(PS: I actually want Alina to regret killing Darkling after 1000 years or something, but not likely to happen with how short-term the story go)

Bruh acts like Alina can’t start over with someone else that isn’t him once Mal passes. It’ll be emotional difficult in the long run to meet, fall in love, marry, have a life, then watch that life slip away, but like I’m sure it’s far less difficult than being with you.

Seriously, think about it in ep1 Grisha with different magical powers didn't kill a single Volcra but then we have the crows killing volcras with knives, guns, a cane.We have Ivan and Fedyor not sensing Kaz's lie but then with the conductor Ivan could sense lies easily 😕 Milo suddenly is in the military camp and conveniently near Mal with the bullet in its necklace, mal used that bullet to free himself but the guard decided to not get up and check up the sound's source 😑. Alina after ep5 is kinda two-faced (blaming Aleksander for her friends' death while she was the one who caused it, saying that the king deserved every bit of Genya's revenge but then goes to blame Kirigan for wanting to overthrow the same king, guilt-tripping Genya). The show was good until it wasn't anymore. It went down hell.

Darkling was beating him badly without even using his powers but in the end luck was his side when volcras arrived. Have you read the books yet? It tells you in the third book. Spoilers : Mal is an amplifier like the darkling but not a shadow summoner and Mal is a nephew to Alexander/ the Darkling. The darkling's mother has a sister who gave birth to a child who later that child gave birth to a son who is Mal.

I don’t think it’s a romanisation of self harm - the pain the cut causes isn’t due to poor mental health or an unhealthy coping habit, rather to prevent someone separating her from the only family Alina has ever had. It could be argued the show still uses harming oneself as a plot device but, the contextual reason for it is important
