We've all seen (except you maybe) the video to Frank Zappa's 'City Of Tiny Lights' (1979ish), so this here really isn't anything new or special. ruclips.net/video/EiAWn1zHcJA/видео.html But it is nice and I like it very much.
It's a tiny little touch but the clay figure of Robin holding a rabbit but then looking down after they're all old again and realising it's disappeared really gets me. Beautiful bittersweet video to go with a beautiful bittersweet song.
I went back and looked for this moment after reading your comment and wow - the whole weight of the video just hit me. The passing of time, how it seems it was gone in a flash when it's over. Especially as a parent, that bunny moment gets me (the little vulnerable one you are taking care of will someday move on and it will seem like a surprise) Thanks for pointing out that detail!
So when I saw this video on 2009, I was blown away by the creation of it. So skip ahead a month later Im at an art showing for a friend [in Seattle] and i start talking with this guy and I asked him what he did for a living to which he replied "Stop motion Animation" I said" No way that's awesome. I recently saw this video by Fleet Foxes." where I then went on to describe what I loved about it and how it was amazing. and he said "Thanks, I made it." which blew my mind and the conversation went even deeper. He showed me the sets and models [that were lost when some psycho set his work loft on fire.] but needless to say we have been really good friends ever since and we even worked on a few projects together.
Wow that’s amazing. See that’s why I like talking to strangers bc you never know who people are. More and more I realize that life is not only about what you know but also about WHO you know❤❤❤
It's such a thrill when someone starts talking about something you created and doesn't realize it's yours. That must have been a great moment for him too. Thanks for sharing this.
Enjoy your life right now! Whether it's in high school, college or through the process of buying a house, just enjoy it all because later in life you'll want to turn back time to those days! Simply, Enjoy _LIFE_
Because taste is subjective. The intro that PTX uses to layer in each singer is enough to make me prefer their version all on its own. Add in my enjoyment of their harmonies and individual voices, and it's a great song for my taste. I do like this version a lot, too.
Robin Pecknold said this song was about all of his best friends losing their innocence. In the beginning of the song, he is following his friends which are all children as described in the song. The red scarfs are their "loss of innocence" as red represents danger and violence. When he turns around, he sees that another one of his friends is lost as he falls in the snow staining it red with blood. This represents the "loss of innocence" as well because white represents purity and innocence and he has stained it red. *"From first grade to high school I spent every day with the same bunch of kids. And it was weird to see how people I had known so long would change so quickly - suddenly they're drug dealers. I hated it. How did our friendships become less important than wearing a backwards baseball cap?"* *-Robin Pecknold*
Im in highsxhool and one of my friends from 6 years has went from being so nice and a kind gentalmen to now being a jerk and hanging out with a bad crowd I asked him one day if he was ok and the group he hung out with came by and they started to fight me I didnt fight back and he just stood there watching then he started laughing and said I left him and they other because im in high school and we can hardly see each other I pray everyday that he will come back me and my other two friends wish he was the same guy we knew all thos years but ge changed and it was scary to see
Thx for adding this. Its easy to interpret into alot of different things and alot of ppl thought it was about the French revolution (which makes sense if the real reason hadn't been stated) so thx!
The lyrics refer to a scene from the post-apocalyptic novel The Road, where the father sees a band of scavenging cannibals dressed in white with red scarves.
There is another version saying this was during the French Revolution. The red scarfs are worn in order to be known as cooperators and are not against the French, except for one man named Michael that is said in the lyrics. He didn't wear the scarf and was taken to be beheaded my the French
My God this is the perfect metaphor for man's struggle to control the hands of time. Hauntingly beautiful cause no matter how hard we try the wheel keeps turning. But this is what makes life beautiful, knowing that we are here if only for a short while.
I agree, although I wouldn't call this particular song poetic. lol They've been quoted as saying that the lyrics don't actually mean anything in this song; it's supposed to be just about the harmony more than anything else.
Don't waste your youth doing nothing. Don't let it be wasted on you. Man I love this video. I hope I don't wait until I'm old before I realize how lucky I am to be young.
This might have nothing to do with what you meant by your comment but it got me thinking and I know a lot of people don't agree with me, and thats cool, but personally I believe in the idea that any time you enjoyed spending is never wasted. I also think about the idea that you can't waste time because its moving itself along, we aren't. Its happening anyway so you have no actual grasp on it and you should stop worrying about it. I don't know, I'm just throwing out things I've read that stuck with me. I know a lot of people think time is only used "correctly" if its spent doing something purposeful and that people should shun mindless activity i.e. watching tv and moves. I guess this probably includes watching youtube videos. But if you enjoy it how is it wasted? Ok, I'm rambling sorry.
Do wonderful things while you can. I am middle aged and continuously regret all the things I wish I'd done, but never did. And now, I am helping my elderly parents live out their remaining days. Sometimes I think I'll die before they will from all the heartache. Go live your life!!!
This is honestly one of the most perfect songs written. There are so many ways you can interpret this song. It makes me feel so many feelings at the same time.

