UPDATE!!! This new one failed already after about a year and 22k miles. the part in the video is made by Suspensia. I got it at rock auto. Looks like I am replacing it again with OEM!
I replaced my left from twice now. The first time I used an OEM one and I only got about 30k out of it if that. My car has 141k on it (2013) and I'm just now replacing the passenger control arm and all the tierods. I'm surprised that the tierods are in as good of shape as they are on passenger side but I'm going through it all so it's safe for my daughter to drive. Just did loaded struts and shocks by Sensen. They seem ok but we will see.
@@luvthesnow the ball joint itself started rattling again. It was loosening up inside the socket when I replaced it. The OEM part I put on is going strong now.
You have a great video I struggle with mine around three hours Things to do first remove three bolts which ties the knuckle to the body Then remove outer tie rod and hang it to spring Remove the bolt which holds ball joint Pull the knuckle and set free the control arm from body Pull and push the control arm to under the body Now to set free the ball joint you can hammer it and its gone For re assemble put the new control arm to body position !!!!!! Put middle mount bolt first (biggest one)!!!! You will thank me later Then put 2 other bolts which hold the body Then put the ball joint to place (take your time and be careful) Then put ball joint bolts and tie rod nut Don’t forget to torquing specs
@@sergi023509I guess I mean the part that the tapered portion of the ball joint inserts into the the par that swivels and holds the wheel bearing. Yeah I think that’s the steering knuckle
Spot on about putting 21mm bolt in first. I bought the moog parts. IMO I think to save urself headache and fight replace the sway bar clamps and bolts. After fighting that first 18mm one I just cut them and replaced them only you have to get the parts from ford. Thanks for excellent video!
Congratulations my friend, perfect job, it's the first time I see someone working with such lightness and technique. I'm researching a lot about the Ford Fusion, I intend to buy a model identical to the one you repaired, I think it's a very beautiful and comfortable car. Thank you very much for sharing with us your knowledge and greetings from Brazil !!!
Be careful trying pry open the tabs that hold the ball joint in. I broke one off being impatient and had to change the the whole steering knuckle too! 🤦🏻♂️ 🤯 Now I definitely know the right way to do it .
Doing mine. When my bolt got stuck I started using a heat gun on the cracked rubber did that on and off for a few minutes trying to turn it with a 30in breaker bar 1/2 in
Great video Man, I just wondering the symptoms you where having with the car that let you know it’s control arms?? I feel on the express way when the car rising seems to want to pull to the left. Any idea I have a 2015!! Thanks
Pinned by Keep It Simple Idea Guy @keepitsimpleideaguy8676 any idea what the part numbers are on the 2 rear bolts that hold the control arm as well as the sway bar mount? Mine were all corroded from michigan winters (thank god they didn't break but I definitely do not want to re-use the 4 bolts.
use nickel anti seize on the threads, and bolt shanks.. them after all pit together,, hit is with some rust, oill paint,, this will keep the rust from forming in your neck of the woods..good practice anywhere, thro
Maybe because it’s broken off at the black part the one that’s held by three bolts and can’t rotate off when I took it off the front bolt . But can’t get it off at the midway point . I’m texting my professional mechanic friend but he’s busy . I’m banging on it with hammer but still won’t come out. Any other ideas?
Dude thank you sooooooo much for the video, do you know how much my local Ford wanted to charge my wife and I for just one control arm replacement for driver side...$500 and I said F that I'll RUclips it and save me the money... thank you soooooooo much bro, I mean it.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😁😁😁🤜🏼🤛🏼
I'm watchhing this now to get ready to put on some Dorman's. We'll see how soon the bushings will last. Do you think spraying the bushings with silicone once in a while will help them last longer?
that white plastic is just shipping protection lol. alignment cannot change with ball joint replacement. Rock auto sells these cheap ebay chinese ones, but for more $$ . that’s all this is.
I got mine from Rockauto.com. You have to put in your exact vehicle information and it will bring you to several choices for quality vs price. I chose one middle of the road

What actually failed on the replacement arm? Rubber bushing(s) or the ball joint itself?

German torque spec good and tight or do you have the specs?
By knuckle do you mean the steering knuckle ?

I did see someone mention that it's a good idea to just have new bolts ready to put back in.

I’m currently stuck, if I put bolts in the angle is way off to get the ball joint in

My symptoms were just rattling. And eventually when I’d hit large bumps the steering would change just a tiny bit. But you could feel the difference

I wish this one was easy as your because the lower ball joints screw is not come out

This the same on 2019?
Sorry. I’m not familiar with the 2019 model.
Did you put The two smaller bolts on the black thing in last?

I'm thinking about using the Dormans as well. Did you have any issues installing them?
Hi, did you print nut plastic capsel (10:40) by yourself? Can you share stl file?
I took my cover off and left it off. Just the one under the engine.
I struggled with the ball joint for 2 hours.
Did you finally get it?
I've been struggling for the last 4 hours to get the ball joint free of the steering knuckle.. still not even budging.all other bolts are out.

Your control arm is steel? 🤔 all the one I saw are aluminum
Yep steel. The original was steel and Rockauto has (had) a steel one
my 17 mkz has aluminum ones
One very important question is do you know JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR?
