    It baffles me how people complain about more things to do in a game, but then complain when a game is too short. You don't have to do everything, it clearly wasn't made for everyone. I am an OG ff7 player so getting to spend more time in the world was perfect for me, they made the main story as fluid and streamlined as possible so you didn't have to do the "bloat".

    • @cloudsurfertom3268
      @cloudsurfertom3268 3 месяца назад +1

      You also published a "review" without actually finishing the game.
      Every single region has unique side quests also, they have Easter eggs and kameos and the intel portions are entirely skippable if thats not your thing. So it's more of a your need to see everything that's the issue here.

      Exactly. People complained about Spiderman being short and to the point and would have complained more if they’d given us a bunch of side content using the same map for the third game. The only thing I hated was the mechanics of getting around Cosmo Canyon. I don’t think every open world needs a region full of mountains.

      @jkbell87 cosmo canyons chocobo was bullshit 🤣 We were lied to with that chocobo, that's falling slowly and without grace.

      I personally liked the side content since I am in love with the combat system so I enjoyed more opportunities to use it. I don’t think it’s bloated but I agree that doing divine intel, towers, and scanning lifestream fountains got old quickly. Luckily they take almost no time to do. The proto relic and other side quests in each region were great though.
      RPGs are like the one genre where I think this is fine.

      I don't Plat games. I'm not gonna finish every side quest or mini game. It doesn't bother me that they are there, I just don't want to do them. I'm glad it is there for people who do, though.

    78 hours in and I'm at the beginning of chapter 10. I'm taking a break now 'cause it's getting too repetitive. At this point I think we don't need part 3.

    I am 20 hours in, and agree. The open world design is very outdated in design, the way you move through it at the very least, it just screams Ubisoft all over. It slows down the pace tremendously. I do not agree with people saying yeah you can skip it. Firstly, that does not change the fact the checkbox nature of the open world, and the boring activities in it (climb a tower, push button, do dumb moogle mini game, another uninteresting mini game, touch this, fight these easy enemies rinse repeat for the whole game). secondly, the activities are kinda important to strenghten your team, getting access to better materials, items, gear, so skipping it hurts the possibilities you and your teammates have. I enjoy the game nevertheless, the characters are great, the story beats are good, the presentation, the locations, the details in it are ranging from good to phenomenal, it kinda makes up for the boring open world structure, but still, this game could have been perfect with better open world exploration that does not involve going from symbol to symbol the whole time to do mostly boring stuff, also the traversal itself hurts it more, the chocobo's are hard to control.

    It's interesting to see what people's problem's are with the game. Some of the issues people have are completely valid. Arguably all of them are valid. But I can't really see the open world aspect of the game being a negative. The game does have some repetitive aspects but that's an issue with all open world games. I would argue that FF7 Rebirth does the open world better than most other open world games despite things being done 4 times. Also when doing the open world intel missions you get rewards so it's not like you're doing it for no reason.
    The Protorelic quests are some of the best region quests. And if the open world aspects truly bother you don't engage with them

    I feel like if I had to 100% the entire area before moving on to the next chapter I would hate this game. The checklist stuff is pretty cool, but it's definitely a grind, especially compared to the story and the mini games.

      Yeah I get that, I am a diehard ff7 fan. I love the world, the characters and the themes of the story. I love rebirth, I think it's exceptional. And even so I found navigating gongaga and cosmo canyon a pain in the ass. Aesthetically the regions are gorgeous but actually finding objectives there is annoying. My advice with Rebirth is to do a little of a what you enjoy at a time, if the thing you are doing gets old go play Queen's blood or choco race. You don't have to do it all back to back.

    I felt the same way after I completed the Grasslands. It felt like a chore even tho I kept being teased along to explore. I started skipping shit after I left the Gold Saucer.

    I'm enjoying the game but some of the mini games are getting annoying. I skip whenever Chadley speaks and I just finished clearing Gongaga. Storywise, every time Cloud sees Sephiroth I role my eyes. The fact that he can't say to his teammates ''hey I don't know what's going on with me but I'm seeing Sephiroth'' is very frustrating.

