    Adam Silver ARGUABLY, IS A PRIME EXAMPLE of the type of guy you want as a commissioner. I’m NOT saying he’s perfect but he looks out for the players. He banned a racist owner named Donald Sterling for life. THAT IS HOW YOU HANDLE BUSINESS. You know that wouldn’t happen in the NHL and NFL. We all know that the NFL, and NHL are savage. All the NFL cares about is the next dollar. That’s why they got nailed with that concussion settlement. Once a player gets released, the NFL treats the player like they never existed. People that I’ve met that played in the NFL told me that. The NHL isn’t much better with players losing teeth and the fist fights that go on there. The MLB has a steroid problem but I think that’s more under control now. That MLB Commissioner Mr. Manfred Jr. seems to be alright. You don’t hear much negativity since he replaced Bud Selig.

    I love the 65 game rule. It’s one of those things that later in the future, we will learn to appreciate. The issue is that players are getting paid life changing F.U money to have a reduced role in their respective teams. And I think as a business owner, that’s the best thing you can ask for, your people to show up to work. They’re asking to show up at least 80% of the time. Any other job, showing up less, regardless of how valuable you are, you’ll be fired.

    The NBA should allow all weekend, regular season games to be free as well as the Allstar weekend and nba finals. That would really help them continue to grow while still getting subscriptions from fans who want to see every game, games in other markets, etc. Because we don't see as many free games, there is a lot less hometown loyalty and therefore less people going to games in markets that aren't championship contenders.

    Vegas will get a team in the next 2 years. Problem is that the casinos want all the action to be on the strip (for obvious reasons) which causes all sorts of traffic issues. I hope the NBA arena gets built a little away from the strip so that area can breathe a bit. Stadiums for Raiders, Golden Knights, A's (in the future) are all within a mile radius. Add an NBA team stadium and its a total disaster..

    • @swissfan100

    Really cool just listening to him talk about all the things, smart dude & very well spoken.
    I will say this, I think they need to modify the 65-game thing to include an independent/NBA commissioned doctor review when someone is actually INJURED, and those games should not count against their eligibility for the length the doctor says. Halliburton is a great example of why that should be the case. Maybe even to counteract that a bit, raise the number to a minimum of 70 games played to be eligible & the only exceptions would be for injury terms.
    Example of why I feel that way: If someone that's having a truly great season and is pretty much guaranteed All-NBA etc, and then they go out for 4 weeks with something serious, they shouldn't be all but guaranteed to be excluded from awards because of that, is my perspective on that.

    Adam, you touched on it but you could never admit it publicly. NFL has every game as a stand alone event... They are all meaningful.
    NBA has diluted the basketball product so thinly that no one game has any meaning at all. Even the finals are "meh, we lost but we still have several more chances to progress".
    There is no tweak to fix this utterly broken format born from overwhelming greed. There are solutions but none of them are easy or subtle.
    One idea stands out to me as able satisfy all parties and keep the absurd amount of games roughly similar....
    16 teams each conference play home and away against each other = 30 games each. Finals are top 8 seeded ONE GAME ONLY. Until the champions of each conference play each other and then you can have best of whatever. This is your summer league... rinse and repeat again for your winter league. 2 season per calendar year.
    Every game is meaningful and there are ways to create intrigue and dynamism not available in the current format. Like... mixing the conferences between seasons. eg... top 8 from each conference in summer becomes the "american conference" in winter. Bottom eight from each conference in summer become the "National conference" in winter. This mixes up the competition in a merit based competitive way and gives lower teams a realistic chance to progress into finals in the short term.
    Everyone would hate it at first until 3 or four seasons in when it all makes sense and nobody would have it any other way.

      @reclusedoggo3513 11 месяцев назад +1

      Yea, you are right in sense as a fan, but i think in terms of revenue the amount of matches lowered would actually destroy the league since this basketball league works more on frequency of matches and amount of it compared to nfl. Also, with nfl vs nba there's mor differences than just one match or so, nfl is America's sports American game but if you look at basketball it has become non american and it has too many variables compared to nfl. Again i went on a tangent but i am pretty sure nba and mlb even to a large extent survives on the basis of frequency of matches

    • @warpeace8891
      @warpeace8891 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@reclusedoggo3513 - Thanks for your feedback. To me, I find it hypocritical for the NBA leadership to publicly applaud another sport for what they are doing right while doing the exact opposite in the sport they are making decisions about. Furthermore, they are not even looking to make adjustments or changes to improve these fundamental flaws. To cap it off, the problems come as a direct result of overwhelming greed that has backfired enormously.
      The exact reasons Adam praises the NFL for is totally ignored in the NBA. A very small number of fans watche every single game their team plays in contrast to the NFL where most fans don't want to miss any of their teams games and are hungry for more so they often watch other games of interest. The numbers are overwhelming and conclusive. 202 million people Just in the US. Probably a larger number outside the US. All for ONE game. The NBA are well short of that for their whole season.
      They can't say "the fans are the priority" or "its all about the fans" and then focus all their attention on maximizing revenue at the cost of fan access, fan engagement, appreciation of the product AND get away with those lies. I notice the lies every time they speak and I don't accept it as ok. Don't you?
      In the coming years most people will be priced out of the product because they chase short term revenue at all costs. We have already seen this get worse by the year in all areas of life that corporation control. It is not going to get any better without pushback from the people.

So, nothing really special there. But JJ Redick had a great point on the super-max rule..that is nonsense and needs to change..
