There's hard-core carp anglers, and the there's Ben Mir. I carp fished around the Scottish Borders for around 10 years, and the weather alone is enough to put most off. Nothing is colder than a gale force Easterly that's come straight off the North Sea. Top film and an absolute legend!

In the early 1980 s we put a dustbin full of small carp commons , mirrors in we were pike fishing at the time ,,,Ben fishing it since 1976😊

Was about to go to sleep then saw the title of the video. Safe to say I’ve just finished the whole thing. Fished castle loch with my old man as a kid for pike. Incredible to think fish like that are in there. Incredible proper hardcore angling that! 👏

Absolutely excellent little film, a carp angling pal of mine used to bream fish this venue, before he got into carp fishing, we’re from the north east of England, ( and he was actually the official bream record holder ) Scottish record, caught from castle Loch ! he used to talk about the carp in there and what it was like hooking one accidentally on the bream tackle ( always snapped you up or got away) but bream wise he was the boyo for a few years. Nowadays he’s a successful carp angler. 💯🔥
What a lovely geezer, that is one hell of a bit of angling, to have these captures in Scotland is no easy task and I should think very few people will ever accomplish these kind of results, brilliant video and I hope to see more of this man in the future 💪👊

Mega stuff. Awesome lakes around there, I used to pike fish them as a lad and remember hearing the carp rumours from castle loch in the mid 90s

Great video. Looks like Scotland could do with someone dropping in a few mirrors !
Those armour plated old commons just seem to last so much longer with the otters. It seems the mirrors are much easier for the otters to grab hold of

Great video, I fished Castle Loch back in the 90s after Bream remember talking to people, how said you see the odd carp on top in summer but no body fishes for them. Such a shame the massive head of Bream has been all but wiped out, sure the lake still holds Scottish Bream record.
An amazing venue, Callum did have the Scottish record bream this year from Castle!
Did you ever catch the tench or bream ,while after the carp ,,we used to hook carp after the bream biggest 23 lb common ,but hooked into some larger ones but never banked them on bream tackle 😮
The bream are seldom gone now however young Callum did bag the record from there recently. The tench are still knocking about though!
