@@chriskitchen4772 thank you! My wife deserves all the credit for our family being what it is. In case you were curious, our dog's name is Diesel. The name was picked by the previous "owner," who used Diesel as part of a dog fighting operation (hence the clipped ears, also definitely not done by us). A friend of ours saved the dog from the original owner, and we were given the opportunity to give Diesel a new, safe home. He is a very sweet dog with an excellent temperament.

a virtuoso in being valuable a guitar player i think, Kyle might this flavor of a virtuoso, while I bet, he can shred as well, if he feels like and/ or the performance commands it anyhow, i really enjoyed this video a lot fun fact, i am not really part of a band etc, mainly accompanying on singer or a bunch of ladies having fun singing together, and while i play not by ego, i am observing oftentimes, that lesser might be exactly what is needed, and our context is not even incorporating a rythm section, horns, keyboards, just merely my accoustic , one lady playing a djimbe drum and half a dozen voices even here room for Kyle's advice cool thanks

Hey man 👋. Im trying to get better at guitar and im finding more time to play guitar. (Up to too hours) I was wondering how to practice because i normally just practice songs. I have a feeling this isnt the most effective ehat do you think ? Thanks 🙏
@@Woobbled I think that musical understanding is the most important thing. Your first step shouldn't be learning a song. Pick a song that you love -- a song that you love overall, not just because of some badass riffs. Before you learn the guitar part, find out what key it's in, then practice each scale position up the neck in that key. Then practice the chord triads for each chord and position up the neck. NOW it's time to learn the guitar part, and pay attention to how each part fits within the scales and chord triads you just practiced. Now learn the vocal melody, and see how it fits within the chord structure and scales. Now learn the bass part. Training your ear for bass is a great way to find chord progressions. Also pay attention to the rhythmic interplay between bass and guitar. You'll start to understand the parts themselves, but more importantly, WHY those parts were chosen. If you do all that for one song, the next song and the next and the next will be so much easier to learn and understand, and then creating your own unique songs with great composition will also be easier
@@josefplager yeah, dad's a great player. He can really light it up, but in shows and in sessions, he always plays what's appropriate for the song. I'm gonna start having him in videos. His knowledge and experience are invaluable, and he's got stories for days.
