Great video. Are they strict with 23kg checked baggage. What about the carry on baggage weight How is the food in that Addis airport. Is it expensive
We didn’t experience issues with luggage due to my status with Star Alliance. We had standard size carry on luggage, so no issues there. The food actually good at Addis, but it was US airport prices.
Ethiopian airlines is the pried of Africa build by the African Good service, smooth flight, beautiful cabin crew, affordable price, good management, good food Ethiopia airline is the best airline in Africa 🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹
I’m glad to hear your love for Ethiopian Airlines. Are there things in your opinion that can improve upon to have the title “best airline” in Africa? What about other African airlines such as Air Marroc, SA, Rwanda Air, TAAG? Are they competitors?
No airline in the world is perfect. Even the Qatar, Emirates, and Singapore airlines fall short in some area and they work on improving.
Great review. I’m also flying from Dulles Washington to Togo in exactly 7 days. Hopefully I’ll be more lucky and it’ll go smoothly. I heard a lot of great things about Ethiopian so… fingers crossed
If you’re lucky you will be on their newer fleet. Safe travels and enjoy your trip!
Excellent, informative presentation!
Thank you 🙏 for the kind words.
I’m flying ET this Dec . How’s the weather ? Is it cold inside? Flying from IAD - ADD-CAM. And what about the luggage’s heard some bad reviews.
Nice flight review. Yes it is time for Ethiopian Airlines to retrofit the seats in the B777s and older B787s in both business and economy classes. It would also be great if Ethiopian introduces premium economy class.
Agreed 👍🏾
Good review, thanks
Thank you for your kind comment.
Nice review! Thanks for taking us along with you.
I want to comment on the aircraft used. Ethiopian Airline’s Boeing 777s generally don’t have the best interiors. ET should be thinking of retrofitting them with new seats, especially their business class with the horrible 2-3-2 configuration.
Their Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s have a much better and modern interior, at least from videos have seen. I haven’t flown them before.
Thank you for that information. Some day I may give them a chance and hopefully it will be an improvement to their fleet and ground service. On board service was great. Just the ground staff.
No Sir, I work for myself. I replied because I've been traveling with Ethiopian since 1980. I'm not saying every flight was great. What I'm saying is that the comments were unduly harsh.
To each his own. If the airline was consistent they would have given same experience to all of their customers. But my experience was documented and everything I talked about I showed it. So, it’s not like I’m making up things to criticize them for. It’s evidence of what we experienced at the time of the flight. No airline is perfect, but some own to their mistakes and make sure to make changes versus others relying on their bots to defend them.
Good video brother, heading to togo in a couple of days, was there good wifi? also, I have seen a.lot of people complain about the screens, was the whole plane having trouble with the screen?
Thank you for your comment. As far as the Wi-Fi goes, I didn’t use it on this flight, so I won’t be able to tell you about it. As for the screen, we had our fare share of issues on our row, but not sure about the rest of the people. This was definitely an old plane and hoping that they will retire or retrofit this one soon.
Have a great trip to Togo and hoping that your trip with ET will be an enjoyable experience.
Great video, your criticism is also good for the airline management to see their shortfalls.
Ethiopian is one of the top airlines in Africa and perhaps the world. However as you rightly pointed out they need to improve to compete with top airlines.
Thank you for your comment. I believe that Ethiopian Airlines has the potential to compete in the world. They are the biggest African airline and needs to appreciate comments from their travelers and especially from influencers that just want them to do better. With adding new fleets, improving their customer service, they will continue to lead Africa.
All this is not because of the airline its the configuration of the plane. The service food hospitality is what makes the flight experience. Ethiopians airlines is top notch.
8:40 1 hour prior to landing is awesome!! ❤❤
Agreed. Plenty of time to eat, freshen up before landing.
I've used ET airlines quite for long time and I love everything.
I’m glad you have had a positive experience with them.
Thanks for the comment!!
Their ground crew in IAD really need a deep change. A year ago I accompanied a disabled friend with a wheelchair, the crew asked $100 for the wheelchair even though disabled pple are not supposed to pay for it. The manager said it’s free but one of the ground crew insisted we had to pay with “cash” 🤷🏽. They really need to work on their ground crew
Wow. What a sad situation. If they are asking for cash, they are scamming. It amazes me that people will seek to capitalize off of the vulnerable.
Thanks for the input, the feedback referring to ground staff Dulles, Addis or both ? This may help EA.
Thank you for watching and for your comment. The ground staff experience has been subpar both in Dulles and Addis. In addition at other destinations. Not all are bad, but those that we interacted with were mostly rude.
@@ThePanzoAdventures yeah they need to step up. If you could tweet your video to them, I’m sure they will get your feedback.
EAL....
