    2:00 To anyone performing this operation. Right after you opened the door with the emergency key off the car, put the plastic key cap right back in into the key handle. If you lost or loose that plastic key cap, you're not going to like the way your car will to look like.

      Will there be an ECU problem if this operation is done?

    • @ravenbonanza1522
      @ravenbonanza1522 2 года назад

      @@hajibrodear No, it will just loose all the settings in the memory (seat adjustment settings, favorite radio stations, etc. You have to re-enter it again. Be careful when installing the new battery, avoid any sparks as it "may" damage the ECU

    I bought a c tec stop and start battery charger, with this charger you can charge either by the cigar contact or direct on the battery

    Heya Ant & Tec, super video thanks for keeping it simple and no mad music. After following the video, I replaced my battery with the same spec as your battery but Halfords version if it, and now my driver mode selector won't work as well as my driver control module for the electric windows and mirrors for the passenger side. Also comes up with rear child lock failure. The weird thing is that sometimes it works and they all work together, but then it goes back to not working and all stop working at the same time. Massively weird.. can you advise if possible? It's a 2016 xf r sport 6 sps manual

      Thanks for the nice comments. Not sure those faults sound battery related, (so long as it's charged up).
      You will need to put a code reader on it to see what fault codes have been generated. Has the car battery been jumped across to another car when it has been dead? - sometimes that can cause issues with modules...

      @ANTandTEC Heya, no havent jumped started at all. There is no engine light on the dash, but I will get a diagnostic on it. Getting nervous now🤷‍♂️

      Also check the other cables to the battery connectors, and inside the plastic box on the side. Check for any connections / fuses that may have become be loose when it was moved 👍

      @@ianchristie5384 I would assume so - I don't have that car anymore to check. I am not saying it is this but worth checking, especially as the issue is intermittent.

    Hey, did you reset the BMS? I’m going to get my XF battery charged soon just wondering if the BMS is must reset, and if you didn’t reset it, how is it so far for you? Many thanks!

      Everything worked fine.
      As I understand it the car 'learns' over time how much capacity the battery has. It uses this to control when systems should be switched off to conserve power for critical systems.
      So even without programming it should come back into line.

    I've put the Varta G14 in my XFR, made in Germany like the Bosch but about £50 cheaper and with "Silver Technology" whatever that does.

    Hi Ant. Did you need to get the car programmed to tell it that the battery had been changed? Does the stop start work after changing the battery? Thanks Steve

      Keep the charger attached if you want to try and retain memory settings of systems in the car.
      It's not nesseccary though.
      I didn't keep it connected and I didn't seem to lose any settings.

    I think the battery you fitted was 95ah as appose to 80ah original, can you confirm this? The length of the new battery was also slightly longer.

    • @ANTandTEC
      @ANTandTEC  11 месяцев назад

      I can't confirm the Ah rating of the original or the length to be fair. I can confirm that the one I fitted is one of the approved Jaguar batteries for this vehicle. If it was a higher Ah then this would not be an issue at all. I am sure the length was exactly that same, but it was longer, it did not stop it from being correctly mounted.

    You touched both terminals of the charging , lucky the power was off , you would of had a bit of a burnt hand , and you were saying leave the charger on ,
    Not good practice to show this

    • @ANTandTEC
      @ANTandTEC  Год назад +3

      When I touched them the power was on. 12 volts can not burn you, can't even feel it.
      The suggestion to leave the charger on and connected is an attempt to save any car settings that would usually get lost with a disconnected battery.

      @@ANTandTEC your car runs off the battery, so disconnecting the battery will stop the power to the parts you are trying to save , and telling someone to disconnect a battery when its still under charge is cleaver , put a spanner accross the pos and new see how your hand burns . • @ANTandTEC
      @ANTandTEC  Год назад

       @davidwarnes5158 Putting a spanner across a charged battery will generate much heat correct, the car battery can supply many amps of current.
      What I did was to keep the charger on to the cars wiring and so that when the battery is disconnected power is retained.
      The new battery in the video is charged, but there is no problem touching those terminals.

    • @davidwarnes5158
      @davidwarnes5158 Год назад

      @@ANTandTEC touching one at a time no issue , you had a dead battery and charger was off when you touched them , look no lights or voltage in the display , get your facts right .
      By putting a charger on your jump and charge points doesn't stop a power connection to the car , they just run to the battery for charging only not supply .
      The battery internal in your computer is what remembers the radio code , the same as your laptop remembers the date and time when the battery is dead . Like I said any charging is killed when you disconnect the battery terminal ,
