No its not. Stealing cars is a fun type of gameplay and driving is a racing game essentially. Also you can be on your horse for up to five minutes going from one city to another. Sometimes I just want to fast travel from the map instead of this stagecoach, train bullshit.

Christopher Columbus I enjoyed the original red dead revolver on ps2. I loved Red Dead Redemption. I cannot express my emotions for Red Dead 2. I don’t know if that qualifies as overhype but this game blew my expectations out of the water. A have a few complaints about the stamina and dead eye system but it’s really not that bad. Everything I could have wanted in a sequel and more. I could not believe it.

Herding cattle for 2 hours is not fun or compelling. If a piece of content doesn't isn't either of those, it has every reason to be criticized. Having playrrd do boring, uncompelling activities before getting to the fun parts is just bad game design, and has nothing to do with player patience.

The amount of things to do in these games is what makes them fun. Quality does matter, but if you didnt like an activity, there were plenty more to try out. I think it ultimately comes down to opinion whether or not you enjoy the activities presented. There were plenty of fun things to do in the first game and there are even more in the second. Do I think these games are perfect, no, but they're damn solid experiences.
I guess the bounties are kind of like fetch quest with extra steps. But that's a completely optional thing to make some extra cash. The game is incredible.

That's the biggest load of trash I've heard, I've been gaming since the 80s my friend, and i find this to be as far from a game I've played, it's very slow, boring, clunky, combat, shooting all feels very mediocre, I'm one person who can't see what people are seeing in this game.

@Emperor Pepe Flavius Memus Personally I agree with you to like 100% however I personally didn't like Kingdom Come, I felt it was really glitchy and never understood all the hype over it. But RDR2 man that's a great game no flaws besides the brawling/unarmed fighting and wanted system (gently nudging someone with your horse and practically get the WANTED: Unarmed Assault.) Other then that I adore the game.
The "clunky" movement can be changed in the controls. You can easily find a video on that somewhere on RUclips. Also, this game still has the best controls from any Rockstar game yet.
@@dohk1105 Well John is a very young man in this game and RDR1 John doesn't shy away from self-reflection. It's not so much I dislike John as it is that I have way more of a connection with Arthur than I did John Marston... and that is to the character developers and story artists credit.

@Supreme Weeb278 If it is dying, it's at the behest of creators. The main example I can think of is the Call of Duty franchise, which at one time had some pretty good campaigns. I even liked those up through the first Black Ops, but it seemed after that the quality and effort put into it just dropped off. Hell, Black Ops 4 totally omitted it. I guess I can understand as most people played the multiplayer portion, but as a fan of the pre-World at War titles, it was disheartening. As a result I haven't played anything past MW3 in years, and even then I only played local coop. Some folks love singlplayer experiences, and I'd argue they'll be here to stay, but certainly not in the same volume there once was. Multiplayer is now a focus rather than previously being an afterthought or an added bonus. Which is fine, but there can be a balance of both.

I can understand that RDR2 probably isn’t for everyone but that’s not the games fault... if your idea of a fun videogame is something like Overwatch then no, you’re probably not going to enjoy the slower, cinematic pace of a game like this.
I'm completly into fast pace games and almost always skip cutscenes in games and hate movies but this game is so beautifully detailed and well written I can't skip them lol

Hell that's pretty much all I've been doing is hunting and supplying for the camp and since I've unlocked the trapper in saint denis I've been doing hunting like crazy getting material for clothing to craft and wear
When I load certain pelts onto the back of my horse I don't always have the option to remove them when I want to. Like when I did this with a wolf pelt the only option I had was to discard it from the horse cargo menu. No way to take it off the horse and carry it to Pearson. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong/how to make it work?

If you actually click on the metacritic reviewers profiles alot of them have rated 0/10 on Xbox and then 10/10 on PS4 and vice versa etc it's actually quite funny.

