Good records all ! This might be a best / most influential in America, only.. As so many great British bands were and are as, or more influential than some that you showed. I'm West Coast, so I get it, and I like all of the records that you presented. My friends in the UK Im sure would like to have seen a more even mix mix between the US and the UK. Again.. There are a lot of West Coast bangers in this batch of albums ! Cheers from Nevada 🎵
Damaged- Black Flag
Group Sex - Circle Jerks
Out of Step- Minor Threat
The Crew -7 Seconds
Milo Goes to College- DESCENDENTS
Great video! I agree with your choices.
Not sure how you’ve missed London’s Calling by The Clash, or Generation Terrorists by Manic Street Preachers off, which was hugely successful in the U.K. before Dookie and really re sparked interest in the punk genre in 1992. A genre that really was considered dead here after 1982.
I'd definitely be interested to see what albums out of that early 80s hardcore scene you thought were the most influential. I'd have Bad Brains ROIR tape, Milo Goes to College, and something from Black Flag in there.
Definitely Milo Goes to College. I’d also say Minor Threat s/t, Los Angeles by X, Bad Brains s/t, Black Flag Damaged, and Misfits Walk Among Us.
It's pretty good list I actually don't have any complaints with it. I myself would probably have added Milo goes to college by the descendents as I think that is definitely one of the most influential punk records ever. For me I think one of the best punk records maybe the closest to perfection from beginning to end is about time from pennywise there's not a bad song on that record. As always thanks for the great content.
Interesting observations. Love the attempt as always. When you think back about the 80s there were many bands that steered Punk. Some omissions for the list
The Clash
Gang of Four
The Specials
Talking Heads
Gary Numan
XTC
There are others as well and they may not sound like Johnny Rotten or the Ramones, but by the late 80s I don’t think of those as Punk. Green Day is/was not Punk imho
This list missed almost all of the performances in the movie Urgh A Music War. Check it out

Agree with all the bands you mentioned but i would’ve included Descendents
Yeah, I probably should have included Milo Goes to College.
I just started listening to Punk and can't understand why I didn't listen to it in the 70's. My favorite punk group would have to be Viagra Boys.
I think you missed most of the 80s. Like the hardcore stuff from the early to mid-80s. Not acknowledging Bad Religion, The Circle Jerks, and Black Flag (or at least one of these) seems like a big swing and a miss.
I had Suffer by BR in the video.
@@TheVinylDen that’s so weird. I watched it on premier and didn’t see it…
@@TheVinylDen apologies! And good call with Suffer! lol
Have to agree with this.
I just feel Green Day is overrated. my .02
Even if their music is overrated, their influence on bringing Punk to the mainstream is definitely not overrated. Punk was completely underground until “Dookie” hit. Just my opinion
