Use Low Stick Sensitivity if you have C-Stick set to Smash Attacks and vice-versa for Tilts. No reasons to leave it on Normal unless you don’t use the C-Stick for anything.
@@MerryBlind completely agree. Also, if you have C-stick on smash attack, you probably have to turn off tap jump if you ever want to do an up-tilt... But personally I think tilt stick is superior. If you have C-stick on smash attack, then you can't charge them which means you are missing out on a bunch of timing options and limiting the power of your smash attacks. Of course you could input smash attacks two different ways depending on whether you want to charge them but why would you put yourself through that?
You are a lifesaver. It's my first time playing super smash bros and the uptilts were almost impossible for me outside of a training scenario. I had no idea I can map the right stick to Tilt Attacks. This changes so much and gives me a chance to actually learn combos and be able to progress and not just button mash. It's probably trivial for seasoned players but for noobs like me it's a game changer. Much appreciated!

The only other smash i ever played was 64, so i use the lower buttons for special, attack, and jump, with grab as X. Tilt attack and no jumping with the primary stick is an absolute godsend, yeah. I might try adding grab and jump to the L buttons and triggers, thanks.
I have Jump on the Right Trigger. Pressing X+ZR to actually use the short-hop macro is very comfortable because it’s like one gripping movement with your right hand. Otherwise any shoulder or trigger works just for jumping, just preferences. Though I actually find having Jump on the Left Trigger makes IDJ easier to execute…
Love your vidoes, man. I've mained Ike (and Link) since Brawl, so I have quite a few years with the Radiant Hero under my belt, but there's always something new to learn. Keep up the good work!
Tap Jump can be useful to jump and do aerials with the C-Stick, but assigning a shoulder/trigger button to Jump as you’ve recommended is better for that purpose anyway.
The problem is when you play as inkling? , holding the shield and B button only refils the ink without moving the shield with the analog stick Tip : When you go to the control settings , simply replace the ZL grab with Shield , one you fixed it , You can move the shield with two ZL shoulder buttons while you play as inkling , it's amazingly simple!
Can you explain this more; I have difficulty consistently getting drag down up-air d-smash as Joker on people , they almost always have time to shield the smash attack.

with mario my settings are both L are shield R1 is jump and R2 is grab and Y is also shield is easier to tech for me and parry when i use double shield i press L2 and Y and my c stick is smash attack and with pokemon trainer i use C stick and the same setting
Kinda late, but why isn't there a way to put smash/tilt attacks on buttons? I used to play brawl (wiimote+nunchuck) and ssf2 (controller) and you could do that. I have some difficulies directioning the right stick so I sometimes do sides instead of ups and viceversa
What are your thoughts on having two shield buttons? I know if you hold two shield buttons at once you can angle your shield without the risk of accidentally inputting a roll, but I don't know how useful that is. Maybe it will save you from a shield poke now and then? Frankly I'm nowhere near a high enough level for this to matter, but it's fun to think about...
I have the same controller setup, but I sometimes do tilts instead of smash attacks. How do you consistently do smash attacks without accidentally doing a tilt?
I have a rival In school that beat my ass with septhiroth and meta knight and I was wondering why I couldn't combo, like I wasn't bad at I could do 2 -3 chain attacks. But I noticed that I literally couldn't tilt attack because I had to keep my movement going.
So, I have my jump set on the right shoulder, but it’s easier for me to consistently get short hops when I use Y to jump. Curious if you have any advice for consistency
It’s all preference really, I know people who use right or left. As for short hops I also find it easier with the face button but it’s all practice really
I’m having so much trouble doing Luigi’s 0 to death after I do the short hop into down nair I have to fast fall and do a nair and I can never get that fast fall nair
I’m not sure if it’s just a me thing, but I tried using tilt stick and it just feels unresponsive to me, like sometimes it just won’t activate a tilt attack, most often when I’m running. With smash stick, if I press the stick while running it’ll do a dash but with tilt it’ll just do nothing. Is there something I need to change for this to work properly or is there just something I’m missing?
I'm late to the Ultimate game (literally just bought it). I have played Smash 64 and no others until now so the control scheme of Ultimate is VERY backwards to me... I know, I'm an old-schooler. Do you recommend a certain Pro controller layout that would feel natural for me (on an N64 controller: using the yellow c buttons to jump, higher button (B) = specials, lower button (A) for attacks) or should I just get used to the new controller scheme?
set attack to b, special to y, jump to x and a, grab to r, and shield to zl the right stick has no equivalent on a smash 64 controller, you can get used to it once you're comfortable with the rest
I keep finding myself overlapping controls on the pro controller? even though tilts are set to the right stick i can still input them by pressing left stick and a. is this supposed to happen? it keeps causing me to misinput tilts instead of smashes
Do you have any recommendations for how to further optimize controls? Leave your response here!