    I don't get why people are defending the way Square choice to do open world and mini games. Chocobo breeding should have been in the game to give you a reason to explore the region. Also, maybe have the summons walking around in the open world which affects the region and you have to beat it to return the land to normal??? But no, i have to listen to Chadley who doesn't say anything of importance

    The side content is incredible in the game. And optional. Yes the intel stuff gets repeatative but thats every open world game. But thats only the towers, wellsprings and summon stone things.
    If it was all story and linear youd bitch about that.
    My only complaint was that gongaga was annoying to figure out how to traverse with the mushrooms being unintuitive.

    Totally get it. But i am all for what they have done. Its unapologetically gamey. Tons of minigames and challenges to complete. Its not really an exploration world rather its a pretty backdrop where you just navigate to the next challenge so you arent just only doing the battle sim like in remake so im much more appreciative of the content. I enjoy the challenges. I have been 100% every region as it unlocks and going back and completing new minigames when the game tells me they are added. Enjoyed every minute. Could it do with 1 less hit triangle 3 times shrines. Sure but like they take me 5 seconds and drop a small lore thing so whatever barely any time wasted.

    • @marcosdheleno
      @marcosdheleno 3 месяца назад

      most of the extra content build the world more and more. but above all, its completely not required. you do what you want, when you want. besides the mandatory small minigames here and there, but hey, its ff7, anyone who has played the original will tell you that half of the game is the minigames.
      as someone who thinks gta iv is by far the weakest of the franchise, exactly because its the game with the least amount of extra stuff to do, i have to say, rebirth is probably among the best open worlds there are in gaming. so much diversity, so many things to do, so many stories, and enemies.
      but above all, the game always feel rewarding, due to how it changes things around. even a minor fetch quest will have its own music, and its lore. it will build and give the player more reasons to engage on the next one.
      even the towers are simple puzzles at their worst. there's even one that trolls the player, making them go up and up and up, only to realize that the device is at the bottom, so if you just circled it, you would've found it without needing to do that busy work...
      its a game that understand how to play with the player.

  • @andrewjung2919

    yo i agree some but you really dont have to slog thru it. its a choice, but you claim you want 100% sounds to me, maybe you arent liking the game.

    • @marcosdheleno
      @marcosdheleno 3 месяца назад

      the issue is less the gaming being bloated, and more him deciding to 100% the game, and realizing the game is MASSIVE on the extra stuff.
      the funny thing is, as someone who has played sd g generation games, this is still far shorter than to 100% than most of them.

    This reminds me of 4chan contrarians that complained that they couldn't go deliver pizzas up on the upper plates of Midgar and that the game was "too linear" and all that. The devs of the game went above and beyond and made this game feel seamless in exploring and adventuring but, well, even the game of the decade always has people complaining about it.
    Someone save me some time and let me know if this dude loves Soulsborne games and if that's the case I'm going to laugh my fucking dick off.

      its not that they ubisofted it, its that they ubsofted it in the best way possible. most ubisoft games have terrible exploration, because the reward is often common resources, money, or exp.
      its kinda like how ghost of tsushima is one of the best assassin's creed games ever made, even though its not an AC game.

      I will admit it. This game is bloated to hell and back. There are way too many mini games thrown at you and some of them are mandatory. They are integrated into the main story progression and it is intrusive. Some sections drag on too long and overstay their welcome. This game is exhausting. I have not been this exhausted playing a game since AC Valhalla.
      And that is just ONE of the issues I have this game.

    Eh, this feels like a very poorly thought out complaint. Also, you don't play a game for 50+ hours and intend to keep going if you aren't enjoying it. Just skip the side stuff if you don't like it? I also hated blitzball so I always skipped it (only for wakka's celestial one time to help get a platinum and then never again). FFX is still my favorite game ever, I just skip the side stuff I don't like. It's a 'side' quest for a reason - it's optional.

    • @marcosdheleno
      @marcosdheleno 3 месяца назад +1

      its funny you mention FFX because, its one of my all time favorite games, not just one of my favorite FF games, but games in general. whenever i replay it, i NEVER do some of the crap the game asks. like the lightning dodging, or the blitzball. even though i dont dislike blitzball.
      i dont get this NEED some people have to 100% a game.
      i have 100% so many games i actually despised playing, and so many games i actually loved playing i either never finished or just finished but left a ton of stuff undone.
      people need to learn how to prioritize their fun, instead of pursuing a number or a symbol nobody cares for, not even them.
