I love the cheery music, the no-sweat-slight-grins of the workers, the easy-peasy no-more-than-10-minute steps each phase involved is broken up with...but any realistic situation involving a layman will consist of a week's worth of time (minimum) and plenty of unexpected costs from the homeowner screwing up pieces of wood or breaking their cheap tools, and this is all assuming you glide by any king-shit towny inspector not giving you grief over codes. Adding to this, if you're lucky enough to find a contractor that is at least diligent enough to come by your home to give you an honest quote on the day and time they tell you they'll swing by to give you said quote, you can easily expect it to run well into the thousands. Rightfully so given everything you see in this video, from supplies to experience, not to mention lack of line markings in the ground prior to the dig of the concrete pad (which may or may not have required rebar).
This dudes owe like $30,000 in OSHA fines. No utilities markers, no hard hats, no ear plugs, no safety vest, no work gloves, no safety harness, no cones or caution yellow tape, no flagger, no lunch break or cigarette breaks, no on site psychologists, no random assholes standing around doing nothing, no foremen, etc.
Dear Lowe's: What is the item number of the brackets shown at 4:17 thru 4:21 on the counter for the above video? I'm trying to buy them at my local Lowe's store or online. Thanks!
If you look at the video carefully there is a piece of wood extending up behind the upper board. That's what they are drilling into to connect both boards. It happens so fast you can hardly see it.

Wolf_22 you must be fun at parties
DA BESTA!
It seems that this experience is consistent the world over! Maybe not the codes stuff though since decks have less structural use in England.
you forgot the part where i smash my thumb with a hammer and throw my steel toe boot at the garden shed.
Perfecto, muchas gracias y manos a la obra.
Great Video. I might try it myself soon!
Great detailed video!
Thanks Vince! Now, what do you say? Are you gonna build one of your own? :)

LMAO
min 1:35 what the measure of the back (2 by toe kicks?)
What happens if where the landing pad needs to be is not level. Mine is sitting 7 inches lower than my rise total height

I am STILL looking for these particular tension ties. It would seem the entire internet has been scrubbed of both pictures and info on this model...
I think its just a concealed joist hanger turned on its side
Simpson Deck Tension Tie DTT2Z
Awesome shed building plans, next time use it
I can not find the strings strap at lowes
How did the toe kicks magically end up behind the risers when they were installed after?
The video shows the toe kicks going in first.
@Mr. Meeseeks chill out cowboy
I need to get the book on how to build a deck, or hire someone to do it for me. That seems to be a little complicated for me.
Sidney Mathious where are you located
Lowe's got me with the click bait ...
What was the hanger used to attach the stringers to the deck?
Just look up simpson stair bracket and you ahould find it
Looks great if money is no object.
little wire mesh would go a long way in that concrete
nice
Thanks
How in the world those workers did stay so clean?
There related to Ron Hazelton
3:44 are those three screws being driven into thin air? The board was not in line with the screws.

3:46 Accurate Drilling
if you look close enough you can see the screw is pushing back the board that he hit. hard to see.
where is the iron?
Really should just use either 4x4 or 6x6 post to attach the stringers and let the weight go to the post and not on the deck it self.
If lower had ppl who do this kind of projects on residential houses ?
These things are so beautiful
Too bad the all wood example of a hand rail doesn't meet most areas building code
