Brings back many happy memories of matches fished there in days gone by and Ian's filming certainly brings out the beauty of the place. Pegged next to Nigel Spencer on a number of occasions and to see him consistently hit almost a hundred yards with a swingtip rod rod was totally awesome.
i watch alot of fishing videos but james really is the most enjoyable to watch he's always got a big smile on his face and iv'e never seen anyone bag canal bream like james does kudos to the man, i also enjoy the videos with alan in my native north west. cheers guys keep it up
Fished this heavily for roach, perch and pike back around the late 90's to early 2000's. The happiest days ! Used to get a lot of Ruff that were a nuisance at times There were not so many bream or hybrids back then. Best Roach I ever had was 1lb 13oz on a worm with a chopped worm groundbait when after better perch... Love the video Best wishes
Terrific fishing James & Nigel, me and my child hood fishing partner Neil have been fishing it for 30yrs . Used to be just roach but then the bream turned up and then unfortunately the crayfish but hopefully they will die off and it can get back to normal...... 👍
FANTASTIC!! Another brilliant episode, top presenting and glorious scenery well highlighted by the camera crew, looks full of fish and It's another place to add to the bucket list!
at lAST A VIDEO WITH THE PROVERBIAL XXXXXIT WAS HOOKED SO TO SPEAK ,EXCUSE THE PUN EASY ON THE EAR BUT VERY INFORMATIVE , AS FOR THE SWING TIP , PERFECTION , SLDER AND SWING TIP BRILLIANT METHODS MANY THANKS TO YOU BOTH
Well done Cadence, yet another fantastic video. Two great fisherman showing us how it should be done. Any chance that you'll make a dedicated swing tip rod some time or perhaps making a tip for swing tipping. Tight lines
Nigel's secret method on foulridge res was three pinkies on an eighteens and to hit every tiny touch ,plus the rubber tubing on he's swing tip was he's key. If you couldn't hit 100yrds same spot with your feed he'd do you every time.
I know that the great invention feeder is made in UK. But the first champion is Oleskii Strashnyi, Ukraine, 2 points, 19.825kg total ! Im takes pride in ukrainian success and always respect UK anglers the most skilful in the world!
Fished Ken last year for the first time , the cray fish were stripping our dead bait like crazy , when reeling them back in it looked like something from a cartoon it was just a skeleton. After about 4 hours of our dead bait being stripped we basically gave up and put a rod out with maggot again the feeders were being emptied as quick as they were going out so another change of tactics was needed… out came the soft baits and lures as they were constantly moving they were the only thing not being taken by the cray… safe to say I doubt I would go back unless we hired a boat
Hi Dunc, we use the Fuji Alconite size 5 guides on the tips (BLAG). We use them with braid and shock leaders with no problem. I was using an 8lb mojo shock leader in the video. Cheers James
Great vid lads but can.i ask which side this was on...was it in one of the bays on the silver birch side as it is known or the other side as im fishing it with a friend next month .i love it up there not been for a few years. I usually stay in new gallaway in the kenmore arms
Probably too late now but the bit they fished was called "Robins". It is on the West Bank (New Galloway Side) and is just before the big house as you head to the silver birch from New Galloway. There is a layby on the right hand side of the road or if it's quiet you'll get parked on the left hand side near the access point.
There was a guy who used to fish matches on Loch Ken, and he used to have a catapult made out of an old crutch and some surgical elastic I think. Could easy hit 100m.
I have a catapult exactly like it that my grandad passed on to me called "The Whopper Dropper" I can whack good tangerine sized balls for bloody miles with it! 😁

The look on James's face when Alan explains about the black widow elastic (ball bearings and cats) cracks me up every time I watch this video.

Monty chewing feeder on the other rod :D :D :D
naughty
What on earth does that mean? Correspond using the English language please.
This catapult is the biggest one i ever saw. Unbelievable! Greetings and great video again.

Sergey Kartashov yes, but this is the UK. Not Ukraine

Certainly a nightmare 😞
Great video , thoroughly enjoyed it ! I'm in need of a reel for this kind of fishing could you tell me which you are using please?
Thank James - I like to fish braid with a mono shock leader. What is the internal diameter of the tip rings please?
Hi Dunc, we use the Fuji Alconite size 5 guides on the tips (BLAG). We use them with braid and shock leaders with no problem. I was using an 8lb mojo shock leader in the video. Cheers James
Great Video , used too listen in awe about the place when I was younger when all the " owd uns" came back. COYWM
oggybwfc1 but will bwfc survive?
hope so, I will still be there if they don't. if they ceased too exist/ I wouldn't even watch football.

Hi which groundbait do you prefer on the ken , sweet ,fishmeal or sweet fishmeal or others cheers Rob
It looks a bit daunting to fish but i would love to spend a few days fishing here.
Brilliant, thanks

Mike Shaw where about is the access point looking on google maps can’t find it?

I don't think so.
@@z0770z Thinking hard for you Allan.
Will those very nice cadence jackets be available ? Great variety from this Chanel too, keep it up!
David Haigh thanks David. The clothing is made to order via Halkon Hunt.
Just curious, I'm not a match fisherman. Why set up in the water ??
Cameron Staatz gives a little extra reach but also with shallow water margins it allows the keepnet to be placed in deeper water
Awesome 🖒
Great local water
I have a catapult exactly like it that my grandad passed on to me called "The Whopper Dropper" I can whack good tangerine sized balls for bloody miles with it! 😁
there is also huge perch because of the red signal cray fish
Great for crayfish
6:35 pike in the edge
Could introduce perch . they are learning to eat the crayfish , tail first : )
It's full of perch
Beauty ..
I fished it quite a few years ago, never had any great success, probably fished the wrong area. Easily done on an area like that.
the dog is fantastic hahahahah

Sergey Kartashov loch in Scotland, lake in England, Lough in Ireland
