The very first game of the action-adventure franchise, featuring Lara Croft as she sets out on an expedition to recover a mysterious artifact called the Scion.

This was the first ever 3D game I ever beat. I got a PS1 as a kid, but only had this and Rayman for several years. Rayman is basically impossible, and I was never able to get past that nonsense where you're on the flying maracas, but I got so good at Tomb Raider I can do no-damage pistol-only runs lol

It may have been tank controls, but they were damn solid tank controls. You could always rely on this game to do exactly what you told it to do and for Lara to always do the same thing.

It's literally impossible to get all secrets due to a bug in the game.

@@jinc.6180 In certain versions, I've read. They missed the second secret in The Great Pyramid.

If you were really concerned to know how long it would take to get all intended secrets, you could probably consider the skipped secret to add around 20 seconds(purely estimate), unless a glitch is available to get to faster. You could argue that not getting it kinda goes against the spirit of the run, which I can definitely understand. But I guess if the max you can get by the stats screen is 2/3 then it's also understandable that only 2 were obtained.

Both the second and third secrets for The Great Pyramid were wrongly programmed to be #3, so if you trigger one of them the game doesn't trigger the other one and vice-versa (because it thinks you already got it). The second one is located on the background ledge at 1:04:42, and since it takes a long time to get to it, the TASer opted for just unlocking the third secret instead. As the unmodded PSX version can't show more than 2/3 secrets on that level, there's really nothing wrong with it from a technical standpoint.

I think TR3 and TR5 were the only ones to reward getting all the secrets. Usually the secret itself offers a reward like powerful weapons and extra ammo and health kits.

​@@Ninetails2000 you get infinite ammos in all TR when you get all secrets, but i don't remember there is a special weapon in TR3 when you get all secrets, idk about TR5 tho

I always try to imagine how these old games would have played if Sony had the idea for the Dual Analog controller from the beginning and bundled it with the PS1. TR especially would have massively benefited from free 3D character/camera movement and not the tank controls we have now that aged like milk in the summer sun.

Yes, Lara died in St Francis Folly and the Cistern in this run, but you can die and still finish the level

Yeah, I paused the exact frame of the stats of The Great Pyramid and it says " Secrets 2 of 3", so he didn't get all the secrets in the game