I actually partially agree with that. I'm still happy I bought it for the Ps4Pro but when it has to render a lot of effects it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. But that would make more sense on a review for the Ps4 than on any specific game.
I dont get why every single game has to fast paced nowadays. The 1890s were simple times, make sure you got a place to sleep and food to eat and thats it. Are these people just jumping on hype trains without asking themselves "do i like western movies, nature and open world gameplay?". It's as if i was to buy a call of duty and then complain about not having any puzzles because i usually play adventure games.
There is a gay guy, he works in one of the train stations, you meet him in a mission and when they leave Arther says "what the hell was that?" as if he's never seen a gay guy before.
Maybe some sort of potato emulator? Occasionally there are some very bad emulation attempts on the tail end of console generations, which are always terrible, buggy, and extremely resource intensive.

It might be that this person played a different game and then put the review on Metacritic believing no one would notice. It's like people that defend the Last Jedi, some of them make up a fake movie and say "that fake movie I watched in my head was better than what we got in this movie, therefore The Last Jedi is fantastic".
The beginning of the game is slow to set the atmosphere and give the players a gradual payoff when they enter the larger map, kinda like what Zelda BOTW did, but on a smaller scale.
To be fair, you realize BOTW is styled like a comic book and 10x easier and less strenuous than trying to replicate a realistic, breathing world where literally everything interacts with each other?

I’ve had zero fetch quest, I’ve been totally intrigued by the story and the side missions. The entire atmosphere of just walking around and being able to interact with everything just goddamn; No game has ever lived up to expectations this high and surpass those expectations.

Played the game since it came out, And finished it yesterday. Amazing game the amount of Content The voice Acting,Combat,Story,Characters,Visuals,Side missions,Hunting,Honor System, and many many more People were saying Arthur Morgan couldn't possibly beat John Marston's story, Welp they were wrong. As one of those salty PC gamers, I can't just not play this for a year. I've taken every opportunity to play a save I started on my brother in law's xbox and am about to get myself a console. Kind of wanted to play some sports games anyway, I suppose lol. But nothing has made me want to jump ship like RDR2. But I am still salty about it and will remain salty about rockstar's affinity for waiting a year minimum to release PC versions, if they even do. Doesn't affect the masterpiece that is the game though.

I can see the 13-15 yo kid sitting in front of his tv, confused during the first minutes of the game like; "How do i get credits?" "Where is online mode?" "Why is my horse so slow?". If you spent the last couple of years playing GTAV and expect RDR2 to have the same cocain-balls to the balls-speed to it, then dont play RDR2, its probably not for you. If you played the first one however, and patiently waited 8 years for the next one like i did, you will love this game.
I mean I'm 15, played GTA V for maybe 2 years and didn't play the first RDR, only 16% done with RDR2 and I can safely conclude this is the best game I've ever played.
Im 11 and i Never played the first RDR but I played gta 5 when I was 9 I loved it so much but my parents didn't let me play online when I found out RDR2 was a game made by rockstar I automatically jumped off my chair and into game stop and I love the game and understand it for the most part. Next time just say a 9-15 year old kid who plays fortnite or call of duty all day (not to mention I hate those games)
I played RDR when I was around 5 or 6 and still remember how it was, to me it was amazing, I liked how it was slow and fast at times. I was young and kinda impatient on it however. Now I'm 12 (yeah ik) and I still love it, fast and slow-paced at the same time. Great characters, side missions and main missions, great detail, and it's realistic enough but not too much to kill me I'm mostly here to show some 12 yo's like the game
Please do not generalize the age groups, some of us actually do know what good games are and what are terrible games. My favourite game is The Witcher 3 because of how well made it was. It’s Story and characters were well crafted. To be honest I really hate battle Royale games or even most shooters. I only like the early Call of Duty’s (mainly for their stories) and Battlefield.

I replayed the first game recently and it hasn’t aged well (which makes sense). The new one is 10x better and the missions and maps are so much bigger than the first one.

