- My play through of the TT track on the original Ridge Racer on the Playstation 1 where I beat the Black Devil Car. To beat the Devil Car actually took quite a lot of practice. I've put in much faster times and not beaten it, so I'm sure there's a bit of luck involved. I think the first lap is irrelevant because I put in a terrible first lap on this run, seeing as he waits for you at the end of the 1st lap.
I never managed to beat the black car when I was younger so I'm pretty happy with this effort.
This is the first game I ever saw on the Playstation being a Sega fan back in the day I was really impressed. I remember being blown away from the step up from the 16 bit era. The music at the time seemed out of this world for a game too.
Gameplay is recorded using an Elgato game capture card on a genuine Playstation console (not emulation) with an original copy of the game I've had for years.
Settings are all default. I'm also using manual transmission.
Played for weeks to accomplish this like 20 years ago. Great memory 😀

In any game with a diablo GTR I always paint it black because of how hard it was to beat him

Definitely was hard to beat him. I memorized the course and other little things. Any little bump on the side and he would pass you.. first time I flew by him i was wondering why a black car was pulled over on the side like that. He came blazing from behind and passed me. I beat him after a few times got his car. Those were the days tho.. lol
I still remember the day I finally smoked that devil car, one of my proudest gaming achievements to this day near 22 years later. The adrenaline pumping in that final corner section and you are blocking him from getting past... What a game!
Imagine that you are so good that you taunt the other racer by overtaking them and then stopping at a random place just so you can overtake them again
I’m surprised no one is talking about the 360 drift you could do in this game, thats how i beat the black car.
Congrats, that's quite a feat. The devil was right behind you in the technical section, you hear the announcer callout, he must have rear-ended you a couple times without you knowing it. Swerving and blocking like crazy was the only I ever beat him.

I remember having this on playstation. I didnt like the in game music so i would take the disc out and put a cd in. I would listen to bands like the tea party or kyuss while racing. You could take the gane out and the game itself wouldnt stop. Thats why i loved playing it

Yeah basically he s at a dead stop when you pass him and begin the final lap. You can't lapse or kiss the rails because he's pretty much maxed out and nothing short of a flawless run will keep the advantage
So yeah, he s beatable he bumped my tail a couple times the last few turns, but he can easily pass you on a straightaway or if you kiss the walls

I beat him a couple of times but it takes patience and a prefect run to do it. Also when the announcer says "hey somebody's right on your tail" you know he's behind you so try block him. Sometimes it works
The only car that could only beat the Crianle car. I remember when I did I was on the edge of my seat when battling it because one slip and it passed you.

My brother and I beat the devil car as a kid. I did the drifting and paused the game so my brother could do the short bends. lol. Took us ages, but we did it!

It took me ages to beat Angel and Devil I used this car too no one in my family could beat them and I'm the youngest out of 5 god thus brought back some golden memories cheer mate

The devil car was way to fuckn fast for me to beat. As a 8yr old I'm like yooo fuck this game! Then I'll just watch the spice channel in frustration.
Try as I might, I could not beat the Extra High Level Track (my beat attempt got me like 3rd). It just seemed borderline impossible (even with the Yellow car).
Beating the Devil Car however was a lot more feasible. That mostly boils down to finding the racing line that blocks it from overtaking (you'll learn through trial and error everytime it does overtake).
Then I used the Devil car to crush the Extra High Level track once and for all xD
First time I saw that car, I thought it was a bug. Then I find out in an issue of Tips & Tricks it's a secret car you have to beat in order to use. A jet-black Lamborghini with stats off the charts... My strategy back then was to block the car's path by watching it with the rear camera view and keeping it behind me. Of course, all it took was for me to bump into anything, and it's gone!
I defeated the #13 with a 3'48 time never touched a wall or the #13 even once. I drifted around all the sharp corners. I don't understand the huge difference between our times...
Edit: Nevermind I found out the PAL version runs at 50Hz and not at 60Hz so lap times appear slower than NTSC versions XD
This would be the equivalent of a 3'10 time in NTSC with 60Hz!
Its simple, #13 has like 80 percent more speed than the car you tried to beat its time with, the white angel is the only car that is able to top #13's time. You should check the stats of each car and then compare it with #13's and white angels
I'm talking about the 3'20 time this guy got with the rt Ryukyu. Of course the #13 is much faster but im saying on the 50Hz version of Ridge Racer all the times are slower
This is original Ridge Racer isn't it? White Angel wasn't in RR until Revolution from memory.
@@stevieboymkii Ridge Racer Type 4 included a Hi-Spec version of Ridge Racer 1 on a separate disc with boosted graphics (60 fps and 480i resolution). This version had the White Angel available. So if you wanna play the original game again I recommend the Hi-Spec version strongly ;)

Being that thirteen is an unlucky number it would be the devil car.
Loved this game. Also loved cutting off the yellow car at the very start! Just to slow him right down!
I remember my friend let me borrow this for a weekend. i beat it in like 2 days. Literally from FRiday night to Sunday night

Yeah you unlock the car, I remember being underwhelmed by it though.... its definitely the best playable car but it ain't as OP as you think
Wait....how did you trigger 3 cars in the normal mode? i thought it only happens in the Extra mode
In case nobody got to you, or if you found it. If you beat the T.T. race, you can run the same race again.... Devil will be there.
Win the 4 normal mode races (you get a credits scene afterwards). The Devil car then shows up in both the normal T_T and the Extra T_T tracks. You can beat it in either track to unlock it.
