Nothing new about Horseshoe flooding. To the local anglers back in the 70's-80's come winter this was a regular occurrence. A few lads fishing the river Leach for chub would regularly get smashed up and occasionally catch 4-7lb carp. Trout weren't unusual to catch back then, but we were using trout pellets and kit-kat paste. Living in Clanfield those carp even got up the Brook despite being much smaller than the Leach. My best river carp to date is 17lb caught just below the bridge in Lechlade back in 87. Be thankful you've fenced it.
