There’s just no other open world game I can fully appreciate after experiencing rdr2. Nothing else compares. The amount of detail and realism in this game still amazes me. I’ve beaten the game about 3 times but I’m trying to complete the entire game 100% now. Since then, I’ve discovered so many hidden Easter eggs, stories, mysteries and so much more when free roaming. Take away the story itself, the stranger missions and all the other free roam activities could be its own game. That’s how crazy this game truly is. Sleep, wake up, shave, get a coffee, chat to some people, feed/brush my horse, go fish for a while, come back to camp do a few chores moving hay bales cut firewood, eat some stew play some poker/dominos sleep again and then maybe after it all do a mission. *sighs* If only real life could be that simple.

I literally do that too. Sometimes I'll play for an hour and not do a single story mission. Just routine stuff like chopping wood, chatting to people at camp, pop into town and get a pub meal, drink and play some poker and ride my horse back to camp to sleep.
It´s not. God of War is also a masterpiece with lots of good stuff and details. But it´s better considering smaller budget and smaller developer company than Rockstar is :) That´s why GoW deserved the recognition. RDR2 won in other categories, in which GoW was also very good.

The problem is that CDPR also faked the gameplay videos AND for the initial gameplay reviews they gave a dev kit version of the game that was purposely limited so the reviewers wouldn't know that all of the game besides the little areas they played was unfinished and filled with bugs. Which explains the great reviews the game had before launch, and why you should never trust in a "videogame journalist" ever. CDPR deserves to burn.

@@thisone981 lol Cyberpunk literally builds up over Witcher 3’s NPC a.i if you can call some 10 lines of script they follow an a.i. Thing is the game world of Witcher 3 was somewhat new, the quests, mythical lores and atmosphere managed to hide away the fact that all the civis in Witcher 3 also followed a single behaviour. But the varieties were greater. Like women plucking feathers from birds to sell them, washing clothes, men working in the fields, gardening and more. A single set of animations from these was assigned to a certain NPC and nothing else. Geralt wasn’t allowed to interact openly with NPCs like a proper sandbox. It was a simple spell but it worked.

ItzMeFizzie Ubisoft make the junk food of video games. No substance, and you immediately put it down for a real meal like this game. Ubi just make open world collectathons with poor written stories, that all copy the AC2 formula, (family member dies, you do the whole game to avenge them) but copy it with no soul
@Rumble Jungle It comes down to personal opinion if you like fast paced games then this game isn’t for you but what else do you expect from a game set in the wild west? Automatic rifles? Tanks? Futuristic shit? Did you expect a city after city with fancy led lights and populated with 2 million people in it? Did you expect you’d be in a fast car driving around like a maniac? Did you expect to hop on a jet and fly to your destination? And if you mean empty and shallow watch the video and prove to me that I’m wrong. I mean seriously npc routines in a game is interesting and no other game as immersive as this can compete with that. Oh wait Cybershit 2077 the npcs have no routines at all there just there to randomly disappear out of nowhere and have no emotion. In RDR2 it feels alive with a vast immersive open world set in the wild west. Even the little details count such as routines. Hell your choices matter to this is prob the only game and I mean it that makes me feel bad for killing a npc. The game actually makes me feel like a murderer just up straight blowing someones head off with that double barrel shotgun (the realism and detail you actually get for doing that) and dumping them in a river when they actually had a life and a job. Hell you actually never know you just made a women a widow and you can actually do that in the game. This game does a good job for a game set in the wild west makes me feel like a cowboy. There’s also the honour system. It’s absolutely amazing. For example lets say you committed lots of crimes and you go into a town. If you have low honour people will start reacting to you differently opening up to more and diverse dialogue. If you have high honour people will respect you more and think of you as a hero. Oh and I forgot to add that even that isn’t enough to protect you from random people who just want to kill you. Classic old west vibes. Oh also the random encounters are great. There’s this random encounter in the game when your just randomly traveling and you see an injured man down the road with his arm all bloody and infected arm. And you can choose to help him or not. If you do help him you can bring him back to a doctor and the doctor will take care of him. Hell you can just stand there and watch the doctor cut off his arm. Yes you heard me cut it off. In the west doctors weren’t that experienced and there weren’t any medicines to cure certain diseases. Oh also you can just stand there for a couple of minutes leave and come back when it’s nightfall and you can see the guy around the place (if you try to search for him of course) fully healed a cast on his arm and thanks you for helping him while also giving you some money. Oh also I believe no other game can compete with Rockstar when it comes to open world games nothing can change my mind. Now that I’ve grown and actually played their games I finally come to understand that we’ve been impatient and hating on Rockstar too much. In my opinion RDR2 is a fucking MASTERPIECE sure it has it’s flaws but compare it to EVERY single open world game out there and nothing else can compete with the amount of detail to this 2 year old MASTERPIECE. I agree that it has it’s flaws such as the online but that’s absolutely avoidable. After seeing what a disaster CP was people have to open there eyes and come out of there bubble and just appreciate what Rockstar has done to gaming. Rockstar is greedy for sure but all of that micro transaction bs and online is completely avoidable (implying that Rockstar has made games solely for singe player). Now that i’ve realized and you should have to after the disaster of CP Rockstars games such as GTA 5 and RDR2 has no competition at all. After seeing, playing, and watching RDR2 Rockstar can have all the time in the world to develop GTA 6 and RDR3 bc ik in my heart at launch they will be an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE. By the time GTA 6 or RDR3 comes out I’ll be a fully grown man and look back at RDR2 and GTA V and cry and look back at the good old times I had with them ready to play RDR3 and GTA 6.
@Rumble Jungle Not saying that CP is a bad game but the problem I have with the game is it’s cost which is 60$ but promises too much and fails to deliver def not a horrible game but not a good game either
@Rumble Jungle I know you’re referring to CP2077 and not RDR2. Because there is literally no way an otherwise halfway intelligent person could think such a thing about RDR2.
Damn, a grueling 11 hour shift moving bags of animal food only to spend all night sleeping upright against a wall while a bed mockingly places itself in front of you.
@The Morgue Nonono....like said before, only reasons why they were drunk was that there wasnt tv or computers in wild west! Just easy to understand.. there is absolutely NOTHING OUT THERE exept tv and computers. And who knew.. back then people didnt do nothing because they didnt have those, there wasnt anything else.. and now when they have those, they wont do absolutely nothing, because there isnt anything else. And of course thats true that the nature and whole world out there doesnt give you nothing! Only the machine in front of you brings everything in front of you, and then you realise that you lived your life in front of the screen watching the whole world and dreaming. Maybe they were drunk all the time in the past, but at least they lived their life and spend time in the nature.

