Great video.I am not a good diy person but managed to help an elderly neighbour secure her door by replacing her lock at cost of £9.Could not have done this without your help,BRILLIANT
Thanks for this. Had a lock Smith come out and tell me he would need to remove the entire metal strip (middle) at a cost of @£100 to replace my lock. (That guy part of a glazing company has also lost my whole house window replacement deal) Saw this video and did it by myself on 5 mins.
So many times I look for guides on youtube on how to do something, and I end up with someone talking too techy / camera work not showing what needs to be showed etc etc This was a perfect job for something that was about to cost me a lot of money. Thank you!
Great video! I was a bit worried about changing the locks but after watching this I went straight out and bought a new lock. I changed mine in about 2 minutes!
Thank you for sharing this. You explained it perfectly, very steadily, and including every bit of required detail. A clearly shot video with no distracting music in the background. Very professional. Much appreciated, Martin (South Yorkshire)
Thank you so much! Perhaps the only video which shows how to properly get the dimensions and get the cylinder instead of taking it apart and rushing to the vendor with a physical sample.
Thanks for the video. I read how to do it on a website but they made it sound complicated so was considering getting a locksmith until I saw your video. I wipped the cylinder out in under a minute. Thanks again.
Thankyou !!!! Woman living alone with child here. Ex partner refuses to give keys back and maybe even had them cut. I didn't want the embarrassment of police involvement so little me watched this video went to screwfix and sorted it successfully myself. Thankyou !!!!!!!
Thank you for this video. It saved us calling out a locksmith. I didn't realise before that it would be such an easy job made straightforward by your instructions.
You are a legend mate because you video finally explains to me the sizing, like what does 45/55 mean. So easy to remove and install. Will be changing both my front and garden cylinder. Cheers.
Very informative video. Saved me getting a locksmith out. My old barrel was worn out and luckily I had 2 spare barrels in my toolbox from a lock change I did years ago. Done in 5 minutes. Many thanks...Mark. 👍
Brilliant video. My key has just jammed in my lock cylinder and now snapped off. Watching that.....well a sigh of relief. Thinking I'd have to get a locksmith. Thank you. 🙏
Thank you very much for this, was extremely helpful. Just measured my door locks and going to change them myself thanks to you :) - Will order them from your shop for your efforts!
Thank you for your fab tutorial, I can't get a snapped key out..tapping the indoor key into the barrel..has made the key not locking Properly...so hopefully I may get a new barrel from b&q hopefully this will solve the issue...thank you again you have been really helpful.
Thank you for this video. Couldn't figure out why the barrel wouldn't come out and it needs to locked (its a bit fiddly). Tip from my lock provider is to ensure the barrel is flush with the lock/handle cover - that way the would be thieves cant so easily get a grip of the loch to snap it. Also, mine was in its own cage so the handles needed to come off.
Great Video, my fixing bolt (that screws into from the side to secure the barrell) goes into the door frame should I just find a longer screw and cut it down to size, Im not sure if something has been lost from the inside
Most fixings bolts will cut down. As long as the euro cylinder feels secure in the door when screwed in, this will be fine. It dosn't need to be too long. LKS Team .
I've got one where it appears that the handle also needs to be removed. Some sort of inter locking mechanism. Have you got any videos on the sequence I would need to follow to replace the euro cylinder on that type of door. Can't seem to find anyone doing a RUclips video on that
Nice video .. my conservatory door when I put the key in I can't turn the key around full to open it ,it's like I turn have to pull the key out a little then turn its not easy as I'm guessing how much to pull the key out also I noticed the handle has a space in it ... come away from the other part not sure how to explain better either out a pic .. do I need the lock and handle ?
I got a replacement lock recently it was the right size but either side of the middle of the cylinder it had a small metal bobble sticking out not one my other lock and so it would not fit in the round hole and so I had to take it back so be aware of this
I have just got two new 3* cylinders for our doors, however, there are two `lugs` either side and near the cam, and these stop the cylinder going through.Have I bought the wrong ones or can these lugs be filed off - what do they do??
Just replaced my lock with an anti snap euro cylinder, even though I measured it, the handles sit too proud now of the lock externally. Is this a problem? I know if the lock sticks out too far it can be snapped but what are the potential problems for one that sits 3mm or so too short? I suppose a screwdriver could be used to pry the handle off but still it wouldn't make much difference as the new lock is anti snap. Do I need to buy another handle or another lock?
As long as the euro cylinder is as flush to the door as possible, this wont matter and will still function normally. The thumbturn should ALWAYS be on the inside! LKS Team.
If you key is snapped off in your lock use a small watch screwdriver and turn until you can release your barrel in effect you still have your key! It takes a while be patient👍
Could you use that exact same cylinder for a door where the lock faces the RIGHT SIDE of the door frame? what i mean is, does the orientation of the cam matter? Here the cam is on the oposite side of de door frame (right from the cylinder if you look at it from the front), but if you put it on a door with the lock to the right, the cam would be between the cylinder and the door frame. Does that affect anything? thanks
Hello, I have the same door etc. Only thing is once I remove that long screw for the barrel and I turn the key to loosen it up to be pulled out, the barrel is solid as anything and does not come out. I have turnt the key in so many directions and the barrel is solid
www.lockandkeyshop.co.uk I have removed the handles the barrel is still solid asif there is another screw holding it in. If I took a picture and showed you would you no then ?
Chris Johnstone I contacted the company "wink haus" who manufacture the lock, they sent me a diagram showing how to install this lock so I just have to do it backwards to remove the lock. If you have a email I can forward you the diagram
With our lock a key cannot be fully inserted from the outside when a key is inserted on the inside. If someone left their key in the door then you're locked out. Can I change my cylinder for one which doesn't have this problem?
I have a problem my old lock is jammed so I cannot open the door. It was very stiff to lock and unlock for a few weeks before it became unlockable. How do I sort this?
Why can't all 'how to' videos be as clear & concise as this.. Perfect sir.

