Sir, I’m twice your age, have been shooting handguns for over 30 years, doing some semi serious training in the last 20, as well as instruction. I regret to say that there was a time that I would have dismissed any knowledge/wisdom from someone so much younger than me. That said, as an instructor with a little military and LE time, as well as a former school teacher I admire your skill, dedication and methodology. I watch your vids. This is all common sense training. Which in my case isn't so common. Often times I find myself just shooting instead of working on the individual aspects of the complete process. This can be applied to anything in life. For instance, a person can learn to play a song on guitar. but he has to work on fingering, strumming, timing, tone, theory, etc. Individually before he can call himself a musician. This is a life lesson, not just a shooting video.
indeed, most of the times I go to my range and practice, which it starts out that way, but before too long I find my self just rapid firing a that evil paper / steel people. lol

I have the same training philosophy. Currently I am working on sight acquisition. I carry my firearm around the house, pick a random object as a target, and bring my sights into alignment.
Do the same but with a laser, and shoot from the hip. point at a switch plate or door knob, hit the laser and see how far off you are, rinse and repeat. In time you may not be hitting quarter groups, but you'll be banging steel easy peasy.
I've been doing this awhile, consider myself subconsciously proficient, and this young man teaches me something new, or reminds me of things I forgot consistently. Best pound for pound instructor out there for weapons mechanics and proficiency. Trex arms, big future ahead of you, keep it up, hats off to you.
I don’t understand how this gets ANY downvotes....it boggles the mind actually. Solid principle about how to break something down into pieces parts without getting into every gory detail of the major tasks that need to be accomplished. Not does it focus on all the minute subtasks that one would need to accomplish each major task. Great work!!

Great stuff. I am a teacher and I am impressed with the way you get your information across. From firsthand experience I have learned how important it is to give detailed instructions as simply as possible. You are doing that. I have learned something from everyone of your videos that I have watched. I can't stand when people hate on videos of shooters saying it is because of modified pistols, lighter loads etc. As always people knock on others to feel better about themselves. Love this video! Man your recoil control is on point. It's like the gun doesn't move lol. Just got my sidecar for the G19. So happy to actually find a rig that can conceal that gun with appendix carry. Love how the G26 also fits! Printing is minimal compared to others I've tried. Depends on my shirt of course but so far so good!
Please make another isolation training video. I completely agree that isolation is the key to building solid habits and sub-conscious mechanics. Your form is exquisite and definitely attributed to hours and hours of dry fire and live fire training. Cheers and thanks for sharing.

Great video on training and isolating fundamentals. So many people think you have to do the whole process over and over again because it's more realistic. While that works okay, it can be very inefficient. Isolate the little steps and work out any flaws/mistakes/weaknesses until each piece is mastered, then put it all back together.

This drill is awesome. So awesome I didn't realize I've done this hundreds of times In classes. We even did it with support hand inoperable, but it wasn't as cool as shooting in and around cars so I didn't remember this drill. Thanks man your videos are the best.

I love watching folks like this because every so often you notice that one thing and it become s game changer. In this case I was watching how he uses his support thumb over the rail as he preps his grip. Great trick to help ensure you get a solid high grip when running at 90-100%.

Great video. Speaking of isolation, if you're working on a new movement (or you're a new shooter), you shouldn't even be shooting live ammo until your movement is perfect in a dry fire environment. Isolating your reload & fire technique from the noise, concussion and recoil of the firearm is also a form of isolation. (Plus you'll save a lot of money on ammo)

I have no handgun experience, but I am looking into a career in law enforcement and want to build my knowledge base before taking my firearms courses and even without being at a range or with a firearm in front of me, you do a great job and explaining how and what your doing.

I practice isolation in my everyday peaceful job, but it was necessary you to told me for this importance in shooting practice and me to accept this gift after two years shooting practice! Lots of good points, for sure. I like that you emphasize practicing good habits and proper techniques rather than just going fast. It's very true that slow is smooth and smooth is fast. One point I would suggest, in regards to your particular pistol handling drills, if you're interested in training for self defense, you may want to avoid using the slide stop on an open action reload and instead opt for a full overhand grasp (fine motor vs gross motor). If bullets start flying back at you in a real life or death situation, your fine motor skills are going to go to shit really fast and manipulating that slide stop might become very, very hard. Using a gross motor movement like an overhand grasp on the slide and punching the pistol forward is much, much easier to do when your heart is pounding and you're pumped full of adrenaline. It's not as fast on the range, but if heaven forbid you end up in a gun fight, it might save your life.
I like that you use the slide release. A lot of people make extra work by racking the slide and it makes you slower and adds extra functions you should avoid in a gun fight.

Limited time to train is right. I'm active duty, soon to EAS but in the mean time I go to the range for qual once each FY and rarely, if ever, do I get other opportunities to shoot that are not some type of annual qualification. Utilizing the practice days was all I had. By applying the "utilize what/time you have" method I maintained (high) expert qualification and was subsequently selected to attend the Marine Corps shooting competition-West because of that. I found Lucas (and T.Rex Arms) just recently, March 2020. All of the above transpired prior to me finding these videos, so let me back up his words of wisdom with the fact that I applied these same ideas before I consciously knew what they were. No one told or taught me how to practice, they just taught me the basics of shooting and pretty much said OK now go qual, hopefully you don't unq. I will forever reference T.Rex Arms videos among my top training information.
Solid! I've used different wording with my students but the message is the same. Repition is the best form of learning. Since I can't get opportunities to fire live rounds as often as I like I practice all my drills in my basement and dry fire like a champ which guarantees me max points on my qual courses of fire when I have to do them.
Glad to see you drop the slide rather than racking the slide by hand. A lot of discrepancies in this area that i dont agree on. If you reload the firearm is made to drop the slide not just to rack the slide by hand wich means nano seconds of recovering more shots on target

Good philosophy for training- I like how you break it down. Fifty percent speed is an interesting way to build each element on a draw. Going try this method and see how it shakes out.

Using a gross motor movement like an overhand grasp on the slide and punching the pistol forward is much, much easier to do when your heart is pounding and you're pumped full of adrenaline. It's not as fast on the range, but if heaven forbid you end up in a gun fight, it might save your life.
I like that you use the slide release. A lot of people make extra work by racking the slide and it makes you slower and adds extra functions you should avoid in a gun fight.

Limited time to train is right. I'm active duty, soon to EAS but in the mean time I go to the range for qual once each FY and rarely, if ever, do I get other opportunities to shoot that are not some type of annual qualification. Utilizing the practice days was all I had. By applying the "utilize what/time you have" method I maintained (high) expert qualification and was subsequently selected to attend the Marine Corps shooting competition-West because of that. I found Lucas (and T.Rex Arms) just recently, March 2020. All of the above transpired prior to me finding these videos, so let me back up his words of wisdom with the fact that I applied these same ideas before I consciously knew what they were. No one told or taught me how to practice, they just taught me the basics of shooting and pretty much said OK now go qual, hopefully you don't unq. I will forever reference T.Rex Arms videos among my top training information.
Solid! I've used different wording with my students but the message is the same. Repition is the best form of learning. Since I can't get opportunities to fire live rounds as often as I like I practice all my drills in my basement and dry fire like a champ which guarantees me max points on my qual courses of fire when I have to do them.

Glad to see you drop the slide rather than racking the slide by hand. A lot of discrepancies in this area that i dont agree on. If you reload the firearm is made to drop the slide not just to rack the slide by hand wich means nano seconds of recovering more shots on target

Good philosophy for training- I like how you break it down. Fifty percent speed is an interesting way to build each element on a draw. Going try this method and see how it shakes out.