Almost a year ago I had my first car accident to this song. I had actually been having a bad day until the very moment I saw a sunset and was caught off guard. The car hit mine at just the perfect spot and the impact caused my radio and speakers to distort- there’s something about hearing a jovial song distorted from the impact of an otherwise melancholic event. I’m not saying this to be depressive, I’m just trying to recover from that very incident a year later. Not to say that I was hurt physically, because I wasn’t. This event just singlehandedly threw me in the bout of depression and anxiety. I’m saying all of this a year later, where parallels seem to keep occurring from that time in my life last year and everything I do reminds me of this same exact moment I was living. I don’t know what this means or if anyone will see this but I just wanted to get it out. If that makes any sense.
Something about these lyrics make it feel like this song has existed forever. When I heard PTX’s cover, I was totally convinced it was some old folk song I’d never heard. Instead, I was lead to this INCREDIBLE band I’d never heard, and it’s well on its way to becoming one of my favorites. I especially just can’t get over White Winter Hymnal, I love how timeless this version sounds :)
I think I finally understand the meaning of the song. Or perhaps it’s just my interpretation. You live life mindlessly, following your everyday routine, until one day you look back and it’s this feeling of shock. How much has changed and how you’re no longer the same ambitious kid. But all you can do is keep ‘following the pack’.
Actually, according to the writer, this song is a sort of a flashback to his childhood when he'd been "following the pack" of friends. Many of his friends fell into the drug culture (Michael you would fall). The snow turning red is a pretty obvious symbol for bleeding, or otherwise losing one's life.
rzwoofer wow, cool :-) i was interested to know the real meaning and wasn’t sure. that was just my interpretation of the song though. the song is very metaphorical and i think can be universally interpreted to whatever the listener is feeling, but thanks for letting me know! i love this band and it’s nice to know what the writer was feeling while creating the song.
The turning back time wheel, but not permanent, is like a dream looking back into your days of youth and energy when everything was perfect. With the diagnosis of an extremely rare disease recently at the age of 21, I often feel like I’ve been transported to being 80 years old. My mind is like this wheel. Where there was once a worry free world where I was perfect. Forever locked away.
I am in a very similar situation, also with a rare condition. My health improved after receiving a proper diagnosis and starting treatment for it, but unless medical technology makes some amazing advancements in my lifetime (which is possible but not good for betting odds), I will never get back to where I was before I first became ill.
I am sorry. I pray this condition in your body will be managed to live a ling and fruitful life in your present young days into your old. God bless you

Chloe Hampton the original version is in E major which is much happier feeling and sunnier than the pentatonix D major version which is a more celebratory key
i think this one also feels festive because it sounds like bells in the background sometimes and his vocals sound like a choir which reminds me of Christmas carolers, but it could feel like summer as well, iit makes this song so special, everyone will hear different i think
This video is so amazing, when you first listen to it the beat gets you hooked , then once the song is over it ends with the guy closing his eyes as he is old so when you go back and rewind the video to listen to it again it starts with him opening his eyes in the exact same position as it ended so in a way it's like it's infinite if you keeping rewinding the video I love how they did that