I want to say thanks a million. Key broke got cylinder out and tapped it on the floor broken key out. Saved almost 100 euro.
Thank you so much! Perhaps the only video which shows how to properly get the dimensions and get the cylinder instead of taking it apart and rushing to the vendor with a physical sample.
After 8 year of uploading this video I checked and changed cylinder lock ❤
Thanks

Do you have a video on how to change the handle please (where the new lock centre measurement is slightly different)?? Thanks

Thank You so Much for Showing this. You are Class.
My Euro cylinder had two screws holding it in place, an alan key screw alongside a philips screw.
Unbelievable how easy it is to change a barrel lock but didn’t know you had to measure to make sure it fits properly
does it matter whether shorter/longer side needs to be pointing inside/outside the house, or inserting either way ok?
As long as the euro cylinder is as flush to the door as possible, this wont matter and will still function normally. The thumbturn should ALWAYS be on the inside! LKS Team.
Great vid mate. Cheers
how about key is lost and lock inside the door is not in flash(straight) position ? thnks
God, brilliant, what am I doing being a brain surgeon, I'm now all retrained as a locksmith, Thanks, ps great video
Knowledge is Power !-thank you
Good video 👍🏼 thanks
Does it matter if the cylinder is slightly too small in length? Thank you in advance any reply much appreciated
If you key is snapped off in your lock use a small watch screwdriver and turn until you can release your barrel in effect you still have your key! It takes a while be patient👍
excellent tutorial.

Thank you very much, I appreciate!
Is this the exact same for Yale locks in upvc doors. I'm tempted to do this as it looks so simple but always end up getting it wrong :(
so you don't have to remove the handles!? Some of the online videos ask you to do this?
Hello, I have the same door etc. Only thing is once I remove that long screw for the barrel and I turn the key to loosen it up to be pulled out, the barrel is solid as anything and does not come out. I have turnt the key in so many directions and the barrel is solid
Hi, this can sometimes happen, we would suggest removing the handles, this usually free's everything up to remove the barrel.
www.lockandkeyshop.co.uk
I have removed the handles the barrel is still solid asif there is another screw holding it in. If I took a picture and showed you would you no then ?
Lord Kennedy same problem. did u manage to get it out? if so. how ?

Lord Kennedy chrisjay09@live.co.uk
what to do if the sylinder isnot shifting? It is old, Mila brand I think. Was it just fitted very tightly??
Try to flood it with WD40 and this may loosen it up . Good luck!

can i replace it without the key? i have lost the keys but the door is open
Nicely done.
Thank you! Cheers!
How do you remove if a key is snapped within the lock?
Great help thanks
I have a problem my old lock is jammed so I cannot open the door. It was very stiff to lock and unlock for a few weeks before it became unlockable. How do I sort this?
What if you don’t have the key so can’t put it in the locked position? Thanks
