    I'm still mad at y'all tried to play Iverson like he was a thug so you change the dress code

    •  5 лет назад +2

      Blackball God IT DOESNT MATTER Brother dress code hip hop the pimp walk our slang none it can be dressed down an all the NBA did was try to make something unforbidden just that much sexier so they accomplished while trying to appease the usual white bigoted racist implicit bias white people absolutely nothing but draw more people to our BLACKNESS ya dig !!

    • @MalikEmmanuel
      @MalikEmmanuel 5 лет назад +7

      I don't think that it mattered whether the league thought Iverson was a thug or not, what mattered was that the financial model was shifting and the NBA was on top of it. Gate attendance was being leveraged into television contracts which leveraged fan engagement into corporate partnerships at the highest level and ironically that marginalized the fan. So, while Iverson was beloved by the fans he was the face of a culture that was jeopardizing the bottom line of the NBA. So they put a more palatable face on it.
      The NBA and its players act as partners, in so far as they act together to increase league revenues. This was primarily a way to get everyone paid more: ownership, corporate management, players...the whole league bought in and continues to profit off of it.

      *magic _* well this is just my opinion just want to start with that! But I thinks it’s because at the time the then New Orleans Hornets has no ownership so they were controlled by the NBA (David stern) and he wanted them to have a better opportunity in the future. The trade with Chris to the Lakers would have made it a two team league essentially with Miami having their big 3. I feel as though Stern saw that a trade to the little brother team Clippers with a young Blake griffin and DJ would be more of a money grabber for executives and the league itself. So pretty much money and advertising came down to it.

I’m glad that he at least gives credit to the way that players use their platform now. He did good things, but he also did bad things, most likely motivated by racism. In today’s America, it unfortunately is what it is until the entire system changes.

    This man was a genius. May he Rest In Peace. He was a very clever businessman and was able to grow the league to where it is today. Yeah, some players still feel they are underpaid and have gripes, this is common for most employees that work for someone. These players now are making millions of dollars for running up and down the court. Doctors were making more than NBA players in the 80’s! My uncle played five years in the league, quit and went to law school. Lol. Let’s give David Stern his flowers 💐
