This is the band that launched the musical career of Sammy Hagar, the Red Rocker. Whether with Montrose, solo or most famously with Van Halen, he is a lot to take in, and easy to love in the music. He's about to turn 76, and still rockin' today!🤟

Yes, Montrose was the 70s ... MY era! Great choice and great reaction! You really need to check out Peter Frampton's "Do You Feel Like We Do" (also from the 70s), but only the full version from the "Frampton Comes Alive" album (audio). The keyboard and guitar solos are out of this world and will blow you away! Thanks for this reaction! ✌💙✌

This album was iconic in a way and when I listen to this now, it feels like an early form of punk rock as well in certain ways.
    💯 70s babee!
Yeah, bad as in bad-ass ...

Yes, it’s the 70s, and the singer is Sammy Hager, who later sang for Van Halen.

Montrose, wow. Ronnie Montrose is a great guitarist in his own right. Yes, he helped Sammy Hagar. But this is a band that is so overlooked in the mainstream. I don't know how you came across them, but kudos to you for diving deep into hard rock guitar influencers.

The Red Rocker is a secured legend at this point and this song is one of my favorite jams Sammy did. It's still on my favorites list and I could see Tina Turner jammin her bad self to it as well. He's still putting out good rock today!

Another overlooked guitarist from the seventies that is often overlooked is Tommy Bolin. I recommend Homeward Strut (instrumental), Savannah Woman, or People, People from his album, "Teaser" among his others.

The great Ronnie Montrose on lead guitar. You should try their song Space Station Number 5, or some early Sammy Hagar (the lead vocalist) after he went solo.

When I was in 6th grade we had to go to “phonics lab” in the library 3 days a week. 3 sets of headphone could plug into each machine (a cassette player). My buddies and I hated it and really didn;t need it. One guy in our 3 had an older brother who fed us cassettes to listen to. We spent most of the fall semester listeing to 3 albums: Bad Company-Bad Company, Rush-Rush, and Montrose-Montrose. Very loud too! Talk about 3 great and enduring albums.
I loved Sammy Hagar on this album. Every song. But I really didn’t care for anything he did after that. I don’t know why, exactly, except to say I preferred David Lee Roth’s time with Van Halen. I got to see that lineup, with Foreigner opening and later that week The Cars opening for Black Sabbath. Hell yeah, the 70s were great!

This was a kick ass 70s band that didn't get enough promotion dollars from Warner Bros. (Record label) because they just signed The Doobies as their premier rock and roll band the year before. That's the great Sammy Hagar with the 'Poodle' hair on lead vocals, who eventually had a successful solo career before fronting Van Halen. Sammy's still rockin' today. Unfortunately, Ronnie Montrose(lead guitar) took his life a few years back. 😢

Half the fun of this song was Ronnie Montrose imitating going through the gears on his guitar. Without that, it's kind of mid.