@@Riversradios no, he's saying that he and his friends were walking through the snow and they were wearing scarves that would keep their heads above the snow if they fell through. But Michael fell and ended up getting killed (maybe he hit his head on a rock?) It was his blood that turned the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime.
[Pecknold]: ‘I mean a lot of the record is about family and friends, very little of it is… I don’t think there’s any real love song that’s on the record, but that one is just like about my experience when I was a kid, you know, like I had my really tight group of friends. But as we grew up from grade school to junior high to high school, everybody just kind of split off, and everybody kind of changed. I went from like this tight-knit group to, seemingly for no reason, everybody was kind of going their own way. That song is just about that feeling.'” -Later in the same interview: [Interviewer]: ‘The song references a person named Michael. Is that someone specific, or is that just a name for a feeling?’ [Pecknold]: ‘A person named Michael.’ [Interviewer]: ‘It is?’ [Pecknold]: ‘[Laughs.] Yeah. Michael is a great buddy of mine from back when. We just totally, I don’t know, he was one of the kids I knew from grade school on. If I saw him now, I really don’t know what we would talk about. It’s just kind of that same thing that kind of happened really gradually.’ ”
I had read somewhere that Robin mentioned this song was about how drugs and gangs became more important than friendships that had been built up over time.

it's about the French Revolution."following the pack" they go see the executions. The red scarves are the revolutionaries. "to keep their little heads from falling in the snow" because at this time, you are guillotined if you are not a revolutionary. Michael don't have a red scarve, so he is not a revolutionary."you would fall" he was guillotined and his blood "turn the white snow red".

Just lost my second little brother yesterday. One to a car crash and now the other to an overdose. Wish I had a handle I could crank back right now, even if just for a few minutes.
😔🌻 I am so very sorry. I lost my Mom 2.5 months ago. This song has been sort of a life jacket through this awful time. I hope you find it so too. Peace.
I’ve always loved this song, and it’s always had a special place in my heart. Today, though, the meaning changed greatly for me and became more personal. Today I went to a funeral for a young boy from my high school who died of suicide. His name was Michael. As I lay in bed before going to sleep, I put on my relaxing songs playlist. This song came on and I instantly felt at peace. Then I heard the lyric “and Michael you would fall” and was shocked at how poignant and meaningful that line had suddenly become for me, and I cried. Thank you for writing this beautiful, haunting song and touching my life with it.
I play this song for my baby in the womb and he loves it. His nursery is also similar in aesthetic to the music video🍄🪵🥀🌱 I hope when he is born in August he recognizes it!🥰

