    The glock is an easy gun to shoot. And it's probably the most practical and effective choice. But I have field tested and occasionally abused a 92FS since 1998 and I still trust it with my life. It is still as reliable as the day I bought it. One failure to feed and one stovepipe in 22 years. I'm not as good as I once was, but the gun still is.

    Just got my first handgun and she's a GEN 5 GLOCK 34 with the Front serrations. I just put the Holosun SCS and added an XS Orange Bigdot iron sight as backup. I discovered that with the bigdot, It acts as an optical ANCHOR and gets the SCS reticle on target stupid fast. In addition, if the reticle should ever fail, the square nature of the optic encloses the Bigdot and it works just as good anyways! Id say its like a analog red dot!! Try this combo out!

    • @michaeld8980
      @michaeld8980 Год назад +2

      That's pretty ignorant. Why does having gear say I don't train? I train regularly while simultaneously giving myself every possible advantage. In a real situation, regardless of training, adrenaline will surge. It's possible that a primary site could fail. Why not have a backup and train with it? If it seems like a handicap so be it. At the end of the day I'd rather be alive with the other guy cursing me and saying he cheated! as he goes down. If it's economically feasible there's nothing wrong with embracing Tech. Ego driven, Machismo hard-headedness doesn't win fights.

    Glock may not be the best for any specific occasion but it's above average overall for all types of situation in my opinion. Also I think that glock trigger should be kept stock unless you are purely using it for competition because you are tinkering with one of Glock's biggest selling points which is it's reliability. Of course, that's just my opinion and again, if it's for competition, trigger upgrade is probably needed.
    Also, I think people haven't really shot enough of one gun to really break-in the trigger to get a true feel of its full potential. Because after a thousand rounds or so, the trigger does get much better in pretty much all cases. But I guess it's not that easy, a lot of people don't shoot that much in just one gun especially when they have too many guns in their collection..lol. So they don't shoot enough of any one pistol to truly break-in the trigger.

At the time, I didn't know a lot about pistols (was more into archery) and did a ton of research beforehand. I ended up buying a glock 21 as my first handgun because of their reputation. No other pistol could go through those torture tests and still perform the way glock does (at their price point), not to mention that millions of LE and special ops around the world also rely on them. I've shot thousands of rounds through a S&W M&P and a Springfield XD with zero failures. Good ammo, loaded into a quality magazine will run through a good gun, end of story.
      People that act like a Glock has never failed are chuckle fucks. Reliability isn't the only reason why military and police are carrying the gun. It's super cheap, especially bought in volume.

      I agree it doesn’t matter how it looks, but feel is important. For people that grew up shooting like I did or possibly you it’s less so But to a first time gun buyer, or to someone that just wants a single handgun to defend themselves it is important to have a gun that is as comfortable to hold as possible while maintaining that reliability. I love glocks but that’s sure as hell not what I want to take to the range for plinking or to run drills because glocks torque the shit out of my wrist. And god forbid a less experienced shooter need to defend themselves but fails to do so because they struggle to index the firearm properly or fails to achieve a proper grip which pulls them off target. For some people getting in that range time and practicing is a lot easier to do with a Sig P365 or a Walther PPQ both guns I trust my life with 100% but may be a lot more comfortable to an individual.

On top of that he also chose a glock 17 which is entirely unpractical to Conceal for the vast majority of people. I don’t like it when guys make a statement like “glock is the only gun I trust with my life out of the box” especially to such a large audience. My PPQ is just as reliable out of the box, has a significantly better trigger, the sights are way better than glocks stock sights, holds the same number of rounds as a 19, and is way more comfortable (to me and a lot of other people) there is more to it than “they just work”

    Glock has a genius marketing plan, give or give huge discounts to law enforcement. But it ends there. I own a glock, I own an XDM and I own a sig. For context I am not a competitive shooter. I have on the other hand deployed to combat 5x. 3 times to Iraq and twice to afghanistan. The glock is reliable, this is true; however training for combat is difficult, you cant mimick the fear and adrenaline that comes with it, no matter what anyone says that is going to be the #1 factor. You cant train for it. But you can make it easier to manage with equipment and said equipment features. Glock is great for a concieled weapon, but have you ever noticed the tiny little stiff operation features? You can train and be smooth AF with them. But now lets add that fear, your hands shaking, the disorientation, out of breath, heart pumping in your ears, the loudness, the screaming and this is only a few things added. All your training with those smooth tranistions, and tiny little buttons just went out the window. Now look at an XDM. Your going to find those operational features no matter what, and it is just as reliable. And right now the military is using sigs. Because it beat all other competition, including glock. So ya, glocks are great out of the box (sometimes) but your not trusting your life out of the box. Now to sit back and watch the hate mail from glock die hards lol.

      The Hi-Power is great and many will agree with you on that choice. But don't play the age card.
      They're not as reliable and you have to like the safety features, the style of carrying + the magazine capacity is lower than more modern wonder 9s. They old Glocks and the Hi-Power have one thing in common...they might bite.
      I personally would go for a pistol highly influenced by the Hi-Power, but better choices on safety features, higher capacity...CZ 75B. I deem the shadows as too heavy for EDC. If the 75B is too heavy or too big...P-01, P-07 or approaching from the Block Isle...P-10C.

    Went to my local gun store with the intention of buying a Glock they had on sale. I’m sure if you have average size hands the Glock just is fine, but I have very large hands and the Glock just didn’t feel right. The salesman suggested I try the H&K VP9. I'm so glad he did.
    I saw a post in another thread that said, once you’ve held a VP9, anything else feels like a 2x4- completely agree. Comes with small, medium and large back straps and side panels. I put on the large ones as soon as I got home.
    I also own 2 M&P shields. A shield 9mm is my concealed carry weapon and a 380 EZ is my wife’s pistol. They are not shabby and are made well enough, but don’t compare to the HK quality. I paid a little more than other quality guns out there, but the VP9 is exceptionally well made. My CC instructor, who shoots Glock, commented my VP9 might be the best put together gun he’s ever seen.

    • @maddog726
      @maddog726 2 года назад

      If having a stovepipe is your issue, maybe try melting into the gun more. Get a more firm grip. I carried a 30SF for 3 years as a truck gun and fired 5000 rounds through it over that time period and never had a single malfunction. Now, some people might say only 5k rounds in 3 years?! Well, yes. It wasn't my primary weapon. It was a truck gun and on a few occasions a boat gun. And no, 5 rounds of that 5k most definitely wasn't shot off that boat at a coyote that was trying to eat our dinner at the shore.. I digress. 😂
      Glock is a fantastic handgun. There are other fantastic handguns out there. But for a guy that spends alot of money on firearms, glocks are my go to because they're not ridiculously priced, the amount of upgrades out there are ridiculous if you want them, and I have never had a problem firing a glock. They work, every single time.

      Same. Barrier to entry with USP is the price, but even though I've never had a problem with 1911s (other than a GSG but that's a .22LR and not a real 1911) I'd personally go USP before 1911 or Glock. When your day-to-day hits a point where you need a firearm for protection and self-defense, you're not going to care that a USP costs $300 more than a Glock.