Does it amaze anyone else that Rockstar was able to do this 3 years ago on last gen hardware and Cyberpunk couldn’t even make 1 of the NPCs have a single routine? All this does it prove how far ahead rockstar is then every game company
This isn't even hard. Have a list of actions that the npc will attempt in a select time period and loop it. You can have multiple lists and use rng to make it less noticeable. Include activator areas where the npc will work, sleep or perform another action other than walking. And do pathfinding between waypoints in the list with e.g A* algorithm. You can even make them interact with each other if they happen to enter a certain distance of one another. What is way harder is to not have the list at all but instead having an AI make that list so it's always different and dynamic. It's not only hard because of the complexity but also because it would hog resources.
This video made me sit down and rethink my own life and sanity. Next time I play RDR2 I’m gonna go around spreading positivity and kindness. From the looks of it, these people are merely depressed lifeless people who needs some positivity in their life and I in the form of Arthur Morgan will be that beacon of hope for the lost NPCs
It’s true though. Most of the have mundane tasks drawn out over the course of hours. Standing against a fence watching sheep for 2 hours isn’t working lol
Beautiful video. I’m not even a “gamer”, but it’s clear that video games are an art form and quickly surpassing most movies when it comes to quality story telling.
The classic movie is being made obsolete by the long form HBO-type series and games like this. Just so much more content and story to be told in these formats than just a 90 minute movie.
Imo story telling in games has surpassed movies long time ago specially if you played lots of RPG's. I think the way graphics has evolved in so short time is what made people realize that games actually has good story telling rivaling even the biggest movies, when visuals were not that great and games lacked voice overs the good story telling was easy to miss compared to today. My prediction is that in few decades there is no movies like today, instead i would assume its something like hybrid between movie and game coupled with VR experience, interactive movie or something like that.
alcazar123456 if you hate being a stereotypical “gamer” who always have their hands on the keyboard playing Call Of Duty 24/7. You can try being a more casual gamer you can play a heavily story driven games like The Last Of Us, The entire Uncharted Series, Bioshock Trilogy and the first Red Dead Redemption. It’s like watching a movie but with a full control in between story progression. Try it, it’s fun. Ouh, and make sure you get them on consoles so you play them in a “maximum comfortness state” so you don’t waste your entire energy on one play-through. Like I said, it’s like watching a movie and watching a movies is not supposed to burn all your energy up.

