Hey Jay Beagle was really, really good for the caps in that run, and I would argue him being healthy finally for a full playoff run was a huge part of us finally winning the damn thing
Hey just because Jay Beagle was overpaid by Benning doesn’t mean he wasn’t any good in DC. Perfect 4th line center who worked his ass off and was a great leader in the locker room. He was awesome in DC.
that's the problem he was overpaid. As folks in the media said. Canucks needed a player like Beagle but not necessarily Beagle. It looks even worse when Benning paid 3 Million 4 years for Beagle but wasn't willing to pay 4.25 Million for 4 years for Toffoli.
Anything can go wrong when drafting teenagers but that doesn't even come close to the brutal Benning pro scouting moves. Drafting was up and down but he overpaid almost everyone. Demko was probably the only competent contract he signed. In 7.5 years. That is the only one.