In my opinion, game developers are hyping their games too much these days, instead of just showing the game for what it is. But I also get why, it's a competitive industry, and they have to sell what they make. Games aren't really innovating these days, but do they really have to be? I think the gaming experience is so much more important. It's like reading a book or watching a movie, but you're interacting with it. And if you compare this industry to the movie or book industries, it is neither better or worse. Unshaken* ( This song made me think very hard on everything within the game and in my real life ). See The Fire In Your Eyes* ( This song made me cry, smile and feel very proud it also gave me the encouragement to keep fighting in real life ). @aland hama The multiplayer looks pretty bad, the zombies mode looks more unappealing than ever, I constantly hear of people getting major lag spikes and servers randomly disconnecting and just general instability. Doesn't seem too great imo. The blackout does look like fun I'll give it that. If they chopped it off the main game and sold it for like $20-$25 I'd buy it...

It's a western... Of course there's a tonne of horse riding. The world that rockstar has made here makes it an absolute joy to ride through. I guess if you're no older than like 15, then you probably won't enjoy it as it's a mature game and not an over the top explosive action experience. Not to mention it's rated 18+ anyway. I'm enjoying this game so much that I literally can't get enough of it. For me this is game of the generation and is an absolute masterpiece.
You can also set the riding to automatic with the cinematica camera... I sit back, drink my coffee and enjoy the scenery as Arthur rides to his destination.

I love the game, I played it on my friends ps4 and I play call of duty bo4 on PC and I guess that means I'm a COD player who doesnt like new controls now, stop stereotyping. Also I am a PC player and I have a right to be upset that the game is not out on PC because it's just unacceptable at this point to delay a release for one system. besides those complaints it's a good game, Id give it a 7/10 maybe a 9 if it had released on PC but I have a right to be upset that a game did not come out on my system on choice because it is EASY AS FUCK to release on PC and there is no excuse not to besides wanting to milk sales on console then make people buy a second time on PC.

I was 10 when I first played Red Dead and I immediately fell in love. I just loved the gameplay, the characters, man even the graphics, I cried my eyes out at the end and when the second game was announced I almost cried of joy. Yesterday I completed the story and man... there are the same tears from the first game... These games mean so much to me, and watching your video, where you protect them from ungrateful, stupid people makes me really happy!😊 Thank you.
Of course the game isn't perfect but most of these "reviews" are just trolling nonsense. No wonder many of them get deleted. And most of the people complaining about the game being too slow and boring just have a attention span of a goldfish. The beginning is a bit slow, yes. But that's all part of the story. If there are no explosions and big shootouts within the first few hours the whole game is automatically boring.

Got Redeademption 2 for my Nintendo U today. Ran at a solid 59 fps, which triggered my perfectionist urge to have it at 60 fps. This completely ruined the game for me. I have mailed the disc to Rockstar and am currently awaiting a full refund.

@@thelegendfatherofgiants3471 nah the horses have a bug right now where they randomly fling themselves to the bottom of a cliff. It happen like 3 or 4 times through my playthrough of the whole campaign.
The one criticism I have is the player movement, GTA V and Max Payne 3 had a good balance between smoothness and fun with a bit of realism.. With RDR2 they just went all the way with realism and it takes away from some of the fun sometimes when you’re in combat, shit feels like I’m controlling Arthur from a couple strings attached to him rather than actually controlling HIM. Still doesnt take away from the fun I’m having with it though which shows how good this game is, thats my only gripe with it though.

Strictly Pineapple idk I’ve put over 30 hours into the game so far, im definitely more used to it but it’s still really sluggish, I hope they add some kind of patch to fix the movement kind of like what the Witcher 3 did, less realistic but a lot more fun to play and I think that’s more important tbh. I honestly wish they would have copied and pasted the template from max payne 3 because that’s rockstars best combat and movement yet in my opinion

steve to each there own... I prefer the fast fluid gameplay to the sluggish realistic style. And I’ve changed the settings, you can only do so much with the options they give you. Game still feels super slow, I hope they put in a patch for this cause a lot of people are making complaints about it I’ve seen

Complaining about too much horse riding in Red Dead Redemption is like complaining about too much stealing cars and driving in GTA.
No its not. Stealing cars is a fun type of gameplay and driving is a racing game essentially. Also you can be on your horse for up to five minutes going from one city to another. Sometimes I just want to fast travel from the map instead of this stagecoach, train bullshit.