This song is pure magic from its start to end, despite how short it is. It transports you to a different time and place with its folk melodies, intricate instrumentation, and gorgeous harmonies. Completely different league from the other songs out there right now, even those from the fleet foxes' subsequent albums. This song, and the album that it was released in, is how I'd always remember the fleet foxes by.
You seem to really appreciate this song! Do you have any recommendations for similar wintery folk like this? I’m also struggling to find anything on its level!
@@SeanHolden Wintery folk is such an apt description of this track; it is a sentiment best attributed to Robin Pecknold's distinctively yearning vocals as well as the band's judicious use of warm instrumentals and masterfully-structured arrangements. "Bibio" is, within my limited knowledge of such a vast expanse of music, an artiste that comes somewhat close to conjuring idyllic soundscapes with his music, but you won't find vocal harmonies and walls of sounds as palatial and affecting as tracks found in the Fleet Foxes' debut album. In your words, you will Bibio's songs to be closer to "Autumny folk". Try "Curls" and "Oakmoss". You should also listen to Robin Pecknold's collaboration with Big Red Machine in "Phoenix". Take care and best wishes Sean :)
Oh, this song makes me so nostalgic... I haven't seen this music video since I was a child. I vividly remember that every morning, my mom would play this song on our way to drop me off at daycare. And the video was so mesmerizing. I'm happy I found this. 🤍
I didn't figure this out but this song refers to the French Revolution. If you didn't wear a red scarf like the rebels you were decapitated. I've also heard that high collar coats were popular at the time, which would explain the coats swallowing people in the song.
+Collin A. I have personally pictured this many times, as young children walking home from school, bundled so well that the coats swallow up their little selves. Follow that image with snow so deep and little ones being unbalanced, I imagine the big red scarves basically wrapped around their heads so they don't fall and get cold, wet snow all over their face. In my mind, when Michael falls, probably because he's waddling in his oversized puffy coat trying to keep up but is the last one running behind, his scarf comes undone and he falls backward, and the scarf just billows everywhere as he laughs on the ground. The narrator sees the scarf and starts to daydream, imagining that Michael is now laying in a field of red strawberries in the middle of summer. The transition seems reminiscent of Olaf's musical number in Frozen, though that movie came later. Same basic principle though. I like that they left it open to interpretation, because the listener can make it mean whatever they want it to. The French Revolution is a very clever, educated guess, but it doesn't have to be morbid or gory if someone doesn't want it to be. My imagination took me to that whimsical, childhood place because that's most natural to me, as a daydreamer who remembers what she was like as a kid, and who is now a mother. You could just as easily find a completely different meaning just by watching the video, which I love by the way. The pack is young, but poor Michael can't keep up and turn back time, so now he's old and perhaps he gets hurt or dies. Who knows. It really is up to us. 😊
I found this online on a forum about the meaning of this song. I felt this hit it right on the spot BUT art is subjective. The song is different things for different people. Give it a read anyway... :) "The line about following the pack, following their coats does bring up images of kids. I also relate it to people following a certain trend. The scarves tied round their throats could refer to a fear of becoming socially unacceptable if they were to stop following the ways of the masses. Its almost as if thats the only thing thats keeping them alive. "And I turned round and there you go" could refer to him being awakened by a friend of his who was never part of whatever specific way of life it may be referring to. But then in the line "Michael you would fall, and turn the white snow read as strawberries in the summertime" conjures up images of injury or failure. But since he says "turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime" maybe his fall is a good thing since the imagery used is so beautiful. Maybe his "fall" is a step forward."
I can't believe the AUDACITY of PTX fans who have the nerve to say FF should be honored that PTX covered their song (yes I saw some comments here, and that's the reason why I'm posting this). I'm by no means a hater and I don't expect most of you to appreciate this style anyway, since we all have different tastes, but can we stop insulting the original? They own the song and they tell the story better. Some covers just can't show the real essence of the song, no matter how technically impressive the singers are.
Camille Henley no offense but that proves nothing. justin beiber gets more views than kendrick lamar. Psy has more views than any other artists. and fleet foxes stopped promoting a long time ago because they're on hiatus...

You can tell that a song is amazing when it evokes multiple emotions at the same time, tells two different stories that both make you feel feelings, and loops so wonderfully that you never get sick of it.
One. RUclips puts the most popular video for that search first. Two. PTX isn’t even that popular so no, they are not overrated if anything they are underrated at points. Three. Their version of this song is beautiful and the original version of this song is beautiful, I think that’s all that should matter.