This game isn’t anything close to a normal game. The everything about this game is amazing. I can play red dead and feel exited, sad, happy, mad, bored, anything. Not what a normal game does to someone. Red dead is my safe place. When i want to escape from my reality and ignore all the problems, I get on my favorite horse and just ride along the stream, expressing my emotions not verbally nor physically, just by riding my horse. I get on my horse and Cry, Scream, Fight, let everything out. Not verbally or physically, If you get what i mean. There are things in life that speak to you differently. They speak to you so differently that you feel as if you’re the only one that feels what the game is providing for you. Red dead redemption speaks to me differently and i feel as if i am the only one that feels the emotion that it generates toward me. Damn good job rockstar, you finally broke me. Damn good job.
I get the same feeling when I play Red Dead Redemption 2. It's the first game that made me stop for a second, look around and admire the beauty it has to offer. You also never know what to expect from the game, it always suprises you in one way or another. Red Dead Redemption 2 is almost like my second reality. Can't wait to see what Rockstar games are planning for GTA 6. Hopefully something like RDR 2
I used a pump shotgun on a bunch of enemy's and I shot this one guy and his fingers came off and he screamed in pain and shock on the ground and I was like "holy shit"
Bruh same. I shot this man in his chest and he went from 100 to zero real fast. He cried out, a splash of blood came out, he then stumble ran away from me and tripped. He was coughing and blood kept splashing out of his chest. I felt deranged as he whimpered and coughed. And he weakly tried to stop his bleeding. I watched him die slowly, a puddle forming near his chest. Shit was so lit.
I shot a guy in the face with a varmint rifle, he grabbed his face and feel backwards screaming for like 2 straight minutes before his hands slowly fell from his face and died stopped me right in my tracks, I was like shit man
This gives you more depth to the NPCs which gives you even more importance to the "honour" System in the game , whenever you murder/rob/bully/bother random NPCs then you have to know that these NPCs also have lives of their own and you're having a direct impact on their lives, other games also try to implement the honour system but really never hits the point, if you kill someone it's really just another NPC that roams around aimlessly, rdr2 made NPCs more like people, truly.

Each person, each animal , each plant is living its own life and they don't give shit if you are there to witness it or not. This is the definition of a masterpieces if you're ask me about video games. God bless you. Happy 2021!
If rockstar was smart, they would import rdr1 into this or some sort of dlc because the single player of this game is on a completely different level than the online

Nobody can convince me that this isn’t hands down the greatest video game ever created.
The game constantly switching your clothes and guns for you was pretty irritating.

Cyberpunk was not in development for 8 years though. People hate on it only looking at the surface with its performance issues, in reality the game has some of the best writing and character moments I've seen in gamimg. CDPR did not disappoint in that regard
@@chriswyatt9869 yeah story are great, but alot glitch and bug makes some people don't wanna play that, also alot features were cut on CP2077, you can't get new haircut, new tattoo, or anything else like other open world games and the npc are stupid, they just walk on circle, police system are suck, they just spawn right behind you

You're talking about Rockstar employees right? XD Just joking, I'm not a hater, I love this game.
Back then, the blacks did all the work. That's when America was great for white people.
Be a gamer
Imo story telling in games has surpassed movies long time ago specially if you played lots of RPG's. I think the way graphics has evolved in so short time is what made people realize that games actually has good story telling rivaling even the biggest movies, when visuals were not that great and games lacked voice overs the good story telling was easy to miss compared to today. My prediction is that in few decades there is no movies like today, instead i would assume its something like hybrid between movie and game coupled with VR experience, interactive movie or something like that.
Critical Mass Yes, very true. Now the graphics have caught up with the stories, which as you said have been great for decades
alcazar123456 if you hate being a stereotypical “gamer” who always have their hands on the keyboard playing Call Of Duty 24/7.

Some of them will respawn but you will be able to see their enjuries and how they got treated. Like try to rob and kill the shopkeeper and then come like two days after the clash and you will be able to have interesting interactions with the specific npc and see his new model
60 hours into this game and the NPC AI still doesn't fail to impress me. Even the animals.
The way every npc reacts to the player and the surrounding is unmatched.
There are very few times when the npc ai fails.
Don't make me cry
You’re not the only one I assure you
Real shit they got a W with this one
I get the same feeling when I play Red Dead Redemption 2. It's the first game that made me stop for a second, look around and admire the beauty it has to offer. You also never know what to expect from the game, it always suprises you in one way or another. Red Dead Redemption 2 is almost like my second reality.
Can't wait to see what Rockstar games are planning for GTA 6.
