc of the cannons in elden ring.
Another mouse and keyboard player. We love to see it. I wondered months back if the sniping accuracy you’d get with a mouse would make something like this viable and I guess it does.
Anytime I use a bow I move my right hand from the controller to the mouse...
Well, I play on console but find it easy to hit with such large splash damage. Very viable if you ask me, even without a mouse.

Isnt there the E button to select and R to remove. Theyr pretty close to each other too
I'm still learning how to do it but there's some things that helped me
1. Put your swaps directly above and below your "main" weapon and use the scroll wheel to select them
2. Put your swaps at the very top or very bottom of your inventory window and mash C/V to scroll to them

These tips help me with hardswapping as fast as possible without looking at my menu, but ngl 9/10 of the time I still use my mouse to select and swap weapons. Good luck tarnished.

Sanguine noble chest piece. You can get it from invader in Consecrated Snowfield (spawns near giant trees with dogs patrolling around)
projectile weapons feel screwed over in this game, i mean atleast with spells theres a range limit even though they can one shot but theres literally a weapon art with unlimited range that oneshots
like they're not bad, in a lot of cases theyre just as good as if not better than that giant flame spell its just theres a few things that overshadow it by being outright broken
After the utter disrespect/uselessness proyectiles in general had in dark souls 3, i think miyazaki did proyectiles in elden ring just as strong as melee on purpose so there wasn't an incentive to find a new "bow glitch".

I wished there were more hand cannon, ballista types of weapons, there’re so fun to use. The only think I dislike is the auto reload, It would be cool if you can cancel it by rolling.
The auto reload is there so you can't just sit still with the cannon aimed and wait for your opponent to start an animation. If they dodge it they can punish you.