Great speculations! Unfortunately, this beautiful song actually has a rather sad connotation. Here is what I believe the real meaning of the song is. During the French Revolution, mobs of revolutionists beheaded those (such as royalty -- I'm sure you've heard of Marie Antoinette) who were against the revolution. Revolutionists would gather around the guillotines in "packs" to watch the beheadings. The fashion then was to wear high-collared coats, which may have appeared to "swallow" the individual. Also, I found a painting depicting a beheading scene in the French Revolution. The revolutionists in the illustration wore red scarves around their necks, perhaps to symbolize their loyalty to the revolution. Perhaps "Michael" didn't wear a red scarf or did not support the revolution, and thus he was quickly beheaded at the guillotine. "I was following the pack all swallowed in their coats" -- someone was following the revolutionists on their way to the guillotine to behead those who opposed the movement. Perhaps this person was for the revolution and was a friend of Michael, or he too was on his way to the guillotine. "With scarves of red tied 'round their throats" -- the revolutionists wore red scarves to symbolize their loyalty. "To keep their little heads from falling in the snow" -- in order to keep from being beheaded, they wore the red scarves to show others that they were for the revolution. "And I turned 'round and there you'd go, and Michael you would fall, and turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime." -- Michael did not wear a scarf or did not support the revolution, and thus he was quickly beheaded. Hope this helps :)
That is the meaning and I think someone said that Michael is what they used to refer to the guillotine which makes sense saying that "Michael, you will fall" meaning the blade will fall and turn the white snow red with blood.
+Nutritious Cookie I did further research and Michael does not refer to the guillotine but instead refers to Michael the arch angel whom fell. There's plenty to look up about that if you'd like to learn the story. They used that as a biblical reference in the song. It makes sense. :) sorry for the previous mistake.
+Golden Noodles I really love when people analyse stuff like this, it's really amazing how some people notice these little things. I love listening to lyrics and being able to say I understand what a song is about rather than just- this is nice. Well done you've really done it properly.

It's amazing how fast the world changes. The dynamic between the original and the ptx cover still amazes me. It's almost like the story's perspective changes based on the style of the music, if that makes any sense.
Robin Pecknold was basically still a kid when he wrote the first Fleet Foxes album. Writing a hit pop song when young is impressive, but creating a timeless work of genuine profundity and beauty aged 19/20 is an altogether different league of accomplishment.
i miss him so bad..he was looking at me , turning purple, i was begging him to stay, telling him im sorry, i love you, please stay..see i forgot how to do cpr due to the fact i was overwhelmed with fear for his life, i eventually had a helper but he was already gone, we live in a rural area, and it took 2 and a half hours for the morgue to come get him, i would not leave him, now im so lonely for him, he was always put down by people and he was mentally ill and had quit taking his meds because he said they made him a zombie..he had no one who loved him for him, i did, i always was there for him, i did fuss at him sometimes when he would stray but i always took him in and housed him and fed him...he did not deserve to die with so much sadness in his heart, he could see the good in everyone..
Charity Webster He sounds like he was a lovely person to have had in your life :') And from reading your comment I am sure that in his last moments he felt lucky to have had you in his life - there is nothing more that a person can cherish in life than a loving family member, because family is forever, even after departures (through memory, sprit or heaven). I am terribly sorry for your loss and the experience that coupled with it...it must've been more than heart breaking to go through...so whenever you may feel the sadness of his passing, just remember how your brother will have felt knowing that YOU were there for him to hold him when he needed you the most...and if you are a religious person, then know that this separation between the two of you is not forever, and you will be reunited in complete bliss one day :') take care friend, and your daughter has a very kind and loving heart for saying what she said when listening to this song

Especially as a parent, that bunny moment gets me (the little vulnerable one you are taking care of will someday move on and it will seem like a surprise) Thanks for pointing out that detail!
So when I saw this video on 2009, I was blown away by the creation of it. I recently saw this video by Fleet Foxes." where I then went on to describe what I loved about it and how it was amazing. and he said "Thanks, I made it." which blew my mind and the conversation went even deeper.
I hated it. How did our friendships become less important than wearing a backwards baseball cap?"*
*-Robin Pecknold*

Thx for adding this. Its easy to interpret into alot of different things and alot of ppl thought it was about the French revolution (which makes sense if the real reason hadn't been stated) so thx!
Im pretty sure this song has no meaning at all. If I remember correctly they said it was just some funny lyrics and nothing more.
We're only alive a short while,

Ha I like the name. It’s fitting for what you said.
I'm seeing bigger things in this. I see climate change in this. The gods who crank the earth are tired.
Like I see their mushrooms and tending of the earth as joyful. Not to regret. Like maybe they stopped because we made them sick.
This is honestly one of the most perfect songs written. There are so many ways you can interpret this song. It makes me feel so many feelings at the same time.

