The year is 1907. It is 10 years after his disappearance from the Paris Opera House and the Phantom has escaped to a new life in New York where he lives amongst the screaming joy rides and freak-shows of Coney Island. In this new electrically-charged world, he has finally found a place for his music to soar. All that is missing is his love - Christine Daaé. Now one of the world’s finest sopranos, Christine is struggling in an ailing marriage to Raoul. So, it is with excitement she accepts an invitation to travel to New York and perform at a renowned opera house. In a final bid to win back her love, the Phantom lures Christine, her husband, and their young son Gustave from Manhattan; to the glittering and glorious world of Coney Island… not knowing what is in store for them…
The first phantom in the video was actually the original Japanese Phantom in 1989. He's still at it!
Really? That's awesome!
Silvia Luna, the girl who loves spiders He is a very popular fellow in Japan
Isn't he the oldest actor to play the Phantom?
Oh my gosh! Seriously?! That’s amazing.
Scott Hamp during 2019 Japanese production of this musical, in which he also was playing the Phantom, he was 70 y.o. already, so probably yes, he’s the oldest
I can't wait to see Japanese Meg scream Always Christine in Japanese!
“Itsumo Kurisutin!” I know it’s cringey but I think that’s how it’s said in Japanese
I love how it's the exact same costumes and set as the Australian production. It's great
Fun fact; Masachika Ichimura, the first phantom shown in this video, actually was the first Japanese phantom in 1988. Now 25 years later, he’s doing the phantom again in love never dies. So amazing
Even though I don't understand a word even though I know the lyrics.......this was beautiful
Exact same prop set up as the Australian.
and costumes
It's not the same prop setup, its the exact same props. After Australia, the show moved to Denmark and then Japan (i think).
@Nathan this is the order of all of the LND productions:
London
Melbourne
Copenhagen
Tokyo
Hamburg
and US tour
Though the singing was perfect, the original London production still received mediocre to negative reaction mainly due to the poor set design, however the Australian version fixed that problem and actually received more positive feedback.
It's reasonable that the Japanese using the sets from the Australian production.
I love seeing phantom in different languages!
This is AWESOME and BEAUTIFUL! Exactly like the Australian one.
I wanna hear the phantom shout "No" when Christine dies in his arms... Just wanna know what it sounds like in Japanese lol
I’ve watched enough animes to at least know how he’ll say it 😂
YADA!
Please sell Japanese version DVD!! 2019 stages were very good!!
I want to see a bootleg of this performance. It looks phenomenal.
The phantom actually sounds really good from 1:25 till the end! Also, did japan seriously just take everything from Australia? I mean I think that's so cool how they did that the Australian performance was amazing!
As did Germany and the US tour
i really like the lower key
That's Takeshi Kaga! He's Soichiro in the original 2015 Japanese cast of Death Note the Musical, reprising the role from the 2006 live-action films.
@@TheatreJosh24601 only the second Phantom. The first one was Masachika Ichimura
Does anyone know if there are any other videos of this would love to see the finale
I must say, I don't like the fit of the Japanese phantom's mask. I don't feel it accentuates his bone structure in the way Ben Lewis's did. This one seems far flatter and more rounded, almost like Ramin Karimloo's mask from the 2010 London LND.
There were two different Phantoms in this video. The first one was Masachika Ichimura, who originated the role in POTO in 1989, and the other was Takeshi Kaga. So, Masachika's mask was more like Ben Lewis', but Takeshi's wasn't
For everyone commenting about how it looks like the Australian version. Andrew Lloyd Webber apon seeing the Australian version decided to change all other productions to look like it.
I wish that there was a full video of this with Masachika
I'm kinda wishing this version was in traditional Japanese costumes not the western ones I think it might actually feel more genuine if you get my meaning...I know I know though they are meant to be westerners from France hence why they are in the normal costumes. but if it were in Japanese costumes it would give it a Madam butterfly feel.
This makes me want to fly
Who ever wants it to come to chicago
Keep hope alive
Because this got horrible reviews in London
Even tho the whole makes sence and its unique and creative i even cried in beneath a moonles sky
edgar carrera it's coming to Chicago February 2018 at the Cadillac Palace :)
Balois Flores No freakin' way! Are you flippin' serious? That ... is ... AWESOME!!!!!!
Kylie Mattinson haha yeah I'm so excited!
beautiful
Wow, amazing!
would love a dvd of this lol
So magic.
oh my gosh, lol. lol so many times until I cannot lol any more.
so cool they use the australian production
Great job
Has that Phantom played in anything else? He sounds a lot like the Japanese version of Jekyll and Hyde.
Exactly you are right! This phantom is Takeshi kaga. He performed in LND and JH.
00.40 Japanese Madame Giriee is great
Giry
CHICAGO NEXT YEAR FROM DECEMBER-MARCH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
How can I go this?
My parents, babysitter & sister say this plan is terrible. It is NOT! It is almost as good as phantom!!!
2025年1-2月も、再演しますよ!! まだ少しチケットが残っていますが、年内には売り切れるでしょう。
ook!😊
Takeshi Kaga !!!!!!!!
this is literally the most funniest thing I've ever watched in my life!!!
Edmundo Rodriguez jesus calm down
***** lmao thanks.... i just found that a love never dies song sung in Japanese sounds hilarious... and theres nothing racist about my statement... and actually there are white people signing in english in japan... just like in the beginning of this video
Edmundo Rodriguez i think you should look up the definition of racism before you make false and ignorant accusations. And as implicated, it was a DIFFERENT video with the same characters IN JAPAN WITH Sierra Boggess AND Ramin Karimloo. For someone who talks to people such as you, it boggles me that you even managed to get a job. Now i suggest you think before you act FYI.
Lol is that really necessary to say? Its just a damn video
***** i found it hysterical
Why am I more interested by the Japanese performance than the original one? 🤔 idk
Because they have really good actors
Can anyone tell me the name of second phantom appeared in this video?
Christine looks more like Madam Giri
hi
I need link
FUCK YES. I cannot believe finally in Japanese!!!!! :D
저 동네는 확실히 음악쪽으로는 진짜 아닌 것 같다.
this would be good if THEY DIDNT COPY LITERALLY EVERYTHING EXACTLY FROM BEN AND ANNA E
BECAUSE ITS THE EXACT SAME EVERTHING
Yeah? That was on purpose? Like... so did many other productions after them
Meg Conquest idk why i commented this it was 4 years ago
They could tried something new...
This made me laugh so hard!!!!
The London production was way better
+AlienMidget123
The London production was not better at all. The Australian production fixed all the problems and sorted Madam Giry and Megs characters out which was dull and depressing before .
I HATE IT
