    I excited to learn more because I’m not sure if I qualify but I’m active duty and can probably make sure I qualify before leaving. My first contract was 2 years 10 months and my second enlistment was over 4 years. My situation is unconventional.

      if you have those two period of service where you served under MGIB and under Post 9/11, you might rate it.

    Thanks for breaking this down because my first impression was that if have to re enter into the military to qualify for this. 💯

    I was medically retired halfway through my second contract so I wonder if it would still apply to me. I hope so… I’m already working towards my BA in teaching and I have one month left of my GI Bill, so I really hope it’ll apply to me

      @@robertjohnston6976 I’d definitely get ahold of the VA for your situation. As far as I know, it doesn’t specify completion of a second contract due to medical retirement, so you might just rate it.

    Make sure when you fill out the 22-1995, under block 10 page 2 (remarks) you put that you are requesting remaining chapter 30 benefits under the Rudisill decision or they will still deny you... I spent several hours on the phone with them last week after my 2nd denial for MGIB.

      Why do you want MGIB when the Post 9-11 is so much better of a benefit? Unless, you're not eligible for the Post 9-11?

    • @chadbear8938
      @chadbear8938 27 дней назад

      @@bkmarine1 1- I paid into the MGIB, 2- I have been denied VRB/VRE, and 3- I exhausted my post 9/11 GI bill, applied for the STEM extension, and was denied, so to finish my degree I have been paying out of pocket. the MGIB is the opportunity for me to recoup some of what I have spent to finish my degree.

    Does a contract extension qualifies as a second period of service? I did a 48mo extension when I got orders overseas but never re-enlisted.

    • @thegreenlogbook
      @thegreenlogbook  12 дней назад +1

      I don't think it does. it's an extension of the first contract. BTW, 48 months is a hell of an extension! why didn't you opt to reenlist instead?

    • @alfredogarcia2809
      @alfredogarcia2809 11 дней назад +1

      @thegreenlogbook I did an extension just because I wanted to stay as a first term airman, in case I decided to switch career fields and retrain to a different job in the future. It is very difficult to change jobs for a career airman

    • @thegreenlogbook
      @thegreenlogbook  11 дней назад

      @ understood, but from what I gather, an extension is not a re-enlistment. Suggest you check out the language on the new release to see if it applies to you.

    Many used reserve GI bill while in the reserves. My unit got activated deployed, some got the Purple Heart. From what i understand the benefit that allows the active duty GI bill with those who have a Purple Heart expired and only applies to people who served 2013 and after. This makes no sense. I am surprised this hasn’t been changed.

      not unless it was 2 3 year contracts that spanned both MGIB and P911. If you did just one term and paid into the MGIB, thats probably all you were eligible for.

      President-elect Trump had nothing to do with this decision. What are you smoking?..lol.. Neither did Biden. It was the Supreme Court who decided after Rudisill sued the VA. Who you should thank is Veteran Rudisill.
