Tnx a lot Robert...I want everything to keep moving...and I don't want to repeat myself...but I want you to see the steps...and of course above all I want a nice piece when it is all said and done. Tnx again.
Nice grind created nice teeth, you made a really nice wheel cutter as well, we are not clock, but watch movement guys, but we love the cutting tools you made in your video. 8:20 minutes/seconds in you say it all, I cannot live any-longer without by viewing tools I think I have as many of these glasses/spectacles, magnifiers and such as I do wrench sizes these days. My personal favorite task around here is fine surface finishing, just thought I would share that. Great video again Robertt4522.
Tnx lot...I've been known to mess around a bit with watches myself...I need magnification for most everything but setting up the camera and then staying out of the way of said camera...and still being able to see what I'm working on ...is always a problem...another age thing...I gotta start remembering to turn the camera on...tnx again.
Is it a John Harrison design? This is my third grasshopper escapement...first two were to learn by doing...this third one what I was working up to...I'm an old navigator...Harrison is my hero. I'll be following your build as well...bob
It is a truly interesting escapement...my first shot was this wooden clock:www.woodentimes.com/SEXTUS/Sextus.html The second was a bunch of parts I found on EBay...I only built 3 parts that were missing...but I did a bunch of clean up and polishing...when I get into the escapement maybe I'll share some of this...
Sorry man...my lathe is a 1984 Craftsman's lathe....this is before they became Sherline lathes...it may be an old lathe and I've used it almost daily ...it has been a great lathe...my CNC lathe is a newer Sherline and just as good.
@@robertt-cs8fe Ah ok thanks for clearing that up, I've been really enjoying watching videos on clock making, repairs and general machine lathe work that you talented craftspeople do with what seems with ease. It just impresses me to no end that people still are willing to put in the time and effort to make these things by hand again. Well done and a big bravo!
Sorry it took a bit for me to reply but I was a bit confused….I think the best I can do for you is to recommend a couple of books that can explain the more intricate aspects of clock making. If your interest is in the clock I am presently building it was designed by WR Smith and is explained fully in his book How to Build a Grasshpper Clock. If clock making in general is more your interest I really enjoyed Laurie Penman’s Clock Design & Construction. I hope this helps.
Hi, great video. I'm just in the process of making Wildings tower clock and have some videos on RUclips of each stage. I'll be following along. This was very helpful! Check out my vids. I'm desperate for band saw to rough cut my brass blanks.
Its such a pleasure to watch you approach a problem and how you go about resolving it. You are DRIVING me to get a surface grinder!!!
Great filming. Nice job
Excellent video, fast paced and interesting, good narration, and lovely work!

Thank you for another excellent video. It is a real pleasure to watch your clock unfolding.
Tnx a lot...I sure got some parts made...hope I can figure out how they all work together...Tnx again.
Wow, I'm impressed both by your work and even more about your patience. Very nice work and how you get to the finished part. Thumbs Up!
Thanks Gary...much appreciated...bob
Nice!

Good job Bpb, most interesting.
Tnx Craig...I think the next one on the fusee is kinda interesting too...Tnx again...
I'm in need of a lantern gear. Do you have a website that I could order one?
Just to add, the church clock/tower clock I'm building is also a grasshopper movement so I'm watching with great interest!

@@robertt-cs8fe third! Wow, I'm quite nervous as this is my first. The design is from John Wilding Tower Clock book.

Where did you get the tooth profile from for your tooth cutter
Being a total noobe to what you are doing (but enjoying watching it very much) you say Sherline but I see "Craftsman".. what is the Sherline? Cheers
