In retrospect, I was probably a bit too harsh on the Wacom One. I just got the Wacom Felt Tips, and I was bummed to find that they don't work in the S-Pen (the pen writes even though it is not touching the screen), but they do work in the Wacom One and make that pen significantly better. The button has worn in with time and doesn't bother me nearly as much. It is still my least favorite in the bunch, but it is not nearly as far behind as I hinted in the video.
I bought the Wacom One when this video was initially released. Even though Brandon felt it was his least favorite of the options, I've always enjoyed using the Wacom product line. I still use the stylus and ordered a second one today as a 'backup'. I don't think Wacom makes this anymore, but Amazon still has some in stock and the price is now less than $30. More to the point, this video is more than two years old. Brandon..... if you see this, it's time for an update to the "Perfect Stylus"! :)
I just got the Wacom felt tips in today, but they don’t work in the S Pen. I’m going to be in NYC in a few weeks and I’m going to stop by the Lamy Store there and give it a try. If the shape fits me I’ll pick it up. I wonder if anyone has figured out a way to magnet it or loop it.
I've ordered the Boox Note Air 2, my first eInk tablet, and it's very reassuring to see videos by fellow lefties! With real pens, I tend to have a death grip and press very hard. I prefer pens that are very fluid and glide. Do you have any recommendations for me? (it needs to have an eraser, preferably as a button not an endcap)
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only Lefty death gripper ;). The thing I have learned about stylus is that the nib is going to make the biggest difference in the glide. If you want a pen with an eraser button I would recommend either the S-Pen or the Lamy. The S-Pen is very thin, which I find very comfortable as someone who also uses a death grip. I would recommend the Lamy if you don't like thin bodied pens. Once you get a stylus and use it for a few days then you can decide if you like the default nibs.
hello! I bought the Wacom one after watching that video, thank you so much I love it! That said I'm not able to set up the side button as an eraser on the Remarkable 2, do you have a suggestion on how to do it?
I find that in that upside down orientation (also a lefty), the boox pen sticks to the side better if you align the magnets a little lower. it ain't centered anymore but sticks well. Or I stick it to the upper right area of the screen. that's also the sensor for the magnetic cover. So the pen can somehow "dock" there when i'm done writing, and the screen turns off. if I want to start writing again, i just take the pen and the screen turns on. saves the power button wear and tear.
I figured out the S pen eraser, thanks for your reply earlier. Can you tell me how you got your note page to be blank without the bar on the top or on the left? I just got the air 2 plus and I really like it but it feels hard to figure out how to use it. Are there any other resources you recommend to learn about its features and how to customize it? I will mainly be using it for writing notes, maybe reading magazines that I subscribe to, and maybe ‘to do lists’. Thank you!
There is a button that looks like two arrows facing away from each other that takes you into full screen mode. The first few days with the Boox are a bit challenging, as not all the UX is intuitive. I learned a lot from My Deep Guide's "The Big Boox Guide". Here's the link ruclips.net/video/E9uXtd8Ne70/видео.html
Great video, just what I was looking for. I'm here because I have the following issues with the pen that came with boox air 2 plus: 1. Too long 2. Not magnetic enough. Could fall off when you are on the move. 3. The cap is by far the worst even free pens have better caps. Surprisingly, only #2 was on the video. Makes me wonder if I am too picky 🤔
I don’t know that you’re too picky, but I don’t think there is a good pen that checks all of those boxes. If you need a cap then take a look at the Lamy, but note that it doesn’t have a magnet ;(
@BrandonKboswell what replacement nibs do you use? I liked the ones that come with the Boox pen (with eraser) as they have good grip and pencil feel. I tried some others from amazon and were simply too smooth. Looking for good nibs that don't cost the earth! Thanks!

Hey Brandon! I've just discovered your channel and watched this review and your Supernote review. I'm somewhat surprised that you prefer the writing feel on the Boox. Other reviews I've watched and read describe the writing feel on the Boox as very slippery (with its original pen), and resembles the feel of the Apple Pencil on an iPad (which you dislike). Onyx devices are very versatile and some even come with Google play. Those reviews about the slippery feel are the main reason I don't buy one of them. Did you also find the writing with the original Boox pen similar to the Apple pencil on a bare iPad? I'm really interested in your opinion. I currently have an iPad with an AP and I hate the writing feel, even with several paper-like screen protectors applied (including the original PaperLike 2). Does the s-pen make that much of a difference? TIA
Writing on a Boox device is nothing like writing on an iPad. I also hate writing on the iPad and have no issues writing on the Boox devices. Do note that the original Boox Note Air and the New Tab Ultra don't have the screen protectors that make the screen feel more like paper, so if that's important to you, then go with a Note Air 2 Plus. With or without the screen protector this is a significantly better writing experience than the iPad.

Thanks for the video Brandon. QQ, original Boox pen is passive. I see that Samsung pen has batteries, do you need to keep it charged to be used with Boox?
The battery and Bluetooth functions of any S Pen is just got the smart features on Samsung tablets such as the play, pause, increase/decrease volume etc. The battery and Bluetooth features have no effect on whether these pens will work with any tablets with EMR technology such as Boox devices.
It's supposed to have a graphite blend to the tip to make it really pencil like for writing. And there's supposed to be an eraser on the back end that really feels like a real eraser as well.
For the best experience on the Supernote, I recommend using one of Supernote's ceramic nib stylus. If you are set on using the S-Pen it would probably be with a very hard tip like the Lamy POM.

Hm, personally, while I agree with you about the writing feel of the s pen (I've tried 3 different ones and they're all nice but slightly different thicknesses), I actually found the side button infuriating. The button is great for convenience; it was always in the way and got activated constantly. The one I use is the s4 and I ended up finding a sleeve for it on Amazon which recessed the button a little. Can't use the magnet unfortunately, but the writing experience was greatly improved so I'm ok with giving that up.
An update on this: my husband has a newer model s pen, and it seems there is a sleeve for that one too, slightly different design from mine but similar thickness. The magnet feature does work with that sleeve, in case that's important to someone.
Notes are searchable on the device, but be aware that the initial indexing takes a long time (10+ minutes) and each search after that takes about 1-2 minutes. Apologies for this question as I have never had one, but how do you charge the Samsung S Pen Stylus? And which is better, Samsung S Pen Stylus or Lamy EMR?
None of the pens mentioned here require charging. (Amazon's spec sheet for the S Pen is incorrect). Which to choose between the S Pen and the Lamy is going to come down to personal preference. The S Pen is a much thinner pen (about the thickness of a #2 pencil) and the Lamy is a bit chunkier of a pen. The Lamy has the bonus of having a cap, but doesn't clip the side of the device like the S Pen. Having used both for a few months now, I think the biggest factor is preferred pen thickness.

The Lamy has the bonus of having a cap, but doesn't clip the side of the device like the S Pen. Having used both for a few months now, I think the biggest factor is preferred pen thickness.
@@BrandonKBoswell thank you so much!
@@BrandonKBoswell Hi thanks for the video - trying to figure out how to use the eraser button on the boox air 2 plus... can you help? i can't find instructions anywhere. thanks!
@@bretaboots4871 If you are referring to the standard pen that comes with the Boox then unfortunately it doesn't have an eraser button. You would need to switch to the eraser tool on screen when you want to erase. If you are referring to the Boox Pen Plus, then all you should have to do is hold the button down while writing on the screen to erase.
@@BrandonKBoswell so sorry I meant to say the S pen that you recommended with the air 2 plus. I didn’t see how the eraser button works in your video. Thank you!
Your hand position is the problem. Fix it first.
