Lenny the legend
We
Chris is a living legend. When I was a kid with no money, no internet, fishing was all I had and the mythological story of the Redmire carp was a religion to me. This era of fishing is the ‘natural’ era, there are bigger, force fed ‘fishery fed’ boily bellied fish, but in my mind, Chris’ record will never be beat.
No tengo palabras...
Never been a carp fishermen but I had to smile watching this .Lovely memories from way back 🎣 Thank you for sharing 👍
Thanks for the update Miles 👍
No wilson😂
An amazing story told by an amazing man from a time before all this high tech stuff when fishing was magical.
Legend right there 👍
Get the story wright fist
Its not a record now 😂😂😂
awesome video
Beautiful story
Great to see. The Carp Society t-shirts the juniors had looked great. Nice to see the future of angling, the next care takers of the sport.
Superb brings back memories of my times helping out, Keep it going,
This will always be the record carp for me. So much romance, feeling and mysticism about carp fishing back then. Nowadays it's more of a military operation.
Really great to see this video and know that Chris is still alive and well, he must be nearly as old as I am! For all the information on the original stocking of those king carp waters Chris Ball's book entitled The King Carp Waters contais all the details. Tight lines Chris.
A MARVELOUS MAN🙌👏👏👏👏👏
This guy is a legend
Remember this capture as if it was yesterday, can't believe it was 44 years ago.
I'm a mate of Paul Gummers. He introduce me to carp fishing. Told me all about fishing at Redmire and your enormous carp. I read your book Casting at the Sun. I like the bit about ghosts.
Thankyou mr Yates for playing your part in creating the perfect thing we call carp fishing today your stories are so special thankyou one of my real life hero’s 👍
Brilliant
What a well-kept lake.lovely surroundings.had a very relaxing day looking around.
Nice to see all the big companies getting together for a great show and love the Pallatrax products fantastic gripz hooks and the stonzes 🎣🐟👍😎🔥❤
00:50 Terry very nice to see him!
Superb, thank you for this
Lovely to hear from Chris and know that he's still about and looking well. What a fish and story.
I remember that in the Angling Times....Legendary fish and angler.....
I never got to meet him, gutted! Would love to meet Tim paisley before it’s too late! So I can thank him in person for everything he’s done for carp fishing
Some legends mentioned here, Jack Hilton, Rod Hutchinson, Bill Quinlan and obviously Chris himself. Halcyon days!
I remember when the photo was first published, think it was Anglers Mail ? I was 14 years old and stuck it on my bedroom wall, would stare at it for hours, Chris & Rod are the reason I’m still doing it today, superb 👌🏻
I was the same age and did exactly the same thing! I used to get the Angling Times and Anglers Mail every week and was blown away by that picture. Having said that, a few big bream and tench also made it onto the wall! Even a big bag of roach!
"I'd be interested to see,the Dagenham-Lake 'entry' as l always thought the Richard Walker Common from there was a 'Galacian' (Leney) !".
I could listen to Chris all day.
It would be nice if some of the records could be put on line, but I guess folk don't want people to know where they all went. When I lived in Willington I was made aware of Leney Carp from Hilton being moved by the old Gravel works employees into their club gravel pits in Derbyshire area, I have pictures of fish which were supposedly Leney fish.
We used to call him the Murray Walker of carp fishing in the Carp-Talk office. He was well-liked and a great communicator with an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of carp fishing history - and he couldn't half mangle a phrase when he got excited! Sad that he's gone, but this is a wonderful tribute.
You're making me a tad nostalgic...
Wonderful man, could listen to him for hrs, and love his books
Thank you very much for this. I haven't been carp fishing for 30 years, wildlife photography and natural history takes up too much time. But it was an important part of my life, which I will never forget. I never met Chris, although I did know people who knew him. I have met Tim, but he would never remember me, because I was a nobody. Actually, I was fishing Berth Pool, when he was fishing the Mangrove, and I knew about Pinky and Perky in Erewhon, 40 year ago. I used the names that I think Tim invented, because I don't know what the current status is.
Back when carp fishing was carp fishing…brilliant. Shame Hutchinson isn’t still around to tell his stories
Wonderful story from a fishing legend - thanks for posting😀🎣
Chris's map shows the ghost, but I've only heard of his account in passing. Others claim to have heard strange things at Redmire, it would be good to hear Chris's own account.
This guy can tell a story. The detail is fascinating
Fantastic stuff - with the best teller of fishing tales in the land 🎣 Thank you 🙏
Brilliant video. That’s all there is to say ❤
Fantastic video of a carp fishing legend! Thanks for sharing! 🙏
Speaking as a historian and obsessive angler, these films are absolutely priceless. Superb!
Great moment in angling history
Wonderful storytelling
A passion for angling made me start fishing again in my early teens fishing has been my saviour in some very desperate times in my life i cant thank Chris and bob enough for that wonderful series maybe its been equaled by catching the impossible but its unbeatable to me❤
The best fishing series ever 😊😊