@@fleetfoxes3518huh??? Are u real?
If that makes any sense.
holy shit
Don’t worry, you make sense. I’m sorry such an unexpected thing like that happened and caused you any pain. You have support from me to feel better.
I hope things get better. That sounds hard. My thoughts are with you

But all you can do is keep ‘following the pack’.
maddy mq
This song has no meaning which makes it amazing
I mean are you reading the lyrics or just watching the video? Because its really easy to interpret the video.
Actually I thought it was about gang warefare, bloods and crips. Okay not directly but it fits.

Pentatonix had a festive feel while Fleet Foxes has that warm feeling you get while watching the stars. Both are good to me.
Chloe Hampton the original version is in E major which is much happier feeling and sunnier than the pentatonix D major version which is a more celebratory key
There’s birdie too, her cover is great
i think this one also feels festive because it sounds like bells in the background sometimes and his vocals sound like a choir which reminds me of Christmas carolers, but it could feel like summer as well, iit makes this song so special, everyone will hear different i think
Thanks sweet tooth that bring me back to my good old days again. What a memories!

@@lequinntessential I’ll give your suggestions a listen! Thanks so much
Oh, this song makes me so nostalgic...
I've also heard that high collar coats were popular at the time, which would explain the coats swallowing people in the song.
that's what i thought
+Goblin Zeus I think it's swallowed meaning their coast are so big and their "swallowed" by their coats
If this were true, they'd be singing "and *Michel you would fall and turn..."
I found this online on a forum about the meaning of this song. I felt this hit it right on the spot BUT art is subjective. The song is different things for different people. Give it a read anyway... :)
"The line about following the pack, following their coats does bring up images of kids.
+qwertylee not hating, but the ptx version has 3,000,000+ more views than the original...
Camille Henley
no offense but that proves nothing. justin beiber gets more views than kendrick lamar. Psy has more views than any other artists. and fleet foxes stopped promoting a long time ago because they're on hiatus...
point taken.

The folk vocal harmonies of Fleet Foxes is what keeps me coming back. It's there golden standard in all there music❤️😎
Thanks for your incredible support and love towards my music for long ago. I really appreciate it all, you have been a great fans and May God bless all my lovely fan’s ❤
What kind of mental state you even need to reach to create such a magical, mysterious and beautiful music. I can't comprehend.
I love the feeling I get from these guys
considering your profile pic it doesn't seem good... XD
VΔƤєŘ ✌ Clan haha no I really love that folk sound. Makes me wanna go climb mountains or go for hikes
I know right!
You can tell that a song is amazing when it evokes multiple emotions at the same time, tells two different stories that both make you feel feelings, and loops so wonderfully that you never get sick of it.
I must confess, you’re on point here.
This band has the mystic that music nowadays is missing. So good melodies and i takes you to a good place. God bless fleet foxes.
I cant describe it, but this song always makes me feel like happy crying in the woods in a winter twilight hour. So comforting
I honestly think this version and PTXs' version was absolutely great! :) They both did a very good job.
this is the original...
I know..
Pentatonix is the only reason i watched this ^_^
Lily Hoang Me too.
^~^ same
I find it sad when you type in "white winter hymnal" into RUclips this second and the pentatonix version is first
D3ßtroy and it has 75 million views :(
can't blame them tho, they have a humongous fanbase and they did a jaw-droppingly good cover
One. RUclips puts the most popular video for that search first.
Two. PTX isn’t even that popular so no, they are not overrated if anything they are underrated at points.
Three. Their version of this song is beautiful and the original version of this song is beautiful, I think that’s all that should matter.
This is by far the best version of this song. Fleet Foxes owns it. I'm enthralled with the visual story. Stop-motion always mesmerizes me.
They credited them, alot of people came because pentatonix made a choreography to their video which is cool to watch
In Manchester right now awaiting the fleet Foxes gig at the Apollo, we just had a walk to the venue and met robin pecknold sat out the back what a great guy stood and had a chat to us for 10mins made my day pre gig.
Always amazed at what 2 mins and 27 sec can do your general well being.
This song hit me so hard. I watched it for the first time by myself and by the end of it I was on the brink of tears. So powerful
Saving this for later, ignore it. Strumming stuff

