I've seen most of Voiceplay's stuff, but if you want me to take another look at some of their work and give my insights, let me know which! I might not have seen it yet...
Geoff spent years getting this arrangement the way he wanted it. Between his arrangement and the singers he has in Rachel and Emoni as guests were perfect and Cesar did his part beautifully. Layne and Eli (EL-EE) are such solid foundations and Geoff was ..... Geoff.
I feel like Layne isn't getting enough credit for what he did here, probably because it's so easy to lose it in the amazing harmonies, but whatever he did at 6:05 is one of the craziest things I've heard in my life.
I absolutely love the things he does in their "Disney-Aca" (the shift from "Just can't wait to be king" into "Arabian Nights" is so amazing!), in "What's this" (the crazy 'running' sounds he makes - I can't even explain what they are, but I love them!) and in their "Top 10 Disney Villains" - I mean, how the heck does he not pass out during this. Layne is a beatboxing beast!
This is some of the best work Layne has ever done, it's absolutely amazing. Multiple pattern-fill-pattern shifts with massive tempo changes, and fill-drop-fills with 10 second breaks and never loses the beat, AND jumps right into crazy effects right in the middle of a pattern when called for. The amount of absolute trust that this arrangement puts in each of their skills is crazy.
Don’t you just love the way Geoff drops all those bass bombs all through and then goes MOAB on you that last note-and doesn’t hold??? What a tease! But as much as I ALWAYS love his part in their songs, JEEZ, every single one of these guys just killed it. How do they keep getting better? I keep thinking they’ve hit their peak, and they keep climbing! (PS. It IS EL ee, short for Eliezer.). Great reaction!
Apparently Rachel is reprising her role from the stage perforer stunning video. You mention the lighting here. The other one with amazng lighting is Hoist The Colours which you no doubt know. Another stunner. And yes Eli is promounced elly, short for Eliezer (Jacobson).
Just randomly paused at 9:49 and GODDAMN Layne looks so tall🤣🤣 I mean I know he is a tall guy and it probably doesn't help that he is right next to Eli plus a step further forward but holy sh*t🤣 even geoff looks small
C#1 is also the lowest note, Elliott Robinson drops in his cover of Shape of You. But not in subharmonics. He does it in full chest. And he is not even the lowest. What makes Geoff actually stand out, is the warmth if his tone and the way he employs his gift.
that was the correct reaction to their version of defying gravity. but seriously all of these singers genuinely just make all of this look very easy and none of this is easy at all. i cant even sing, but even if i could id still know its fucking difficult.

Actually Emoni was in a group called 10 that came in second place that season. Some chick named Honey was with VoicePlay. Personally I think she caused them to get cut too early. Seems like she only cared about her own ambitions instead of a group project. I wish Emoni had been in Voice Play for the Sing Off. VOICEPLAY probably would have finished higher. Emoni has a beautiful voice.
One you may enjoy - it's live - from their competing on the Sing Off. It's the 9 mil version of Road Trip from 7 years ago. Geoff, Earl, Eli, Layne and Tony who used to be the baritone.

Another reactor (Mortius ) recently did a true blind analysis- covered his monitor while letting us view - so he was not distracted by the visuals. And after all the many times he has watched/heard it he discovered new little nuances.
This was the first video of yours ive seen and youve earned a new sub man you had such a good and genuine reaction and i feel you on the frustration of not being able to his some of geoffs otherworldly notes
Geoff is always such a crazy good singer to me, I am a low baritone and while I may be able to hit down to C1 subharmonic without too much issue usually, I could never do a chest Bb1 like you did in this video. A super froggy C2 is the lowest I can go in chest and an F5, rarely a G5 is the highest I can get. C1-F5 is a nice range for a baritone but sometimes it sucks not being able to have that absolute tonal mastery in the lows or highs that a true tenor or bass can get.
Have you seen their Phantom of the Opera cover? Rachael Potter is a BEAST with her upper range. :) The video is one of their older pieces, so you may have to sift quite a ways through their channel to find it, if you haven't seen it yet. (Sorry, I'm not sure which pieces you have or have not seen, so based on your response to Rachael here, I figured I'd just mention it in case you hadn't seen it yet.) Also, for what it's worth - I love the fact that you pay attention to a lot more than just Geoff's bass lines. I'm as big a fan of his bass as anyone else, but I feel as though a lot of reactors get so focused on his bass sledgehammer taking out the floor that they often miss the rest of the awesomeness that is surrounding him, too. :) They are ALL so blasted good! LOL
