It is much better to use your notebooks than it is to feel too precious about them and have them gathering dust without being used. So who cares how quickly you fill them up? If you ever do run out, you can always buy more. Keep on writing, and see where it takes you.
Very nice!!! I'm thinking 1 per week is gonna be what I do on average as well. The one I'm on currently it's been a bit longer than a week since I've been busy. It's only got a few pages left, tho.
I love the music you’re using it’s got a real 80s vibe going on. It really brings me back to my youth back in the day so now I am 51 years old male. All this to say I really love your content in your videos and your videos in general.
Happy new year! 🎉🎆My FN usage is usually about 1 per month, sometimes a little more frequently. For 2024, I went through 14 notebooks. I agree with the other viewer; who cares how many notebooks you go through as long as you use them. Can’t wait to see what you create in 2025! 🤓
Take a look at the Galen Leather Pocket notebooks (set of 3 - Blank paper - 64 sheets (128 pages). They are the same size. Greeting from the Netherlands.
Hey man, I have been watching your videos since you began on this journey. I love this little niche I found myself in. Anyways, I had a problem with filling out my notebook too fast. I decided to go down to a smaller tip pen and studied my handwriting. I am left handed like you so I thought you’d maybe enjoy the thought of exploring penmanship! Great video like always, keep it up brother
Thanks for watching! That's very interesting: writing smaller to fill up notebooks a bit slower! I appreciate the support and the suggestions. Thank you for being here!!
For cheaper alternative, get a small notepad (perforated), and grab some of the papers, folded in half, and use a rubber band (traveler's kit) to put it in Field Notes.
I have an actual journal for writing and my pocket notebooks are used for things like making quick notes for myself or if I hear some quote I like I jot it down
Very nice!! I use the pocket notebook system because I'm more often than not away from my desk, so it makes writing easier for me! Thanks for sharing and tuning in!
Congratulations 🎊 on finishing your first Field Notes!!! No beard Garrett! It took me about 3 to almost 4 months to finish 1 Field Notes. I don't journal in my Field Notes since I want a bigger book for that.
Haha, as someone who also uses their PN’s for long-form writing (reflecting and writing in general), I go through one in about 4- 7 days. They’re 160 page A7’s, like your Pen & Gear. And I have a pretty tiny handwriting, lol. I’m thinking of switching to A6 once these ones are done (just for more space so they won’t finish as quick) as I bought in bulk and I want them to finish before I purchase more (fighting overconsumption). Have you considered digitizing your content pages? I keep a running note on my phone with the content of each notebook (page numbers and topic) which makes it SO MUCH EASIER to find what I’m looking for! I’m also slowly working towards digitizing and expanding specific content within my notebooks - I do this for things I wanna take past a first draft stage, and I’m very particular about what I choose. I’m using Obsidian for this. Just some ideas! Looking forward to this week’s video!
Thanks for sharing!!! I have heard of Obsidian and others like it. I personally prefer the tactical method of notebook and pen for my own stuff. BUT I appreciate the suggestion nonetheless! I, too, can't wait for the next video!😄
I'm still on my first mini journal but hey it might be a good thing, oh and would you be interested in looking at Carpe Diem's mini journals and Journal/passport holders? I use their passport holders for my mini journals and they're absolutely amazing!
I'm interested in your thoughts re 5 days, or let's say a week, to fill a Field notebook. First, that seems really expensive to burn through them so fast. How does it translate $/page or $/day for you -- especially since you were using the cheap mini composition books before. Secondly, will you miss having a pocket notebook, that doesn't have a longer log history? For example when you are out and about and want to check your notes/ideas/reference from 2 weeks ago? Lastly, please let us know if you go find it cumbersome to leaf through 3-5 Field notebooks vs say, a mini composition notebook with 2 or 3 times the pages - searching for some project idea you think happened 5-6 weeks ago. You may need to keep a more detailed external index of what's in each book to save time. Good luck with your experiment.
Thanks for sharing! So, I actually hadn't thought much about the flipping-back-through issue. To be honest, it hasn't shown to be a big issue yet. As far as price is concerned, I am grateful to have gotten these sent to me from Field Notes, so technically, they were free. However, once I start running low, I have no problem switching back to my mini composition books. I also have plans to do an external book full of strictly video ideas. That way, for things like that, I don't have to flip back through a plethora of notebooks/pages. Thanks again for commenting! I appreciate the detailed feedback
Actually, this is why I went from pocket notebooks to A5. After several months reviewing my notes becomes a chore of how I well I organized my old pocket notebooks. Spoiler alert, I didn't store them very well.
This is something I have considered. Not exactly, but I have considered moving all my video ideas to a separate book and copying them over upon completion of each pocket notebook. Just for when I need any video ideas, I know exactly where to go!

I agree 100%!! Thank you!
I'm right there with you. I go through about one per week. And this morning (Jan. 5th), I finished up the one that I started on New Year's Day.

Thank you for this suggestion!!! Greetings from the USA

There ya go! Thanks for the tip!
I’ve really been enjoying your channel. You may need a Golden State Valkyries poster as well.
I am so happy to hear you've been enjoying!!! I NEED a Valkyries poster now!!! Gotta represent our new team in the W!

Field Notes are best used for bullet point outlines to be fleshed out later on Composition notebooks. That's how I use it, anyway.
I'm truly amazed you're still able to read your own writing.
HAHA yeah I amaze myself with that too🤣
Congratulations 🎊 on finishing your first Field Notes!!!
No beard Garrett!

Thank you!!! There's nothing wrong with that. Sounds like you've got your own system that works well for you!

I believe I've been recommended them before! I'll have to write it down and see what they've got!
Great video. Thank you.
I'm glad you enjoyed!! Thank you for watching!
Happy New Year dude 😊🎉
Happy new year to you as well!!
Intermingle the pen and gear ones with the field notes so you're using all of them. And so you don't run out of field notes
Oooh, what a great way to keep things fresh and interesting!
Big brian🧠 Definitely been hooked on the field notes as of late
@laurieline3888 agreed!

As I reply to this I just woke up from a nap🤣 This it my first ever "babe wake up ___ posted" comment. Thank you!🤣

Holy shit
Wheres ur beard?
HA! It's on holiday. It'll be back very soon🤣🤣🤣
…the part when a channel starts pumping content heavily towards a particular brand / nice video nonetheless !
Haha, thanks! The streak of field notes is simply a coincidence🤣 Glad you enjoyed regardless😉
