At cathar's crusade you should have mentioned Herd Baloth and Scurry Oak. Both will go infinite off of a single trigger from crusade (or something like Ivy Lane Denizen). Rather than go through the effort then of either finding haste or saccing tokens or trampling... the counters themselves do the work through this commander.
I like this because it feels like +1/+1 counter strategies have so much set up and not a ton of payoff for the counters themselves. This provides a payoff in a new direction and I’m here for it
that is incredibly broken for 4 mana. Red doesnt have a ton but u have access to riot, evolve, adapt, some unleash, tons of hydras, cathar's crusade, all ur stuff with 1/1 counters counts as modified, proliferate, and all the extra 1/1 counter stuff even tho most are not budget atm, and there is All Will Be One that just came out, and a few of the backgrounds and partners with them work well with counters. Im sure there is even more that will work for this but its is incredibly busted for how low cost this commander is. Oh just remembered infect works to kill with this cus infect is stupid and applies to noncombat damage. Also Avenger of Zendikar
Shalai and Hallar decks just have way too many ways to win. The deck can run ALL the strategies/combos you mentioned... and STILL have room to throw in a Basri's Lieutenant, some random Persist creatures, and both Goblin Bombardment and Ashnod's Altar! Giving you 3-4 more ways to randomly win the game out of nowhere My pod keeps it pretty casual too. Shalai and Hallar decks can basically just draw a single card per turn and will eventually drop one of the dozen win-cons in the deck
Grumgully, the Generous is a fun card to run in the 99 of this Commander is not a human to start, So Grumgully gives commander a +1/+1 counter upon entry
I'm not entirely sure cards like Renata would trigger Shallai and Hallar's ability. The verbiage is "whenever a counter is put on a creature you control", which insinuates it has to be triggered by an ability with the verbiage "put X counters on". This is hotly debated at my home table.
Since it and the red terror don't say may, wouldn't the game just win in a draw essentially since you can't stop it from putting counters on stuff? Im not exactly great at magic rules tbf.
Actually, I have a four-card combo for infinite damage with this Commander: 1. Marwyn, the Nurturer 2. Presence of God 3. Umbral Mantle 4. This Commander
This doesn't feel like Shalai. Yeah she does counters, but she should've had something to do with Hexproof. You know, that thing people jam her in decks for
Cathar's Crusade + tokens = gg. Parallel Lives/Annointed Procession/Doubling Season/Mondrak/Primal Vigor are all token doublers in these colors (plus a few counter doublers). Pyr, Conclave Mentor/Lae'zel/Hardened Scales are all extra counters and Branching Evolution is another counter doubler. I'm not familiar with +1+1 counters in red tbh but white and green have plenty of options and Naya's token production is unparalleled.
Another absolute nasty card for this commander would be "increasing savagery", its a 2colorless2green sorcery that puts 5 +1/+1 counters on target creature, then it has a flashback effect for 7 that adds 10 +1/+1's on target creature. Also its a budget buy at less than a dollar! its nasty in pretty much any commander deck that has green, but just wow with this new commander!
this can easily win in a land fall deck for the amount of land fall triggers that give +1/+1 counters, flickering creatures that etb give a bunch of counters and for the red side you can double the triggers with a copy of all will be one cause it dose the exact same thing
I know it’s not an insta win but I was surprised to not see mayeal’s aria in the pricier picks since it fills a similar role to loyal guardian replacing the commander clause for a 5 power clause which shouldn’t be a stretch for this commander to achieve.
Correct me if I am wrong but I am certain Renata wouldn't work that way with the commander as it states "they enter with a counter" not put one on when they etb thus they come in with the counter already on them and thus no counters were put on a creature you control
Yep. Entering with counters on it still counts as putting counters on a permanent. 122.6 Some spells and abilities refer to counters being “put” on an object. Doesn't work with hydras. Hydras are naturally 0/0 creatures, like Mutate creatures from OG Ravnica block. Because they ETB with the counters, this Commander never triggers to deal the damage. It's the difference between ETBing with the counters, and say using either Cathar's Crusade or Marwyn, the Nurturer in Elf Tribal. It's also why Joraga Warcaller wouldn't trigger this Commander, but Immaculate Magistrate would.
@@isaiahwelch8066 you're wrong about that when it comes to the ruling, the counters are added to the hydras it should still trigger the effect just like all will be one this is the same ruling, it also works for planeswalker as the counters are added after the creatures or the planeswalker enters the battlefield

Let’s not forget avenger of zendikar. Another gross thing is having vigor on the field with blasphemous act

Dirty
Havent watched the full vid but the 4.00 card "The Red Terror" just combos infinitely with this.
If u dont mind running a Tyranid from 40k.
If you build this way, crimson wisps would be a good trick card and savage summoning would be even better
This is the first and only deck I’ve ever had in magic. Only been playing for a month. And I absolutely love this deck.
Heliod, war elemental, red terror, walking ballista, sylvan library, idyllic tutor and enlighten tutor and all will be one
Gotta get more creative with the titles, feel like I've seen the same, "Wait.." 20x.