Hello this will be my first traveling with this airline in May. would you recommend it for a first time user.
I would recommend if it’s the cheapest and quickest option to your destination. If there are other reputable airlines, I will book with them. Another thing you could do is see if United Airlines sells tickets to fly with Ethiopian airlines with almost same price. The reason for that is that your customer support line will be with United, hence less headaches in case you need to make changes or your travel plans changes. Just don’t buy basic Economy ticket.
@@ThePanzoAdventures okay, thank you so much I’m going to Cameroon.
10:55 ground staff at check in are not ET employees but airport ground handling agents. ❤❤
While I do get it, at the same time they represent the airline, ultimately giving the airline a bad reputation. But thanks for the tip/note on the staff.
What type of plane was that?
I believe that it was on their old B777
Did you have to checkin 4 hours before flight? I read that was required for flights from US.
Checked in 3 hours prior to flight.
Ethiopia airline is actually know for operating the youngest fleets
I think you were just unlucky and got the oldest plane they have...
Thank you for the comment Mike.
Maybe that is true. Maybe in the future if I fly with them they will be new. However, four flights taken with them and all fleets looked old.
Thanks for the great video. You my friend in this video flew on the oldest Boeing 777 in ETH fleet, ET-ANN, named The Blue Nile. However it's only 11.9yrs old which by industry standards isn't very old at all. I think the issues you faced at your seat was due to delayed cabin maintenance. I hate that you didn't experience flying on a newer jet, they usually utilize the B787 on that route.
Thank you for that information. I’m still going to give ET a chance in the future. Like I said, on board experience is great. Just minor hiccups.
The 777s are usually flown to Washington DC. The Addis Abeba-Lome-Washington route gets the 787 dreamliners.
First I would like to start by saying thank you for your short video.
Next, I do not think so you are a traveler, the reason I said this is because most of african airlines are not no where close to Ethiopian airlines. This airlines named for many years now the top of airlines from the continent of Africa. And now in top 26 airlines around the glob. Therefore, you my wanted to get your fax straight for the future before you make your personal opinion towards to this airlines. As far as customer service, come on this is AFRICA. YOU ARE AFRICAN AS WELL. SO WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE WERE YOU EXPECTING? NONETHELESS, KEEP UP WITH THE VIDEO. MAY GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY AND OF COURSE YOU TOO.😉
Well thank you for the insult.
First, I have traveled religiously since 2006 and I have been to over 40 different countries and have traveled on over 50 different airlines. I have traveled on Business Class mostly with top airlines such as Eva, Singapore, Qatar, Qantas, Thai, JAL, BA, Lufthansa and more. In addition, I’m almost about to reach 1 Million miles traveled. I have the top tier status with OneWorld Alliance and Star Alliance, which Ethiopian Airlines is part of. So, I know what I’m talking about.
From my understanding, you are OK with mediocrity from an Airline that you so call the best. In order to be the best airline, you have to be great in all aspects of the service industry. That includes customer service. How can you be the best if you don’t have good customer service? Then what are you great at? You can be proud of your airline as much as you want. But you also have to understand that there are always room for improvement. If the company is satisfied with being mediocre then that is fine. But they also have to be ready for criticism. Just because I’m African doesn’t mean I have to accept mediocrity and be content with the status quo. Because I’m African and I want to see African Airlines be amongst the best in the world, I believe they should welcome criticism and should make every effort to improve.
My videos does not spare airlines from criticism. Even the best airline in the world (Qatar) has still room for improvement.
What I show on this video is the truth and reality of my experience flying Ethiopian airlines. The plane being old is not a made up thing. The video shows it. The IFE not working, is being shown there. I’m not making these things up. You even agree with me that they lack customer service. So, tell me, what did I state on my video that was misleading?
Anyways, you be proud of your airline and I hope they pay you a lot of money to defend them online since they can’t defend themselves.
Next time you want to be ignorant, glance over someone’s page before making a crappy comment. You would easily see that I travel a lot more than you.
Have a great day/life!
You complained a lot
Say no more. I don’t believe it’s complaining. It’s information being shared at the time of the travel based on the experience on board.
Are we saying that it’s acceptable to mediocrity?
@@ThePanzoAdventuresthanks, and I appreciated everything you mentioned.
BS review
Dude. Get a life. Do you get paid by Ethiopian Airlines? If so, make your money and be. If not, don’t come to their defense.
Live your life expecting mediocrity then.
Your comment boosts the video anyways.
I’m flying ET this Dec . How’s the weather ? Is it cold inside? Flying from IAD - ADD-CAM. And what about the luggage’s heard some bad reviews.
Not sure about the weather in ADD. The flight usually adjusts the inside cabin temperature. We had no issues with our luggage.