I don’t know if that qualifies as overhype but this game blew my expectations out of the water. A have a few complaints about the stamina and dead eye system but it’s really not that bad. Everything I could have wanted in a sequel and more. I could not believe it.

The amount of things to do in these games is what makes them fun. Quality does matter, but if you didnt like an activity, there were plenty more to try out. I think it ultimately comes down to opinion whether or not you enjoy the activities presented. There were plenty of fun things to do in the first game and there are even more in the second. Do I think these games are perfect, no, but they're damn solid experiences.

That's the biggest load of trash I've heard, I've been gaming since the 80s my friend, and i find this to be as far from a game I've played, it's very slow, boring, clunky, combat, shooting all feels very mediocre, I'm one person who can't see what people are seeing in this game.

@Emperor Pepe Flavius Memus Personally I agree with you to like 100% however I personally didn't like Kingdom Come, I felt it was really glitchy and never understood all the hype over it. But RDR2 man that's a great game no flaws besides the brawling/unarmed fighting and wanted system (gently nudging someone with your horse and practically get the WANTED: Unarmed Assault.) Other then that I adore the game.
The "clunky" movement can be changed in the controls. You can easily find a video on that somewhere on RUclips. Also, this game still has the best controls from any Rockstar game yet.

@Supreme Weeb278 If it is dying, it's at the behest of creators. The main example I can think of is the Call of Duty franchise, which at one time had some pretty good campaigns. I even liked those up through the first Black Ops, but it seemed after that the quality and effort put into it just dropped off. Hell, Black Ops 4 totally omitted it. I guess I can understand as most people played the multiplayer portion, but as a fan of the pre-World at War titles, it was disheartening. As a result I haven't played anything past MW3 in years, and even then I only played local coop. Some folks love singlplayer experiences, and I'd argue they'll be here to stay, but certainly not in the same volume there once was. Multiplayer is now a focus rather than previously being an afterthought or an added bonus. Which is fine, but there can be a balance of both.

Hell that's pretty much all I've been doing is hunting and supplying for the camp and since I've unlocked the trapper in saint denis I've been doing hunting like crazy getting material for clothing to craft and wear
When I load certain pelts onto the back of my horse I don't always have the option to remove them when I want to. Like when I did this with a wolf pelt the only option I had was to discard it from the horse cargo menu. No way to take it off the horse and carry it to Pearson. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong/how to make it work?

The beginning of the game is slow to set the atmosphere and give the players a gradual payoff when they enter the larger map, kinda like what Zelda BOTW did, but on a smaller scale.

I’ve had zero fetch quest, I’ve been totally intrigued by the story and the side missions. The entire atmosphere of just walking around and being able to interact with everything just goddamn; No game has ever lived up to expectations this high and surpass those expectations.

Played the game since it came out, And finished it yesterday. Amazing game the amount of Content The voice Acting,Combat,Story,Characters,Visuals,Side missions,Hunting,Honor System, and many many more People were saying Arthur Morgan couldn't possibly beat John Marston's story, Welp they were wrong. And yes i have played all the RDR games, Revolver and RDR1 This by far is the best game 2018 has to offer. Really set the bar High,Replaying it as more of an outlaw than a good guy this time. Only game i can see in the future coming close or probably better is Cyberpunk2077.

This quests are FAR from fetch quests. Fetch quests are,Go there take that and come back to me. No dialogue,No cutscene, Not much action, No interaction. As one of those salty PC gamers, I can't just not play this for a year. I've taken every opportunity to play a save I started on my brother in law's xbox and am about to get myself a console. Kind of wanted to play some sports games anyway, I suppose lol. But nothing has made me want to jump ship like RDR2.
But I am still salty about it and will remain salty about rockstar's affinity for waiting a year minimum to release PC versions, if they even do. Doesn't affect the masterpiece that is the game though.

