What fun quilt colors! I'm a big fan of quilts, at least for three season backpacking. I hope this one keeps you nice and warm.

I hope so too! I'm going to make some booties out of the left over material for extra warmth. 😀 Thanks for commenting!

Have you tested this quilt in cold weather? Any opinions on what its temperature rating would be? I am assuming you used 5 oz Apex Climashied.

Hi! I used 7.5 oz climashield for my quilt. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm heading out this weekend for an overnighter. We will be in a rustic cabin, but it's supposed to be -20c overnight so I imagine it's going to be cold in there by morning. I'll let you know how it goes!

Hey Devin! Just letting you know I tried out the quilt. I was about 10c in the cabin the whole night and my quilt was SO warm!! I did have a light fleece liner with it, but still I compared it to my daughter's sleeping bag with her liner and my quilt was so much warmer than hers. I'm in love!

    Thank you for sharing!
I've seen you've tested it to 10C. Did you test it at lower temperatures? Thank you.
    Did you ever wash it?

Hi! Thank you for watching!! This year I brought my quilt on an early spring hiking trip and it got down to about -5c. I did really well for warmth. I wish I had made it longer, I don't like that if I want to pull it up over my head I could feel the hole at the bottom of the foot box. I also still haven't made the pad straps to cinch the quilt down to my sleep pad... Drafty!! Otherwise I love it. I brought it with me on my long hike this summer and it was wonderful to use as just a blanket on the warmer nights.

@@LinneaMae68 Thank you so much for the update! Much appreciated! If you still have time, when you were at -5 Celsius in the quilt, were you wearing a coat, or only something light like pajamas? Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply!! I was wearing a base layer if I remember correctly. It's a running hoodie I have that has a hood that's like a balaclava. I don't like when my nose gets cold. Lol

Why does everybody following the Backcountry Banter tutorial order so much fabric, when the quilt isn't that long?

I actually ordered extra to make booties otherwise I wouldn't have ordered so much.

@@LinneaMae68 Thanks for the fast reply! I just placed an order for my next quilt and wondered why I should need that much fabric.
