    Bob Rock, the producer behind Metallica's Black Album (among others), is the producer for this album. He has helped create some of the most sonically perfect albums ever. This is by far the best Motley Crue ever sounded. Anyone who can make Vince Neil sound like a good singer deserves a medal.

    Trivia tidbit: Janet Jackson credited this song as the musical inspiration for her song Black Cat because she loved the groove.

    • @robcressey7228
      @robcressey7228 2 месяца назад +3

      Janet was looking to rock and was, who can I get? Vernon from Living Color and Nuno from Extreme?! That'll work!

    • @dwaiting883
      @dwaiting883 2 месяца назад +1

      In fact, I remember watching a MTV News bit from during her Rythm Nation tour that showed Janet dancing on her tour bus to "Dr. Feelgood, " saying that was her pump up song or something like that. In addition, that second riff that was commented on as less likable is what her brother Michael told famed studio guitarist, Tim Pierce, to be inspired by for a middle section of a song Michael was writing called, "Black or White." So go put on "Black or White" and that middle heavy section, where in the video Michael is singing through fire, a guitar part comes in and it is very close to that riff to Dr. Feelgood. Those two Jacksons loved this song and it inspired them.

    True story: James Hetfield first heard the song with how strong the bass and drums are, found-out Bob Rock produced it, and immediately set-about getting him to produce their next album. That album was The Black Album and well over 31 million units sold later, Metallica were then well on their way to becoming THE BIGGEST Metal band of all-time. 🤘🏻🐻🤘🏻
    Now, do "Power To The Music," "Hooligan's Holiday" and "Misunderstood" from their incredible 1994 self-titled album with John Corabi instead of Vince Neil. 🤘🏻🐻🤘🏻

Too many singers learn to sing and try and sing to sound a certain "proper" way... we need more singers who have CHARACTER. I prefer to use character than gimmicky - there's so many things that can be done with the human voice, throw the rules out the window, do something different!

    Right around the time I first got into music, this track was big. I remember seeing the official vid many times and loving it. Because it tells a story, of “Dr. Feelgood” who’s a low-level dealer, then rises through the ranks. He amasses an empire of wealth but in the end it’s destroyed by the law that turned on him. It’s a story that’s been done in movies before, but the vid is still fire. And the song itself is just a good, hard rocker from a band that did lighter stuff other times.

      Great songwriting but if I had to guess why never bigger? His voice. Happens all the time, the best writers have the worst voices.

      @@robcressey7228 I LOVE his voice! To each his own, but I think it has so much character. But I know he is an acquired taste for many.

    Saw the Dr. Feelgood tour in 1990. Rose Garden, Portland Oregon. Billed as the loudest mother f**king tour on earth. No doubt about it. I went to see Tesla who opened for them, and they were awesome as usual. But I had a whole new appreciation for Crue. Had an absolute blast.

    The correct way to listen to Dr. Feelgood is with the intro track T'NT (Terror 'N Tinseltown)

    Okay I am putting this out there - even though they were one of the biggest bands *ever* I believe that Motley Crue limited Mick Mars - one of the greatest guitar players ever. The story behind how he created his trademark sound is legendary. Add Tommy Lee to that mountain of talent and even with the cringe vocals they were musically a great group.

    This song here is my favorite song by this band. Yes we partied to this A LOT Their whole Motly Crue album is fire, but check out Home Sweet home. It has an awesome guitar solo.

    I didn’t even listen to this one. I just wanted to comment cause I saw it was a new video of rock or metal. You guys reacted to and it’s so weird seeing someone finally react to this song or a video or song from this era and caliber, even though it may not be that great it was big back then, and one of my favorites as a kid, but seems like everyone has heard this song and you guys would’ve done this along time ago 😂😂 but I know you guys are opening up Pandora’s box, and getting into whatever songs you can, and haven’t been rock or metalhead for very long

    Great stuff! I actually saw this tour in 1990 in New Haven when Tommy Lee fell off the drum set from above and they had to cancel the rest of the show. Thankfully I got to see them several times after that. Maybe do some older Crue like Looks That Kill or Home Sweet Home.
