Aren’t the tread runs supposed to have a 1 to 2% slope or 1/8 of an inch per foot or something like that so that water does not sit and flows away from deck(about to build my first replacement set of steps, but unfortunately, my local Lowe’s has the worst lumber. I miss the days when every city had at least two or three lumberyards…😢
We are planning to make a deck just like that one, that’s exactly what we need how much do you think it will cost, including materials and installation???
Helpful video but the installers in the video are using decking screws instead of structural screws for some connector attachments which I believe is a violation of most building codes.
Screwing frame together with screws is against code. The have NO tensile strength..! If you question that just do your own test by driving a 3" screw into the 1-1/2" side of a 2x4. The screw will have 1-1/2" exposure on the other side. Now, just break it off with your hammer. Then do the same test with a 3" nail and you'll notice it just bend. At least it looks like you used joist hanger nails on the hangers.
"the posts and footers should align with the outside of the stairs" THAT IS NOT WHAT THE VIDEO SHOWS. This is very expensive decking; notice all the wood you will still need to buy and worry about 'rot'. This is especially true and expensive when you make the steps, and any posts and hand rails. Also, Trex brand fasters are 50cents eat, compared to 5cents or 10 cents for exterior screws, that can be moved and removed and. Fasterners alone for a small deck 10x20 is $150. just for the fasteners. You would think for a product made from recycled plastic and sawdust they would be giving this stuff away, after all, America can't give away plastic.
You're suppose to have boards running perpendicular on the edges to frame your primary boards and hide cut ends. It takes a bit more work, but you can do this on the stairs too. They were lazy in this video.
Wow. This looks so unprofessional. Just look at timestamp 4:17. So many cut edges are visible. No gaps where there should be gaps. Edges not lining up flush. It looks like this person had no idea what they were doing.

Always cap the cut piece on the face so the cut piece is on the side .Cover stringers with risers.
thanks for your opinion, beside i appreciate you shed and coop related things building programs

For a 12x14 deck just like this and a 12x14 patio we paid 32000. So maybe a little more than half
Juli Monsalve mad dough
I pay $5.000 only the matirial, and me and my husband build size 14 x 30 feets
A trex deck is roughly double or triple the cost of a wood deck with labor for staining.
do i need to install a wood toe kick under the composite?
Yes you have pay for that too, and good luck if the steps aren't the proper size for Trex boards, wich are 1x5.5. Not something you can easily cut.
What software is that
How tall should the 4x4 posts be? Also, do you have to do the wood behind the facia board?
they will only be as tall as the exact product. So, you still have to buy a 4x4 to hide inside the $30 post covers each.
they covered the stair stringers but not the rim joist they said they would cover later (maybe i heard things wrong)
does lowes deliver international?
Lowe''s ships to all US addresses but unfortunately doesn't support international orders.
This is for amateurs not beginners
Isn’t that the same thing?😂

Cut ends are ugly
I agree, very ugly and two years later composite manufacturers don't seem to be addressing this problem of finishing off these ugly cut ends.
@@walksoftlyleon79 my sister had composite installed and it lasted for about a week before she had it removed for ceder.

Picture frame to eliminate cut ends.
It's how it was designed, nothing wrong with the cuts.

lol build wood deck and then put some composite over it and call it composite stairs
