I'm sorry you had that experience. Sometimes I feel that most salons are just there to intentionally ruin people's hair. When I was 17 years old I went to get box braids and the woman made my braids VERY tight at the front. I was in pain and pimples started to show up in that area, but luckily I've done my research in haircare since I was 14, I knew that was a sign that my edges were about to come out. So I immediately removed the tight braids and my mom fixed them. Thanks to that I didn't loose hair and since I then I couldn't trust anyone other than my mom and myself. Im 21 now and my edges are still full and healthy
Hi Sunshine
Thank-you for your comment!
So sad to hear about your experience getting braids. I remember getting those pimples all over my hairline as well 😭
I'm so glad that you immediately removed them!
Also so happy to hear that you edges are luscious and healthy now
Tips start at 6:00
Sis you just saved me 6m, thank you!!
Lol. God bless you
Thank you 😊
Thank you
Thankyou
I honestly think your god sent, I’ve been natural since my freshman year of high school (4years) and I’ve gotten to a decent length. But it was a struggle, so many set back so many night crying because I had so much breakage, even bald spots. I have truly found someone who has hair who acts similar to mine, your simple techniques and mind set about your hair really has helped me heal, my hair and my mindset. You never really hear about the mental health side of being in a natural, thank you. You have made a loyal fan out of me🥰🥰🥰🥰
Aww this is such a lovely comment 😭
So sad to hear about the struggles that you have had! I can relate to them so much
You know, I really was unsure about that video, but I'm so glad that I made it! I have a similar one coming in a couple of weeks
Thank-you so much for being here
If you experience unexplained general thinning that isn't from tension, postpartum, relaxer burns, etc. the best thing to do is to see your doctor to be sure your problem isn't medical. So many of us try to fix thinning ourselves without knowing what is causing it. Many times it is iron deficiency, CCCA, or some other form of alopecia or immune issue that needs medical attention.
Thank-you for your comment!
This is so true, and it really good advice!
Definitely great advice, seeing a dermatologist when you first notice the problem is important. I am doing that now
Thank you for all of your content. It is very helpful. I’d love to see a ‘week in my hair’ video from you. I’m curious to know how you maintain your hair throughout the week.
Thank-you for your comment!
I can definitely film one of those! I will add it to my list
I’m finally seeing retention in my temples. They’re naturally thinner and break easily. It’s genetics, but I’ve been determined the last year to grow them and they finally reached my eyebrows! I’m so happy 😭
Can I ask how you managed to grow it?
This video came in the best possible time!! I've thankfully had the luxury of being natural my entire life due to my mom basically forcing me to stay chemical free lol and my hair's texture is very similar to yours. As I got older and did my hair myself in my teens, I wore very tight puffs almost daily for a really long time before taking care of my hair and reaching tailbone length now. However, despite reaching here, due to those ill puff styles my temples have always thinned out drastically and would fill out sometimes then randomly thin again
Hi Shenice
Oh wow, so glad to hear that your mum forced you to be chemical-free lol
I hope some of the tips in this video help!
Oh she thick!!! Your hair has gotten a lot thicker! I love it❤️👏🏽👏🏽
Yes! Thank you, Pedrita! I hope you are well
I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience 🥀
Your hair is beautiful now and you teach humbleness and gracefully 🦋
Blessings 🙏🏽
Thank you so much 🤗
We got back to back videos 🎉💃🏿 ! I Love love your content 💕
Thank-you so much!
My worddddd....I've never connected a bad mood to having a tender head or tight hairstyle wow!!...
Hi Michelle!
I know, right!
One day I realised this and it changed everything!
Love your hair its like a beautifull plant looks so healthy:)
Aww thank-you so much
Thank you for the video, your hair is gorgeous
I had my last relaxer in 2020 due bad hair salon experience , I’ve been natural ever since, I’ve been enjoying it and my hair improved in length and volume but my edges just won’t fill up nicely and this makes the hair not look it’s best.
I’ve been doing the ‘no tension’ technique but it’s still the same
I’m really getting tired 😓
I love your content. Thanks for helping us taking care of our hair.
No problem
I’ve started my natural journey about three years ago and one big reason was because I didn’t have any edges due to always having braids and relaxing. Since the journey, I do the same three rules you do but I wanted to know: can I use to an extract or maybe an essential oil of rosemary and peppermint to grow my edges back. I heard that Romany and peppermint is good for that. You can massage it on your temples and it will grow back. Is that true and do you think it will work?
Rosemary and peppermint hair oil works when you massage into scalp and comb through the roots of your hair, temples edges and nape daily.
Hi My dear
Your hair is gorgeous and so are you!
I love your bubbly, engaging delivery'..
Hi Lorraine!
Thank-you for your super awesome comment! It's so lovely! 😭
I can't take tension on my head either, I have had trouble with tension headaches.
I too started my healthy relaxed hair journey with ULuvMegz here on RUclips and KISS. Now I'm 7 years natural in March and I'm so happy I did the big chop. My hair loves low manipulation. The longest I've gotten was a little past bra strap, my goal is Waistlength and beyond. Thanks for sharing your journey, I'm loving your content thus far.
Thank-you for sharing, and for your lovely comment
Hi, please how many years now have you been taking care of your hair yourself.
Hi Fati
I haven't been to a salon since I was 16! So over 10 years now
Horrible hair salon story-precisely why I’ll never go to a stylist again. I know my hair so much better than a stranger. Thank you 😊
Exactly! I feel the same! I haven't walked into a salon since. I have had several people offer to do my hair and I always refuse lol. Funny enough, I have styled and cared for a lot of other peoples' hair though haha
King of going through the same thing. Except I been wearing my hair down every day or almost every day and my edges are looking iffy. Went to a dermatologist and they told me the follicles are there but idk why hair isn’t growing 🤨 got some vitamins to see if that helps and some lady on RUclips said to try clove water
I got box braids, but they started to come out towards the front in like the 2nd week and ripped out my edges/front hair. It really annoyed me, because I told my mom about it and she told me that happens when you get breads and “we just won’t get them right next time.”
You’re just lovely.😍 Do you add any products or moisturizer to your hair each night before you braid your hair back up?
Thank-you so much, Dani!
I add water and my hair butter mix to the ends of my hair at night
I’ve never seen hair in my temples before I’ve seen thin to no hair since I was kid💀💀
It might be your natural hair line
Simple is best
Agreed
Please Can you take supplement
Thanks for your comment!
I don't take them at the moment, but I am actually considering them
Suspect my problem could be pcos related:(
