  • Small tram locomotives were seen in various parts of the UK on some light railways. Designed to work on standard gauge track but with close proximity to roads resulted in the need to enclose all the working parts in the name of safety, resulting in a very interesting look and style.
Join me in this video as I show you how I made the most of this Budget Model Railways 3D printed tramway locomotive using some simple and cost effective techniques!
Massive thanks to BMR for sending this to me free of charge for the purpose of build & review. I have not been paid however and all opinions remain my own.

@@ModelMinutes I am wondering if they cld come up with some thing like the Rosebud/ Kitmaster/ Dapol non motorized kits. As the Kitmaster sterling single is beautiful but too old for its age to run on tracks smoothly...

@@NixTrains You mean with wheels that rotate? I think they looked at it but it was deemed too complicated for the printer they have, and would not give you a smooth rolling product

@@ModelMinutes yes wld have been nice if 3D wld allow this. (Wasn't aware of the difficulty untill u pointed this out). Then maybe other than the wheels- wld be nice to build a BMR sterling loco shell & chassis...

Very striking colour scheme, classy. All in all a nice model. I'm a fan of Budget Model Railways and it's nice to see an alternative view of their models.

I got one of these about a year ago, really simple model to put together but like you said, takes ages for polycement to bond with it... I ended up putting a load of filler in the gaps & trimming off some bits, added some others. Tried to make it look like a LNER Y6.
Their kits are really good for the price, I've recently got some oo9 rolling stock which I've got no real complaints with, the gaps are less noticeable/ non-existent with their oo9 (& I presume N gauge) stuff.
Really do recommend their stuff, excited to see where they go in the future; they are cornering a section of the model railway market that isn't catered for, people who want to do it on a budget & not spend £100 a pop on a new loco...

I do get some occasionally from various manufacturers for the purpose of review. I did have to send these ones back to BMR when they are done though so that they can use/display them however they want.
If you develop your channel a bit more i'm sure some companies might be willing to send you some review samples. I don't make a habit of asking for free stuff, more often than not the companies approach me (which I think is the right way to go)

It looks as though more work was needed on the parts to get a better fit, especially the roof. For the money, probably not bad.

    • @ModelMinutes

    That's not a tram.
A tram is a vehicle designed to carry passengers ie, horse, steam, electric or even internal combustion.
The model is a tram locomotive