Weird flex but ok
Cool
I love this song so much I dont even know why but I love it
Maybe you could check this cover of this song too. I'm in love with this ruclips.net/video/WcFVerz1X1k/видео.html
It’s just catchy xD
The composition , the background harmonies, the lyrics etc. Plenty of reasons why fam 😉
Me too. I LOVE IT!
I know just what you mean!!!!!
Fleet foxes just has a different kind of vibe that I do not get from most songs I hear. Their songs always makes me imagine a forest or mountain.
how have I just now heard this band? they're incredible!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Fleet Foxes. I've been listening to these guys for like 5 years. So good. So so so good.
+Rezei thanks g :) i've literally had this entire album on repeat all day. amazing stuff.

Yes I listen to this when I'm not uploading content
+Kylie Jackson Can you find any source for that? I tried to find it, but I can't find anything referring to the French naming the guillotine.
+Golden Noodles Wow! I love this analysis, excellent work. Cheers mate
+Golden Noodles I really love when people analyse stuff like this, it's really amazing how some people notice these little things. I love listening to lyrics and being able to say I understand what a song is about rather than just- this is nice. Well done you've really done it properly.
I'm turning 55 soon and am realizing what I should have done with my life...quite a bit late but, that's life for you, and it began and shall end with music! Hearing new and different music is my strongest passion.Ive been drawn to it my whole life. The kids are out of the house now living their own dreams, the wife is still my closest friend(however different we have become now❤after separating) and was contemplating what I might do for the rest of my life now that it is ALL mine to finish...I want to follow/travel/experience my passion no matter where it takes me...I know my soul will finally settle listening/creating/and FEELING music...and who knows? I'm a pretty talented person so, you just might hear something I have created someday 😉😊🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵❤❤❤❤❤
The stop motion and song just.... makes me realise, life travels fast, and try to rewind your own life. And once you go back all the way to your childhood, it goes back to the present... and you realise it was best to remember those child days.... and makes you go rummaging through old stuff and ( someone continue this )
Finding items that bring back the nostalgia and memories of being a young child again.
Thanks for your incredible support and love towards my music for long ago. I really appreciate it all, you have been a great fans and May God bless all my lovely fan’s ❤
When I was five, I needed to go to the doctor every day and we used to listen to this song every time in the car. I'm so glad I finally found it...this brings back so many memories..💜
I’m singing this song in chorus and boy is this my favorite of all. Every time I watch this video it makes me tear up it’s just so very clever
I can’t describe how much I love this song, I’m out of words.
1:04 lmAo he just bopping
In all seriousness this has emotion especially the moral and I love it!
Lol
How nicely blended those components- simple and little bright melody, awesome and charming clay art video, serious and dark lyrics...
the little claymation guys are just so adorable it breaks my heart
The way the one guy looks around for the missing rabbit after they go back to the future absolutely breaks me
Truly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. This band is absolutely flawless.
I miss you, Eliza. I'll never forget that you love Fleet Foxes, I'll never forget how you play the folk harp, even if you thought you were bad at it. Your laugh melts me, and you look like an elven goddess without your glasses on. We never even saw the light of day and that breaks my heart. I wish I had a real chance.
EDIT: I should be more clear, she isn't dead. We just didn't work out. Sorry for the confusion for some folks. Love you all, keep listening to good music
Rest in Peace Eliza