I can see the 13-15 yo kid sitting in front of his tv, confused during the first minutes of the game like; "How do i get credits?" "Where is online mode?" "Why is my horse so slow?".
If you spent the last couple of years playing GTAV and expect RDR2 to have the same cocain-balls to the balls-speed to it, then dont play RDR2, its probably not for you.

I played RDR when I was around 5 or 6 and still remember how it was, to me it was amazing, I liked how it was slow and fast at times. I was young and kinda impatient on it however.

Please do not generalize the age groups, some of us actually do know what good games are and what are terrible games. My favourite game is The Witcher 3 because of how well made it was. It’s Story and characters were well crafted. To be honest I really hate battle Royale games or even most shooters. I only like the early Call of Duty’s (mainly for their stories) and Battlefield.

It's a western... Of course there's a tonne of horse riding. The world that rockstar has made here makes it an absolute joy to ride through. I guess if you're no older than like 15, then you probably won't enjoy it as it's a mature game and not an over the top explosive action experience. Not to mention it's rated 18+ anyway. I'm enjoying this game so much that I literally can't get enough of it. For me this is game of the generation and is an absolute masterpiece.
And if they have a problem with riding. They can upgrade their camp and fast travel for free. So that's half the riding.
If only i was born in 2003 and not 2004 then i'd truly enjoy it.
You can also set the riding to automatic with the cinematica camera... I sit back, drink my coffee and enjoy the scenery as Arthur rides to his destination.

I just loved the gameplay, the characters, man even the graphics, I cried my eyes out at the end and when the second game was announced I almost cried of joy. Got Redeademption 2 for my Nintendo U today. Ran at a solid 59 fps, which triggered my perfectionist urge to have it at 60 fps. This completely ruined the game for me. I have mailed the disc to Rockstar and am currently awaiting a full refund.

Panquake 321 Most of the opinions were just mindless hate on the game. The only real good complaint was that the movement is a bit clunky, but even that review was stupid because he gave a 3
Puls3 wait really? Maybe you just didn’t notice them because on PS4 pro I definitely noticed them (I have a 4K setup and everything) for instance, I did notice the frame rate drop from time to time and I also noticed the blurryness in the game, idk maybe just me

@@thelegendfatherofgiants3471 nah the horses have a bug right now where they randomly fling themselves to the bottom of a cliff. It happen like 3 or 4 times through my playthrough of the whole campaign.
The one criticism I have is the player movement, GTA V and Max Payne 3 had a good balance between smoothness and fun with a bit of realism.. With RDR2 they just went all the way with realism and it takes away from some of the fun sometimes when you’re in combat, shit feels like I’m controlling Arthur from a couple strings attached to him rather than actually controlling HIM. Still doesnt take away from the fun I’m having with it though which shows how good this game is, thats my only gripe with it though.
1DayVd you will get used to it then you will be happy because I like the realism and it feels great idk if you could turn up sensitivity Ima try it today to turn around faster but I feel it’s better than gta and max payne because it’s more immersive gta felt weird
Strictly Pineapple idk I’ve put over 30 hours into the game so far, im definitely more used to it but it’s still really sluggish, I hope they add some kind of patch to fix the movement kind of like what the Witcher 3 did, less realistic but a lot more fun to play and I think that’s more important tbh. I honestly wish they would have copied and pasted the template from max payne 3 because that’s rockstars best combat and movement yet in my opinion
@@1DayVd nah I dont like the new movement in Witcher 3. Geralt is reacting way to fast and that looks weird....
Search on the internet for better control settings in RDR2, the default settings are a mess
steve to each there own... I prefer the fast fluid gameplay to the sluggish realistic style. And I’ve changed the settings, you can only do so much with the options they give you. Game still feels super slow, I hope they put in a patch for this cause a lot of people are making complaints about it I’ve seen
@@1DayVd Should be really interesting if they will decide to change the slow gameplay because a lot of people (including me) like it, and a lot dont like (you included).
I consider myself as an older gamer with 30 years and I do not like fast games anymore because they stress me a lot. The slow gameplay of RDR2 is perfect for me where I can sit back and enjoy
