    Brings back many happy memories of matches fished there in days gone by and Ian's filming certainly brings out the beauty of the place. Pegged next to Nigel Spencer on a number of occasions and to see him consistently hit almost a hundred yards with a swingtip rod rod was totally awesome.

    Fished this heavily for roach, perch and pike back around the late 90's to early 2000's. The happiest days ! Used to get a lot of Ruff that were a nuisance at times There were not so many bream or hybrids back then. Best Roach I ever had was 1lb 13oz on a worm with a chopped worm groundbait when after better perch... Love the video Best wishes

    Terrific fishing James & Nigel, me and my child hood fishing partner Neil have been fishing it for 30yrs . Used to be just roach but then the bream turned up and then unfortunately the crayfish but hopefully they will die off and it can get back to normal...... 👍

    Nigel's secret method on foulridge res was three pinkies on an eighteens and to hit every tiny touch ,plus the rubber tubing on he's swing tip was he's key. If you couldn't hit 100yrds same spot with your feed he'd do you every time.

    Fished Ken last year for the first time , the cray fish were stripping our dead bait like crazy , when reeling them back in it looked like something from a cartoon it was just a skeleton. After about 4 hours of our dead bait being stripped we basically gave up and put a rod out with maggot again the feeders were being emptied as quick as they were going out so another change of tactics was needed… out came the soft baits and lures as they were constantly moving they were the only thing not being taken by the cray… safe to say I doubt I would go back unless we hired a boat

    • @cadencefishinguk
      @cadencefishinguk  6 лет назад

      Hi Dunc, we use the Fuji Alconite size 5 guides on the tips (BLAG). We use them with braid and shock leaders with no problem. I was using an 8lb mojo shock leader in the video. Cheers James

    Great vid lads but can.i ask which side this was on...was it in one of the bays on the silver birch side as it is known or the other side as im fishing it with a friend next month .i love it up there not been for a few years. I usually stay in new gallaway in the kenmore arms

    • @cadencefishinguk

      Neil Gorman it's on the A762 side

    • @mikeshaw714
      @mikeshaw714 6 лет назад

      Probably too late now but the bit they fished was called "Robins". It is on the West Bank (New Galloway Side) and is just before the big house as you head to the silver birch from New Galloway. There is a layby on the right hand side of the road or if it's quiet you'll get parked on the left hand side near the access point.

    There was a guy who used to fish matches on Loch Ken, and he used to have a catapult made out of an old crutch and some surgical elastic I think. Could easy hit 100m.

    • @cadencefishinguk

      Cameron Staatz gives a little extra reach but also with shallow water margins it allows the keepnet to be placed in deeper water