That hits different. Legit just cried.
I forgot this song - ty - this should be an official Christmas song
it is whenever there's a school related choir "holidays" event but it's always a cringey acapella version of the song because Pentatonix did that one time.
Should not be a Christmas song, too good to only be played around Christmas.
Its a halloween song because it says “Michael u would fall“ fall means die
And its turning red ans strawberries in the summertime feels mushy and thats how blood feels in snow
Michaels blood.............
So it should be an official ,•Halloween song’•
I think it belongs to that inbetween time
For Christmas and New years
Robin Pecknold (the writer of the song) confirmed this is NOT a Christmas song.
Go on, be free, listen to this whenever. It deserves that.
wowwww... I'm just noticing the rabbit... I'm not crying, you are
One of the most bittersweet experiences of Life.
I just stumbled upon this band, and I am really happy for hearing them. I’m 57 years old, and new, or newer music, doesn’t really find its way into my soul and my heart, but this group has done just that.
this comment might get no attention, but i need to get this out there for my own sake.
my cousins/uncle played this on a tv at a cabin trip probably a decade ago, and its never left me since. i love the sound, the visuals, and especially the message. time has DEFINITELY passed since i was shown this, but the meaning rings clear. do what you can while you can, because tomorrow isnt really that far away and you never know how much you'll regret the things you never did until its too late. take care, make smart choices, and be good.
enjoy it while it lasts!
Such a beautiful memory and sentiment!
You got it!
But im a nostalgic person. I already miss things while they're happening
@@Varg580 only hurting yourself G. gotta appreciate those moments when they happen, and still be happy later that they happened. dont get sad knowing things might get bad later, they can and will. its life, appreciate the good and the bad
It's amazing how fast the world changes. The dynamic between the original and the ptx cover still amazes me.
It's almost like the story's perspective changes based on the style of the music, if that makes any sense.
Whenever we get our first snow I always take a walk the night after listening to this song. Makes everything a bit more beautiful.
This song will always be magical and perfect.
This song is perfect. This band is perfect. The clay art the music I love everything about this song
I heard this when I was 18.
Now I am 28.
This song evokes just as many emotions as it did a decade ago on the night I first heard it.
This is the best song I ever heard! This might steal my heart for my #1 favorite song!!
I love fleet foxes been listening to them since I was 3. Listen to more of their songs
wow aren't you a special little snowflake
....
OxicleanMom y u gotta be mean boi
check The Twelves remix if you haven't already...
Robin Pecknold was basically still a kid when he wrote the first Fleet Foxes album. Writing a hit pop song when young is impressive, but creating a timeless work of genuine profundity and beauty aged 19/20 is an altogether different league of accomplishment.
I need a 10 hour version of this so I don't have come and replay it every 2 and a half minutes
Just right click it twice and select Loop.
One of the best things about Magic Actions for RUclips is the loop button

MY DAUGHTER SAID THIS REMINDS HER OF MY BROTHER, he left this world laying in my arms January 2014..his name was also Michael..
im so sorry to hear yhat
he's with the angels somewhere in the heaven
i miss him so bad..he was looking at me , turning purple, i was begging him to stay, telling him im sorry, i love you, please stay..see i forgot how to do cpr due to the fact i was overwhelmed with fear for his life, i eventually had a helper but he was already gone, we live in a rural area, and it took 2 and a half hours for the morgue to come get him, i would not leave him, now im so lonely for him, he was always put down by people and he was mentally ill and had quit taking his meds because he said they made him a zombie..he had no one who loved him for him, i did, i always was there for him, i did fuss at him sometimes when he would stray but i always took him in and housed him and fed him...he did not deserve to die with so much sadness in his heart, he could see the good in everyone..
Y do u put this in the comments
This is addictive and gorgeously morbid, I embody this song ... and the video is horrifically sad while still capturing the essence of uncontrollable time, emotion, and the beautiful process of live renewing while all the same, decaying.
Coming back from time to time to re-listen to the song while also re-watching the videoclip, everytime hits hard, a rollercoaster of emotions... Special place in the soundrack of my last decade
You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like Fleet Foxes
