Some times I fast forward on some trip reports I come across by some other YT channels but the information he puts in his videos is just so useful whether you’re an aviation geek or not hehe
Very true. Your knowledge and understanding of planes and its function makes you one of the favourite. Keep it up. Greetings to the family especially the little boy.
Nice change to see a African airline reviewed, the beautiful 77W my favourite aircraft of all time after the much loved 747s. Hopefully soon they will upgrade the cabin a little etc! That green colour is not appealing! I was pleasantly surprised to see how nice Addis Abbaba airport looked. Great stuff mate 👍
It’s becoming much harder to fly the B747’s.. The cabin, like you mentioned, has potential for much better. Specially the seat colors.. 😵💫 Thanks for being here again Paul!
I had a bunch of frequent flier points - aka Eurobonus with SAS - and 2 trips coming up this winter, first from ARN to DXB and secondly ARN - BOM, but I hadn't enough points for both trips. ET had availability to DXB via ADD. To Mumbai I found availibility with LH outbound, ARN-MUC-BOM with LH (boring, but good) and back again BOM-LHR-ARN with AI (and SAS last leg). Remembering how good of a service and food you got on your AI flight review, I ended up chosing LH/AI for the frequent flier trip and given this review I'm even more happy with my choice. :) It didn't hurt flying EK to Dubai either! :D Thanks for a great review, as always!
Wow another great vlog honestly if I didn’t know this airline was from Ethiopia I would never has guessed that africas biggest airline is from Ethiopia
Quite a surprise, right!? And they are profit making, which most African airlines are not.. So they have +150 planes and connect almost every African destination to major destinations and those where Africans mostly move to or live in. So it’s a business model mostly for them. See you around Ali!
Thanks Andrew!! I had a great time indeed. Returned with an additional +3kg. As an anecdote, my internet there is sooo slow that I couldn’t upload the video from the house and had to go to the grocery store and pretend to shop around for 2 hours! Now that’s dedication😂
Great Trip report buddy! Obviously the seat furry came to you ;) Three seats! The GE90 enging sounds are awesome, I'm going to make that my alarm clock :D The reverse during taxi and the spoliers deploid were really bizarre, I wonder what happened! cant wait for the next one!
The 3 seat story is becoming so insanely hard. I’ve never experience such full flights as now. I wonder where all that inflation and hard times are as I just simply don’t understand. Fares are 2-5 times of what they used to be a year ago. But I continue to do my best to be the seat fairy. Take care Itai!
Every video is very knwloedgeful. In this video i learned that ethiopian airlines have lot of 777, 787 and 350 planes . And also for US the plan has a stop in dublin. Thank you for giving this information.
love hearing the flaps & slats and also engine starup on 77W, I flew 77W on EVA Air, seating right next to the engine, and it feels/sounds so nice, and sat in Premium Eco.
Me neither. Because there were cups as I was given a tea in a cup.. I was expecting more of a : open your mouth and we’ll pour the tea inside situation..
I don’t think it was much for such a route, maybe around $200. I don’t mention the costs because it keeps changing. What applied to me that day might be 10 times more today..
I think it would’ve been funny if you told the pilot that the spoilers were still retracted after engine shutdown, his reaction would certainly be interesting hahahaha
I know right? But in my experience pilots are a kind of species that strongly dislike being wrong or corrected. That’s why they all go through, including cabin crew, to yearly CRM classes, which is a topic I might touch on some different day. Thanks for watching my friend!
11:29, That's good that they keep the Boeing 777 in a 3-3-3 seat configuration because the seat and aisle are wide and it's comfortable. Other airlines like Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Singapore Airlines, they are keeping the Boeing 777-300ER in a 3-3-3 configuration because the seat and aisle are wide and it's good and comfortable and I like it.
Great info. I don't know...not get a "safety first" feeling with this aircraft/airline. The airport? What are they doing so close? Super video as always 👍
Woah! Another exotic airline, and it looks fantastic! Never judge a book by it cover! Worker really close to active runway..holy Jumbo.... The best sound ever, GE90 startup! Good point. To answer you; it doesn’t. An engine does not solely consume fuel from a single deposit and that’s it. The plane smartly keeps the fuel balanced and distributed by fuel transfers.
Well, the terminal could use an update but I really like how busses are used for 80% of flights. I love that! I was actually annoyed to have one of the few gates.. Bedankt!
Yes, but I can’t go right now, can I? I have a job and a family. Work does not take me to Lebanon, so I have to go on my time off. I’ll do it, can’t say when.
Many airlines have the tradition to baptize planes and name them. But quite a few stopped doing it. KLM comes to mind now. All the planes are named there.
Thanks for the video. How does Ethiopian manage to fly from Addis to Sao Paulo (approximately 10,000 km with a flying time of over 12 hours), without a technical stop? Does the plane take off with lots of fuel but a reduced payload? Similarly, Delta and United fly out of Johannesburg (Elevation 5558 ft) for 15 hr plus flights to Atlanta and Washington without technical stops. How do they manage to do that?
I guess that the B787-8 dedicated to fly that route is not very restricted. And it’s around 11 hours to get there, so not much in long haul travel terms. The States would be further and with much more passenger demand. Regarding the Johannesburg situation, I’ll have a look. It depends on so many factors..
@@TheLayoverAviation In the past, Delta operated a 777-200 LR between JNB and ATL. They currently operate the A350. United operates the B787 for the 15-hour flight between JNB and EWR.

You may have addressed this in the past. If so, I missed it. Is most of your weekly travel for business? And if you're comfortable answering, what line of work are you in? I know in an earlier flight you flew to San Francisco for about 5 to 6 hours for business, and it was a short job that allowed you to take another 16-hour flight back home to your family! Thanks for sharing your travels.
It’s a very long story.. I do quite a lot. But quickly resumed, I lead a team of people in a major hospitality and travel company. I was going to stay in San Francisco but I managed to do everything in a morning so I went straight back and skipped my hotel stay, as I very much prefer sleeping at home whenever I can. And the flight back was waaaaay longer! I flew from San Fran to Paris and Paris to Dubai. All direct flights had departed and I would have to wait another day 😅
I am travelling with Ethiopian Airlines in 1 week. Do I need a transit visa as a South African passport holder? My layover is only 2 hours. I looked on their visa website and it said I don't need it as long as I stay in the transit area for not more than 8-12 hours I think. Is this accurate?
I must admit have never had a wine straight from the bottle. That’s weird that they have no plastic cups, maybe they are trying to save weight by not having them.
I don’t know.. It deserves to be perfect and I have some more flights scheduled in Emirates First so I want to see which one I want to publish.. I have a huge backlog of over 70 flights filmed..
Vegan meals have to be requested in most airlines, so I think it’s the same case on Ethiopian. And meal wise, nothing I noticed as being Ethiopian. But in Business Class there is!
