I’m currently in and almost finished with cosmetology school and I always love doing four quadrants and start with the back and make my initial guide and pull everything up and then take part of my guide and use it on the sides and follow everything up. It always turns out beautiful and I love your way too !

oh yes! it's the best way to keep it looking full and flowy. in my 15 years of hairdressing, i have yet to find a cut that i like better for consistency of results! this cut looks good on anyone with super thick long hair. it's a perfect balance or removing weight and maintaining length!

What’s the difference between short and long layers ?
My hair is just past the middle of my back and my shortest layer hits the top of my neck. I have extremely thick hair and my cut makes the ends of my hair look thinner and since it takes a ton of weight off....my natural waves seem to pop!
hi mona! yes that is the best way to cut & style your hair if it’s naturally thick so it doesn’t appear “boxy” and frames the face effortlessly :) the layers will highlight the waves/curls beautifully !

Say you want your hair layered from the OBone down and that you dont want there to be a any corners in it.
The word "corners" would only be understood by a stylist that knows the difference between different cutting shapes though. IE) square layers, round layers, etc.
You could also show them the video

Yeah, but how do you cut short layers in hair a few inches below a woman's butt and who only wants one in cut off the bottom?

I would just tell her that's impossible. What is one layer mean even? Pick up the top portion and just cut it randomly😅.She needs to layer it or keep it one length.
If she chooses to layer it, you would use the same technique as in the video. You might have a bigger corner to knock out that's all.
Where are the short layers???
Short is relative. Her layers start at her OBone and her hair is down to the bottom of her back. Those are short layers for someone with hair that long.
It sounds like the style youre looking for is more of a mullet. (i'm not saying that offensively, there are new ways of cutting mullets that make them look cool).
How short are you thinking you want the layers to be?

dont be sorry, funky colors aren't for everyone. I don't like funky colors on myself either actually, my sister does though. do you like other "fashion" colors or none at all?

Oh definitely! Layers to the Obone on that length of hair is definitely short. It needed an extra step to blend it into the length 😉
