a few tips for beginners:
1. If you tape modded, you don't need to use foam because the tape stroke back the sound of the switches so no need to use foam under
2. Try to balance your stabilizers before lube because it will still rattle even with a lot amount of lube (if the balancing is too hard try to use the holee mod)
3. Your build influence the sound of the keyboard (for example plastic case give you a deep "thocky" sound and soft plate gives you deeper sound, hard plate gives you higher pitch sound)
4. DON'T TRY TO BUILD YOUR KEYBOARD LIKE WHAT YOU SEE ON RUclips. You'll be disapointed. Your keyboard, your style, your preference. That's the beauty of this "keyboard addiction" don't try to mimic others

well, using foam alongside the tempest mod will change the sound, so saying u dont need to use foam after putting tape on the pcb is a little misleading. using a thin foam in the case(u should probably only use one sheet, putting too much of even thin foams will give u clackies, unless u dont do the tempest mod, then two) will make it sound deeper and THOCC-ier. adding a bunch of thick foam will give u the clackies. those things still apply even if u do the tempest mod.
the tempest mod does lower the sound signature, so u will need less foam if u want thoccs, so in that sense ur right. i suppose many other factors apply, like the case material, how many layers of tape u apply... some ppls only put 1 layer of tape, which makes having a thin layer of foam still worth it, while if u put the max of 3 layers of tape(more than this is pointless, the difference in sound is indistinguishable) then u may not need any foam at all, unless u have a full aluminum case, in which case it MIGHT still make a difference.
foam is prolly the most effective form of modding u can do for changing the pitch of the keeb, and the reverb etc. its ALWAYS worth messing around with different foam types, thin finely woven foams for the THOCC, and thick porous foams for the clackies. u can even combine them, tho u will end up more on the clacky side..
foam is also for filling empty space so that the sound doesn't echo around as much

It even influenced Razwr to start making decent keyboards.
Personally I own the Scope II and have modded it a bit.

2 quick things you can do rn as well:
1) flip the space bar around
2) take keyboard off of your mouse pad
Personally I prefer having the spacebar flipped because it feels better to rest my thumb on it, but I don't think it affects the sound at all.

Arguable, I feel like a combination of everything is important, you could have amazing switches but if everything else is cheap it won’t sound good… on the other hand you could just lube cherry reds or smthg in a nice keyboard with good mods and it will sound pretty good

Here are some more tips:
- Don't lube your switches unless they are clickies.
- When you tape mod, apply more than 5 layers. The more layer the better sound. Sticky ones are recommended so it will not wear off.
- Do not do force break mod because it will add pingy noises especially on aluminum boards.
- Choose north facing boards because they are perfect especially for Cherry profile keycaps.
- Do not connect the port on your PCB. It will make your PCB explode.
- Dig a hole on your battery if your keyboard is wireless. This will make longer battery life.
- Break your PCB into two parts. This will turn your keyboard into Alice layout and your keyboard will be guaranteed to have better sound and ergonomic.
- Use aluminium boards if you carry it a lot. Full size boards are recommended.
- Use aluminium plate and tray mounted boards if you want flex.
- Use clicky switches to assert dominance.
Extra tip: Use tungsten keycaps. They are pretty good for both typing and gaming, as you are less likely to miss-click with them

DO NOT USE DUCT TAPE.
only use painters tape or masking tape, duct tape will ruin ur pcb. that blue tape made of paper that never sticks to things that well ? use that. ignore every other tape.

Depends on the switch, also you can lube them. It makes a more positive difference. So switching out the switches, is not a good tip for beginners. More of a way to waste more money lol
