What Makes a Great Basketball Player? | LeBron James & JJ Redick | Full Episode

- Опубликовано: 18 мар 2024
- Welcome to the first episode of Mind the Game with LeBron James and JJ Redick. We are really excited to share this podcast where we examine and celebrate the game of basketball. In this first episode we ask ourselves a very simple question, "What makes a great basketball player?" That question launches us into discussions about the The Los Lakers recent comeback win against the Los Angeles Clippers, philosophical questions about basketball IQ and we dive into concepts like "Thumb Down" and "Floppy" and "Horns Chest." We also talk about this year's leap of Jayson Tatum and The Boston Celtics and what makes them so dangerous. And finally, we dive into the influence of Stephen Curry.
We really hope you enjoy our show. Be sure to subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. And if you'd like to see some of the visuals referenced in this episode, please subscribe to Mind the Game on RUclips at / @mindthegame

This is EXACTLY the kind of basketball content we've all been craving.
I swear it is. I was so excited to watch when I read these comments
Jordan after losing to the Pistons in 89 playoffs: "They were the better team and they played better today."
Kobe after losing to the Spurs in 03 playoffs: "We can make a million excuses, but the fact is we are not going to make it. Later saying, I will push myself to exhaustion"
LeBalco talking with JJ Redick on why he lost in the 2011 finals against the MAVS: "We didn't have enough complementary pieces, we had a lot of bare minimum guys"
You know what is also refreshing? Guys in the comment section instead of arguing just appreciating the game of basketball.
Wish there was more discussion of the actual episode instead of mostly “man this is so much better than the garbage at ESPN or MVP arguments!”
@@amazing2157channelwe’ll get there as time moves
Wish we had some more discussion here about whether MJ or LeBron is the goat. Did you know that MJ is 6-0 in the NBA Finals, winning FMVP for all six?
Yeah, the community has become very toxic full of kids badmouthing everyone and everything while not understanding nor appreciating the game. It's almost pointless to go into any comment section on NBA related posts. I believe most fans only care about the game and couldn't care less about the drama, while the ones messing everything for the rest of us are really just a loud minority

Guys on ESPN or Fox dont know ball like this. Instead they will bring up the GOAT debate 100 times. This stuff is refreshing man
I think you're exactly right, they don't know so they don't talk about it
Great interview. These are the shows that need to be on ESPN and promoted so the young players hear what it takes and the commitment it takes to get to where they want to be and never being comfortable. Can't wait to see who else JJ brings on.
As a basketball fan who never played organized basketball, a pure watcher, a really appreciate all of the play descriptions and breakdowns
Bruh everyone in the podcast world just paused and realised a new king has entered the game

@@abrahamvillanueva2048 damn u only got to listen yeah and um...u are a certified hater...all those basketball talk by Bron and bro heard yeah and um... crazy...
We have been missing this type of media since Kobe’s “Detail”. Real basketball heads appreciate this!!!
ESPN did Kobe so dirty by hiding Detail behind a paywall, save for the occasional clip. I get that they wanted to sell ESPN+ subscriptions but the show would've grown so much more had they just posted the series on YT from the go.
@@albericponcedeleon2696low iq , they don’t know how to adjust . They do what’s always worked

Basketball is literally “ Poetry In Motion “ I can’t stress enough how much I appreciate this 🔥🔥🔥
really high quality; excellent topics, educational conversation, and great production
As a 70-year-old native of Indianapolis, I followed the Big O's career closely, and I never knew before this morning that he was the Curt Flood of basketball. Kudos to JJ for that nugget.
I just saw a local report on how he, and the Attucks team, didnt even get to celebrate on the Circle like other champions did. He certainly went through a lot, and didnt deserve it at all. Great player and man.

The only natives of america are the Indians.
@@IndyColts317 Fun fact: Richard Lugar, the late Senator and mayor of Indianapolis, desegregated Crispus Attucks in 1971 (!)--by sending his own children to the school. I am a Democrat, but I voted for that guy every time he ran for office until I moved out of state.
I cannot emphasize enough how much this type of podcast is appreciated and needed, as someone who's fairly new to basketball (3 years) but wants to learn more and more every day, a 40 minutes podcast with visual representation is the best thing that could have ever happened, there needs to be more content like this
this is the exact kind of show we have been missing! Thank you for bringing this to us JJ and Lebron!!
man this is the type of stuff we need in today's sports. JJ is super sharp, and having Lebron take part of this is just special, when can you hear from one of the best to ever do the sport break down the game like this and it not be watered down.
Podcast community…Nobody copy this format… this is one of a kind
yep, nobody copy the format of 2 dudes sitting across from each other talking, rare stuff
@@dayman0harryit’s LeBron James’ formula, never have a dude sit across from another dude and do a podcast never, never been done!
Talking high level basketball not just talking.. ignorant comment
@@dayman0harry😅😅😅
Lebron James and another elite nba player and reporter in reddick, talking about just the nba and not hot topics, this WONT be recreated even if they tried
